Morning Oasis

A tip of the cap to Alex Valdor.

He has offered his home for my wife and me should we choose to evacuate.

I am touched by that and the quality and character of the people who post here. Most of us have never actually met in person, so to me, what Alex offered is a complete leap of faith.

We can never let that change. Thanks Alex!

Here’s some picture earlier in that day in Florida colors are accurate said her dad.

He’s from Iowa a patriot. Said the pictures are on Atlantic side north of Jax. Where ever that is.

Yeah I know, that’s what someone I know in Texas said. It’s the worst when it just stays there and rains. I could deal with that but not a surge. Like you said it could take everything, not worth it to stay.
I just hope he changed his mind and got him and his family out no matter what the inconvenience. I’m not sure don’t quote me but I think he’s in the area of a direct hit.

Yeah, it’s worse with a slow moving storm.  It just dumps and dumps and dumps.  When hurricane lane parked alongside the islands here I got 54 inches in 24 hours.  Storm surge not a problem here on volcano slopes, and we drain well in a day or two, but it was just not something I could have imagined before.  Like living under Niagara Falls.   Florida will be scalped clean and sunk.  Prayers for Buygold.

And you know it’s gonna be there for a day with those winds pushing water up on shore flooding and low land. Then move in possible still a Cat 4 staying another day. People who stayed are likely going to die. Possessions are not wort it. He just got that house but being there is not going to stop a the surge. Maybe if not in a flood zone.
Remember that song red sky’s at night. I saw pictures from someone’s daughter who’s there but not in the surge area. It looked beautiful with red sky’s. Red blue purples too.
If he survives were going to have to rename him Gold Fish. I’m trying to be light headed about it. That’s not hard for me lol but he’s got us at edge.

If this doesn’t scare the crap out of you…?

I second that, if a predicted 12 foot surge comes in even less it’s not going to be survivable. It’s gonna be like hurricanes Sandy surge or Katrina. Friend in Texas described it like a bowl of soup. Low levels, like the predicted 12 foot surge coming in fills up the bowl.

Flooding and storm surge are nothing to fool around with in lowlands.  My god, man… you are at the point of a Cat4 hurricane coming ashore!  Get to high ground and solid shelter.  There’s a steam roller full of water bearing down on you .  Get out of the way!
