India, Pakistan exchange fire over Kashmir border for second day

Posted by ipso facto @ 11:27 on October 8, 2014

Tens of thousands of villagers fled their homes in Kashmir on Monday, as Indian and Pakistani troops bombarded each other with gunfire and mortar shells over the border separating their portions of the disputed region. At least nine civilians were killed.

Indian officials said the flare-up left five villagers, including one child, dead and 35 injured on the Indian side of the border. The Pakistani army reported four civilians killed on its side, including two children, and three injured.

Monday’s violence — one of the worst violations of a 2003 cease-fire between India and Pakistan — followed several meetings between the commanders of the two countries’ border forces aimed at calming tensions. Two of the three wars between the nations have been fought over their competing claims to Kashmir, though the 2003 cease-fire has largely held despite small but regular skirmishes.

Each side accused the other of firing first before dawn, and each said its troops had only retaliated. Both sides said the violence was happening at several points along the border, including the designated frontier dividing Pakistan from the Indian-held Kashmir region of Jammu, as well as the U.N.-monitored line of control that slices through the mountainous region and divides it into an Indian-controlled portion and a Pakistan-administered territory.

Ipso–I thought we might break the very reliable “3 day pattern” with gold rallies today

Posted by Richard640 @ 10:40 on October 8, 2014

First there is the big up day–Friday we wuz up $15–then the next day gold struggles all day to hold on to a small gain–yesterday we  were up $1.50 by the end of the globeX session at 5:15–then today looked like it might break the pattern—the 3rd day is “DOWN  HARD”…the verdict is not in….

A Good day !

Maybe its the BLOOD RED MOON…but  but     I also fixed a Computer problem on one of My Computers that had been a Pain for 4 weeks…finally….I use Linux Ubuntu operating system .I will never go back to Windows or Apple…With them its all about the money ! The only problem with Linux is with other software like JAVA  and Adobe Flash  ….Those guys need to get with the program and accommodate other Op Systems better than they do now !  Its getting better but its slow.Linux never crashes ,dosent accommodate viruses and runs fine without expensive virus programs. The operating system is locked with password and software dosen’t integrate as it works leaving op system out of reach of virus.

My problem was with Java, they tried to make it MORE secure and they caused it to stop working.!

Without Java downloading streaming quotes dosen’t work and Scottrade elete download system only works with Windows. My lap top I reinstalled Java and it worked not long after the Java up date, but the DESK top was another story ! Java is not secure and they knew it ,but thier cure was worse than the illness…but its a new DAY and the Bottom is in…and alls right with the Gold Bugs..

19 killed in riots in Turkey

Posted by ipso facto @ 10:17 on October 8, 2014

(Reuters) – At least 19 people were reported killed in riots across Turkey, the deadliest street unrest in years, after the Kurdish minority rose up in fury at the government’s refusal to protect a besieged Syrian town from Islamic State.

Street battles raged between Kurdish protesters and police across Turkey’s mainly Kurdish southeast, as the fallout from war in Syria and Iraq threatened to unravel the NATO member’s own delicate peace process. There were also clashes in the commercial hub Istanbul and capital Ankara.

Across the frontier, U.S.-led air strikes appeared to have pushed Islamic State fighters back to the edges of the Syrian Kurdish border town of Kobani, which the militants have been poised to capture this week after a three-week siege.

Yet Another variation of the Gold Bedtime Story

If the FED raises rates (haha), debts will fail, followed by banks. Then the next round of counterfeiting begins. The dollar was 70% of world trades before the FED began bubble blowing after the 2000 tech top. They will eventually trigger a dollar confidence crisis(already have in some countries). Buying gold, or other hard assets, on the way down is more important now than in the mid 1970’s when it fell 50%. When we exit the other side of this Debt Destruction Black Hole, the dollar will be like the Mexican Peso was in the 80’s. It may even go the way of the Confederate Dollar. If the debt company(bank) isn’t paying you anything for your risk(deposit), why lend them anything? They’ve already made rules saying that you, as depositor, are an unsecured creditor! This is about ultimate savings survival. Better to have something (land, metal, any real asset) than a promise from a bank that you will be wiped out as an unsecured creditor. FDIC? Well, by the time they get around to paying you back, how far will hard assets have soared in the resulting confidence crisis? Perhaps, 10% gold will make up for all the rest, which would just put you back to even. IMO, gold is ‘on sale’ and has been for a few years. For gold to go down, and stay down, would imply the national debt is actually being paid down. That ain’t happening!

Were you up watching the ‘blood moon’ this morning ?

Luke 21: 25-28 “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; 26 men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.

Don’t know much about it all, but figure it wont do no harm to know the signs of the times. 🙂

Thanks for all the information on healthy living/ nature’s medicine. I be taking notes. Best, Farmboy

Gold – I can’t prove it yet but I believe the last decline in gold knocked out the last of the gold bugs and gave gold, technically, a clean slate. I believe we saw the ultimate bottom of the gold bear market on Friday, and (yesterday) the whole universe of gold is higher, and closing at its high. Everything I have said about gold is also true about silver. I believe this is the time to invest in gold and silver if you have not done so already.

If I am correct, gold should act like the release of a compressed spring. Gold above 1300 would make me even more certain of my opinion, and gold above 1350 would represent a major buy signal. If you can’t handle physical gold, take a position in CEF, which represents physical silver and gold and is located in Canada.

Especially with GMOs more people are looking at Gluten free and some say they feel better with it that after eat one wheat including me. Another nurse told me today all excited she found gluten free Bisquick. To a busy nurse that’s a big thing. In fact for long term storage that would come in handy without having to get out a bunch of ingredients. I’m gonna have to look for that one.

Rice you talk about is a pretty safe bet because it’s the least of all grains that create allergic response. In fact they used to maybe still do recommend  rice cereal as the first foods to start baby’s on. Baby’s many times where allergies start including asthma. That’s why they discovered not to start feeding babies whole food too early. 6-9 months. Baby’s digestive system is a bit different from adults. They absorb foods and these foods can get stuck and trigger a allergic response by interpreting it as a foreign body. I know you focus on brown rice as white rice or too much of it all the time has been linked d to certain GI cancers.Nevertheless I like white rice too and don’t know how brown rice pudding would work out.  Different cancers different parts of GI tract as too much white flower can cause cancers.

Heres some recient info on how diet is related to two disabling diseases, RA and MS.

Multiple Sclerosis and the Microbiome: What’s the Connection?
AN EXPERT INTERVIEW WITH SUSHRUT JANGI, MD
Bret S. Stetka, MD, Sushrut Jangi, MDDisclosures
October 01, 2014

Editor’s Note: While onsite at the Joint 2014 Americas Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis/European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ACTRIMS/ECTRIMS) conference in Boston, Massachusetts, Medscape spoke with Sushrut Jangi, MD, of Brigham and Women’s Hospital, about the possible link between our gastrointestinal microbiome and multiple sclerosis (MS).

Medscape: Your study looked at the potential relationship between gastrointestinal flora and MS. What were the objectives of your study?

Dr Jangi: In many autoimmune diseases there has been a lot of recent interest in trying to determine how what we eat, how the kind of bacteria that live in our gut, might influence the immune system. Eighty percent of the immune system is in the gut and is probably shaped by what grows in the gut. For example, in rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease, we’ve seen that the gut microbiome probably makes a difference and alters the expression of those diseases.

We’ve also seen that when the gut flora in mice are changed, it affects whether they acquire the MS-like disease experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE). EAE is similar to MS in that when you give certain immunogenic compounds to mice, they develop a disease that looks very similar to MS. They get demyelination and disrupted nerve conduction, leading to deficits similar to those seen in MS. This model has allowed us to investigate how the pathogenesis of MS works.

So, given the work in mice with EAE and the fact that there was no study looking at this relationship in humans, we wanted to determine what the constituents of the gut microbiome are in MS patients compared with non-MS patients. We studied 105 patients and recently expanded our cohort to 250.

Medscape: And was there a difference?

Dr Jangi: The preliminary data show that there are at least a couple of different genera of bacteria that are different in the gut of MS patients compared with healthy controls. We found that a bug called Methanobrevibacteriaceae is enriched in the gut of MS patients and seems to have immunoproliferative properties that drive inflammation. We also found that the population of Butyricimonas bacteria is low in MS patients compared with healthy controls. This is an interesting result because these bacteria produce butyrate, which is thought to be immunosuppressive, but we do need to repeat this study in a larger cohort.

So it seems that our work initially supports the idea that the gut in MS patients contains bugs that drive inflammation and are low in the types of bacteria that control inflammation. This is consistent with work in rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease.

Medscape: Would you go so far as to say that gut flora might actually cause MS?

Dr Jangi: It’s very hard to say that at this point, but there is a correlation there. I’d like to think that it’s related to the cause, because that would suggest that we might be able to control the disease either by changing diet or prescribing antibiotics or probiotics, or even by doing something more dramatic like fecal transplantation.

This also mirrors the idea that MS is a disease of the western world. If you go to countries like India and parts of Asia, where diets are far more vegetarian, you don’t really see MS. However, when these people come to the United States and adopt a more westernized diet, the incidence of the disease goes up. I think this is an exciting premise but it’s still too early to say anything about the causality.
