The eye went offshore near Kennedy Space Center an hour ago ( luckily Artemis was moved from the launch pad to the Assembly Building earlier this week ).
Still expecting about 3 more inches of rain here in the next day.
Fifteen miles of the FL Turnpike at Orlando is shut down due to flooding (hydroplaning hazard is all , I believe).
No problems at my place , but watching 20 in. diameter trunk Oaks about 80 ft. tall whipping like saplings in the gusts is impressive ! Lots of leafy twigs in my driveway , but no big limbs…yet . No standing water at the road , but a puddle outside my back porch door . A first in sixteen years here . (porous sandy soil). Many not so fortunate – very close by . I am block captain for CERT ( Community Emergency Response Team ) , so will be busy as soon as it is safe to assess neighborhood damage (or hopefully , lack of it). During Irma a huge tree was down at the community entrance , blocking access . We had it cut up and the road open within two hours . Ambulance access is a must in these retirement communities .
