Just seems to me I don’t mind nature doing its thing, making changes in the DNA structure. Kinda worries me when man begins to tinker in that realm. I am pretty sure there are things we yet do not know the outcome well enough to be messing around like that. On the other hand, it would seem the potential for medical cures is great. So as you say….who is to say? And agree modern corn tastes much better, and that too is by modifying genetics to produce a higher sugar content in corn. Good or bad ??

As to feeding the world, who can be against such efforts? I have one idea, how about we take the money from all the wars and use it to grow food. You know, beat the sword into plough shares kinda thing. Don’t see it happening, but just imagine if it did.

Now here comes my skeptism again, but I have to question companies like Monsanto and their patented food products. My understanding is they have the rights, make the profits, on nearly 80% of all corn grown in the U.S. So is their goal in controlling such a huge part of the market for the good of mankind, or profit?  Which is at the top of their list? Kinda scary to think one company could easily decide who grows the corn, and who gets delivery. Food as a weapon is probably not that far away.  In fact, isn’t that part of the Obama ‘sanctions’ on Russia, fresh fruit and veggies ?

Its a mess, this ole world. And I guess what bothers me is a quote from Einstein, something about ” the same mind that created the problem cannot solve the problem.” Mankind has created much of the chaos, and I doubt we are able to fix it.

So, we live another day. We love, and laugh. We eat, and do the best we can. Last I heard, that is all that can ever be expected of us. Enjoy this day my friend, and tell the ‘boss’ thanks for that next meal. As you point out, so many don’t have that option of the next meal. We are Blessed indeed.

I enjoy every other Tuesday night as I go to a Men’s Bible Study class. Cant see learning about the Good Book has done me any harm, but it sure has improved my Cajun cooking. 🙂

One of the guys is born and raised true Louisiana Cajun. Those fellas on Duck Dynasty aint got nothing on him. And one big man he is. Played a couple years as defensive end for the Minnesota Vikings until he busted up a knee and ankle. He recently taught me a great cooking lesson and a lesson in life. Once you overcook shrimp, you cant uncook it. I figure the same goes to this illegal immigration issue. There are 12-20 million of them living and working in this country. There aint no ‘undoing’ it at this point. For better or worse, they are here and no doubt will change the landscape of this Country. Which in my view, was the point of the whole exercise to begin with. To break up our long held values and traditions. Floridagold’s cat poster comes to mind. That which is seen cannot be unseen. And if the Progressive Democrats can get a few extra votes out of the deal, well, good for them.

Now here is the Secret to that Low Country Boil. You throw everything into the seasoned boiling water but hold off on the shrimp. After about 15 minutes you turn the flame off, throw in the shrimp, wait exactly one minute, and throw a bag of ice into the water. The shrimp come out perfectly cooked, but not overdone and rubbery. Wait about 5 minutes and dump pot on the newspaper spread on the table and you are ready for some mighty fine eating.

I don’t know if you have ever eaten maize – but modern corn (either GMO or non-GMO) tastes much better.  Just to pick an example.  What took generations – moving from maize to pre-GMO corn can now be done in the laboratory with some genetic modifications.

I agree about research – it can be suspect.  But what do we have to base a decision on?  And the research is from around the world.  It may be that in the future some better plan to try to keep up with feeding the world will arise.  I hope so because we know any action is not risk free – even choosing to only eat non-GMO.  All one can do is gauge the risk.

Now about all that ‘research’ and ‘studies’. I take em all with a grain of salt, and that applies to any topic these days. Two reasons, first, at one point the brightest of minds thought the world was flat and to question their consensus was worthy of death. I think that same sort of mentality still invades the ‘think tanks’ in our modern age. Just something to keep in back of mind. Second, those ‘research’ centers and universities are not much more than paid whores. Seems the all important dollar has taken higher priority in their halls than necessarily finding and presenting the Truth. They live, or die, on all that ‘research’ money. So I question the ‘results’. I have a friend that makes a living off grant money to do ‘research’ studies for the medical profession. And they tell me you can make a great living off of the pharmaceutical industry if you are willing to bend a few numbers here and there. Mostly, you design the study to reflect the results you want before you even begin. At least he was honest about it.

Anyways, don’t have any real opinion on the topic since I don’t know whose numbers to believe. I figure, its best to live (eat) as close to nature’s way as one can. But to each his own and I figure at our age it wont make much a difference either way. Thankfully, my daughters and son are leaning towards the non processed foods for their meals and working in more organic choices. My grandkids seem to be a bit more healthy, have better grades in school, and have very few ‘sick days’ as compared to their counterparts. I like to think their healthier diets contribute to this at least to some extent.

Like our PM investments, the bottom line may be that time will tell.

Ps) Given a few million I am sure I could hire one of the top 5 universities to produce a scientific study that frogs do not naturally occur in nature but are the result of some evil spell. 🙂

Pss) Sure they exist out there somewhere, but I would like to see a study of the Amish or similar groups who live close to the land, grow their own crops, and use very little modern medicine. Would like to see the numbers of heart disease, diabetes, and other ‘modern plaques’ in their subset as compared to the average American numbers. I suspect, but do not know, their numbers would be significantly better.

The USD just cratered and pm’s caught a little bid. Pretty unusual on a day before the Fed meeting.

Those NWO boys have been hell bent on the removal of America as a military and economic power. Been in the works for decades. Once that is a fiat accompli, they will mop up the mess and vacuum left behind. But first things first, and their primary objective of removing America from world leadership (dominance ) is well along the way in no small part to the like’s of Obama & Crew. Hang on, I think we are in for a ride.

If GMO foods were so good for us all

Neither I nor anyone I have read has made that claim.  The results of nearly 2,000 peer reviewed studies at various universities and research entities around the world have found that GMO foods are safe.  Results of these in prior post.

When I shop I see products that say “non-GMO” so if I should ever make the choice to eat non-GMO it is easily done.

The EU/US attempt at isolating Russia is causing the Alternative Alliances to grow stronger and more powerful as China, Russia and the other BRIC Groups ignore the Western hysteria about nearly everything.

I suppose what I object to most is the apparent view that non-GMO advocates have that they know what is best for everyone.  As I previously posted I am all in favor of non-GMO products being available and the choice to buy or not to buy.  But the not to buy non-GMO is important and I stand by my freedom to make that choice just as I stand by your freedom of choice to buy non-GMO.

As far as population control – we are currently unable to feed the world and that problem is only going to increase.  Technology can solve part of the problem and without it there would be even more starvation in the world and hence population control.

I’m not sure the Statue of Limitations has expired on all the ‘pot stirrings’ I have done. Seems I have a lifetime of fighting against boredom, and the drip, drip, drip, of the PM markets ought to be excuse enough for driving a man to do a little pot stirring these days. But sure enough, I was one of those boys in my youth that on a hot summer day when the fish refused to take our bait, and there wasn’t a turtle or snake to be found, we would find a hornets nest to throw stick and rock at just for ‘fun’.

Or the time we grew tired of putting our pennies, Yohoo bottle caps, fishing hooks, on the railroad track and decided a fallen tree would add some excitement to a summer’s evening. It did, and as that tree shot past our little hiding place beside the track its a wonder none of us boys were missing a head. And Lord, I guess I could write a whole book on the miscapades down at school. Nothing as boring as school lessons to make a boy get into mischief. Come to think of it, frogs were a big part of it. Did you know there must be a thousand places you can hide a frog to surprise somebody? Well, there ya go, and now I are one. Must be one of those destiny things huh?

Well, as I see it, must be my job in life to keep folks from getting bored. So we might all want to say a prayer that the PM’s shake off this water torture by drip pretty soon so I don’t have to stir up the pot as often. 🙂

While the West has this obscene love  affair, and damn near worship of the Central Banksters I figure the Chinese have about as much use for the Fiat Follies as a dog has for a flea on its tail. I do think the Chinese will ‘play’ along with these paper games as long as it suits their purpose, but much more prefer the more tangible and honest set of measures. Time will tell.

but now that ‘West Coast’ woman, well, she is just as sweet as honey. And kind. And for the most part, I could hear myself saying those two words and buttering her buns most anytime. But that ‘other woman’, Lord if she don’t have a mean streak in her higher than the Rocky Mtns, wider than the Gulf of Mexico, and longer than the Mississippi ( did I get all those i’s & p’s ) River.

In spite of her evil ways, twitching nose, and broom flying ways, I have tried to get those two words past tongue and lip, but they just wont come out. It’s like having a mouth full of fish hooks and my lips sewed up with cat  gut. Yep, gonna take more than Mad Mike’s coffee cups to work that one out.

But ya know…..you cant help but love her. Bless her little heart. 🙂

Wonder if that has anything to do with the new Chinese Gold Exchange Buygold mentioned the other day. Opening Sept 22 ? Was not impressed much once someone posted how Goldman & Thieves were part of it, ….but ya never know. This time it just might ‘be different’ afterall.

Not sure why the Chinese want to open their own exchange anyway ? Sometimes I have a hard time making the conversion from American thinking to Chinese thinking. American thinking is all about the ‘money’ and for the most part is short term. Chinese, I think they are approaching all things of ‘value’ (commodities) from a different point of view. That of acquiring as many/much as they can, and their view of the world is short term equals decades. And their goal I don’t think is so much about the money, as in world power and dominance. Have to wait and see how this plays out.

Listen Doc, we have plenty of good seasoned oak fire wood around these parts. Now I figure, $300.00 ought to cover the fuel expense to get it delivered to you. And one of your famous oven baked pizzas should cover the unloading and stacking fee. And my foot is itching to press down on the gas pedal……well, just let me know if you need a truck load of wood. Ps) those prices sound kinda high. A chord of seasoned oak is around $125.00 in my neck of the woods. But I can cut my own for about $10.00 worth of chainsaw fuel and a little sweat so I don’t very often pay for it. Course the way my back has been acting out lately, I don’t care much to even move a box of match sticks around. But I figure its just a temporary thing. Thinking positive I picked up a new chain for the chain saw the other day. Now you wanna talk inflation, that new chain set me back $35.00. Don’t think I paid much more than that for my first chain saw !

when this GMO Crap started by Monsanto..They went to Mexico and Planted GMO Corn in fields NEXT to Mexicans field that had planted corn they used for Hundreds of Years .Then the wind blew some pollin across into the Mexican Fields after which the Poor Mexicans Farmer was SUED for stealing Monsantos Patented Corn when some cross polinated. Yes Monsanto Sued them to put them out of business or Pay Monsanto for Patent Infringement.

It should have been the other way around.The contamination was the other way.Then US agri Business sold machine made tortillas at prices below cost to drive mom and Pop out of business. Now we have a GLUT of GMO Corn that can’t be exported because the Europeans and Chinese are wise to the effects of GMO.

This is what happins when Mussolini Fascism takes hold, Corporate and Government conspire against the people.

Funny, how much better life can be with just two words. Don’t know why I had such a hard time learning em. 🙂
