Floater, I just spotted your post, well said, and I thank you for that mention. Nice to know you are from NY and “can confirm my points” and know what I know about the turkeys we have for leaders. You forgot Cuomo though.

The biggest “safe act” liar buffoon in the tri-state area. Two cops assassinated anyway. We all know the safe act has nothing to do about safety. Too many mental defects deinstitutionalized after 1980. The “excuse” for no longer affordable because of off shoring, was “We have pills now to fix them.

I thing we all have done a lot more than needed, for decades, kissing minorities asses and tip toeing around them. I think its TOO LATE for the minorities to show some gratitude.

We all need to start turning our backs on THEM for a change. Let THEM tip toe around us. What more do they WANT??? This crap has been going on since the school bussing crap in the 1960s.

Don’t know much about the new ones but their idea of a budget does not include us other than what that can take from us for theirs.

Copy on that, agreed. The failure to maintain (with honest inflation numbers) the standard basic minimum wage, by the most recent powers that be, is causing big various problems now.

The OLDER powers that be, (the people?) that created and mandated inflation adjusted standard minimum wages were obviously a lot smarter than the more recent powers, (big business?) that started CHEATING on reported inflation numbers.

I remember during the 1970s, their media was saying wages were too high and causing the inflation, and lower wages in the USA private sector was the new objective.

Plus, before 1971, we lost half our gold reserves to various countries exchanging US Dollars for gold at $34. After we put a stop to that, the various countries took over our industries instead. Electronics autos machinery etc.

The USA got DRAINED, one way or another until the 2008 meltdown. Nothing left to share. That’s why I’m basically optimistic. We PAID. Some other country will take our place. Probably China in the future.

Yep that’s my point and that’s why they won’t secure borders for the jobs that remain or bring back immigration to the old number of 100k a year. A lot less people in jails and prison most likely too. We have a very large ” Billions” of dollars generated from industrial prison workers. The hidden factories. Bring them out to the public and hire these people for a fair wage, they won’t do that not when they can get something for nothing. Crime pays them and why sentences are getting longer to secure or expand their work force. Things need to change they will not change unless pressured.

@Goldielocks re 13:26 Aging Population, and Not Enough Workers

re part:
“However, if immigration to the United States were halted, its working-age population in 2050 would be about 1 percent smaller than it is today.”

Comment:
The gov’t media (big business) makes a shortage of labor sound bad. Agreed, bad for THEM, but very good for the workers. Less workers makes them worth more, and they are affordable ONLY for the best run most lucrative businesses with higher profits.

There must have been a big shortage of labor when my grand parents came here after 1908. My grandfather had 8 kids, wife did not work, and he was unskilled labor. How much salary would be needed THESE days for 8 kids? $200,000/yr?

The more money they get paid, the more people per person they can support. Less welfare food stamps etc. Businesses that pay chump change end up being partially supported with our taxpayer dollars for Medicaid and food stamps.

In other words, corporate welfare for various businesses.

frost tolerant avocados

Posted by treefrog @ 19:45 on December 28, 2014

in the past few years, several varieties of avocados have been developed that will take quite a bit of cold weather.  most of the work has been done in texas, using mexican stock.  the mexican mountains are high enough elevation to have frost and freezing temperatures.  over the ages, avocados have evolved to cope with this.

there is some confusion in variety names with various nurseries and dealers selling the same variety under different names.

lila, joey, brazos belle, fantastic, mexicola, and poncho will all withstand brief exposure to temperatures in the mid-teens (farenheit) without serious damage.  brogdon, wurtz dwarf, winter mexican, and several others will survive cold snaps down to the mid to low twenties.  these tolerances are for established trees, not tiny new plants from the nursery.  until your tree has a trunk the size of a baseball bat, it needs some protection on cold nights.  plant on the south or southeast side of a building in a location sheltered from the wind.  cover your small plants with a blanket on cold nights.  a small electric light bulb (incandescent) under the cover helps.  plant your new tree deep.  if the graft is below the soil line, it will likely resprout with the grafted variety rather than the rootstock.

…or you could go all the way and grow them in a greenhouse.

Show off lol I thought about that to get plants that ripened during the different seasons of the year but never thought about avocados and didn’t know there was differerent ripening telimes for them. Yes that’s the problem with avocado trees is they can’t handle frost I’ve heard. My mom had one in Sylmar Ca after they moved from the coast. She grew it from a seed she had on a tooth pick in a glass half in water half out. After it rooted she planted it in the front yard and it grew to a  tree. Unfortunately the earthquake hit before it grew old enough to produce avocados and the house totaled. Frost may have got to it eventually. I wonder if you could grow them under some kind of cover if they would survive. Also wondered if they made dwarf trees you could protect from frost one by having them under cover.

That’s cool. You got your own avocados. If I had one I’d try to find away to preserve them to have them though winter  too even if I tried to slice them up and freeze them. I might away way cuz if I buy a few of them at least one doesn’t get eaten with me running about all week before I get a chance to use it again it’s no good.

PS I read awhile back that by 2050 the Japenese could go extinct as far as having Japenese children but I bet were not far behind.we have the labor market behind it. Also I bet if all those on prisons went on slave labor strike and all refused to work they would be letting a lot more out of prison, watching w show today or part of it where they have these prisoners who work for like 25 cents he making them up to 50K a year. They are railroading them and or giving them long lomg sentences to create slave labor camps. We have the highest rate of prisoners in the world. If they say their not guilty by principle they get even longer time. They want to make money off them not get sued. That’s why they will never admit they are wrong and why they are treating people like common peisnoers or slaves instead of equals or in many cases superior intelligence to them. We are all not human beings to them just a money generator so they don’t have to do any hands on work themselves just count the numbers. This growing trend will probably lead to civil unrest. We have indeed started to turn into a third world country as well as Europe.

Makes you wonder why American smut producers are making so many sex shows as well as you even have to watch what’s on kids cartoons anymore.

Its not that Japenese are not interested in sex as much as who, but the consequences of it. That’s their way of saying I’m more interested in survival than sex. I’m guessing having a child in a competitive job market is also a threat. It’s a result of a unhappy existence where having more kids just makes it more difficult in a uncertain future. One of my daughter didn’t want kids but despite being on birth control had one anyways and the other only one. In my time they were concerned that we were only having a average of 2.5 kids where most of us came from a bigger family and now I bet take the immigrant factor out you have probably 1.5 plus the suicide rate is up it appears despite what numbers they say including turning to drugs. One of my daughters know two young men who committed suicide directly related to the economy and increasing economic pressures.

Forgot to mention they claim one million a year without regard to who’s job they might be taking or not so much the difference but the ethnic” indiference ” they bring . They neglect and probably purposely leave out the average of three million more a year who arrive here illegally. So their numbers are wrong and deceiving the ” people” and they know it.  Then they wonder why they are having less kids. From what I know from the Japenese not all look at the influx of immigrants probably most look at it as a good thing. They just stay quiet, and have less kids. Also globally they see it as well what’s going on in other countries anday see it a little different unless they experience it.

If the Japanese aren’t at least reproducing their population then they will die out. Also, who is going to take care of the old people?

I think it’s interesting in how little their appetite for sex is. Then there is this:

“More than half of Japanese are single. 49 percent of unmarried women and 61 of unmarried men, ages 18 to 34, are not in any kind of romantic relationship.”

Beyond the marriage and kids thing … I think this is just sad.

So if ” laborers dropped only 1% with kids already graduating with no decent paying jobs to go to as it is what is the problem?

Even countries with fertility at replacement levels are closely looking at immigration to offset some effects of population aging. For example, with about a million immigrants per year, the United States working-age population, ages 20 to 64, is projected to increase by 17 percent by midcentury. However, if immigration to the United States were halted, its working-age population in 2050 would be about 1 percent smaller than it is today.
Another demographic consideration is the composition of the immigrants. Many of those migrating today are ethnically, religiously and culturally different from the populations of the receiving countries, boosting anxiety about integration and cultural integrity and fears about ethnic conflict. In countries, such as Japan and South Korea, ethnic homogeneity is widely viewed as a positive characteristic. While foreign workers may add to the shrinking Japanese and Korean labor forces to effectively pay for the pensions and healthcare of the elderly, introducing large numbers of immigrants from other cultures is seen as increasing the chances of social unrest and violent clashes as is frequently reported in ethnically diverse nations throughout Africa, Asia, Europe and elsewhere.

The Japenese don’t want to live like the third world that are now infiltrating everywhere over populating other countries. I used to fall for that sympathy of starving children still do for the children but not the parents. They keep having kids and overpopulation is a breather threat. The only thing these e people are worried about it finding labor and the cheaper the better not how it affects the quality of live of others they don’t look at as human because they are spoiled and money and power has went to their heads.

The japenese ” people” are more concerned with the quality of life where both parents would have to work like here , not fulfilling some need for industries looking for laborers.

I fear the same thing is happening here but as long as they can keep letting immigrants in that apparently not so concerned for the quality of life or the effects it will have on other ” laborers” or global resources, it will be blanketed. Only thing you might hear is immigrants are having more children than the citizens. Then you get idiots in politics who brag about that. We’re getting our next generation of slave laborers with a smirky smile.

Floater not exactly but he introduced him to Terry

Posted by goldielocks @ 11:37 on December 28, 2014

Terry was the son of Doris Day who’s still living in Carmel a nice lady and animal activist. She has her own dog friendly hotel there. Terry died of cancer I believe a few years ago. Looked this up for ” the rest of the story.” Just shows you what jail can do when they try to raise kids. If you notice some act like the rouge cops they were exposed to too long violent and crazy then blame it on someone else. The ones who don’t see it their way esp innocent or set up have a harder time getting out.

US, NATO mark end of mission to Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — The United States and NATO formally ended their war in Afghanistan on Sunday with a ceremony at their military headquarters in Kabul as the insurgency they fought for 13 years remains as ferocious and deadly as at any time since the 2001 invasion that unseated the Taliban regime following the Sept. 11 attacks.

The symbolic ceremony marked the end of the U.S.-led International Security Assistance Force, which will transition to a supporting role with 13,500 soldiers, most of them American, starting Jan. 1.

Gen. John Campbell, commander of ISAF, rolled up and sheathed the green and white ISAF flag and unfurled the flag of the new international mission, called Resolute Support.

“Resolute Support will serve as the bedrock of an enduring partnership” between NATO and Afghanistan, Campbell told an audience of Afghan and international military officers and officials, as well as diplomats and journalists.

Japan’s sexual apathy is endangering the global economy

People in Japan are so averse to romantic relationships that the country’s media even has a name for it: sekkusu shinai shokogun, or “celibacy syndrome,” according to a widely circulated Guardian story on the country’s low rates of marriage, childbearing and even sex.

But this is more than a story about Japan and its cultural quirks: It’s a story about the global economy. Japan is the world’s third-largest economy, a crucial link in global trade and a significant factor everyone else’s economic well-being. It owns almost as much U.S. debt as does China. It’s a top trading partner of the U.S., China and lots of other countries. The Japanese economy is in serious enough trouble that it could set the rest of us back. And the biggest source of that trouble is demographic: Japanese people aren’t having enough kids to sustain a healthy economy. One big reason they’re having fewer kids is that they’re not as interested in dating or marrying one another, in part because they’re less interested in sex.

Here are a few of the statistics, some from the Guardian story and others from a 2011 report by Japan’s population center:

• Extremely high numbers of Japanese do not find sex appealing. 45 percent of women and 25 percent of men, ages 16 to 24, are “not interested in or despised sexual contact.”

• More than half of Japanese are single. 49 percent of unmarried women and 61 of unmarried men, ages 18 to 34, are not in any kind of romantic relationship.

• In every age group, the percentage of Japanese men and women who are not in a romantic relationship has been increasing steadily since the 1990s.

• About a quarter of Japanese don’t want a romantic relationship. 23 percent of women and 27 percent of men say they are not interested in any kind of romantic relationship.

• More than a third of childbearing-age Japanese have never had sex: 39 percent of women and 36 percent of men, ages 18 to 34. That number hasn’t actually changed much over the last decade, but it is unusually high.

• The Japanese population institute projects that women in their early 20s have a 25 percent chance of never marrying and a 40 percent chance of never having kids.

Another plane disappeared.

Commish Manson claimed he wanted to start a race war and to pin the murders on the blacks. Also he was after Terry of the beach boys. Someone introduced him to Manson. For a brief time they were considering giving him a contract or something but Terry picked up something wrong with him and backed off. It was after that the murders started and claiming a race war might have been a diversion. Terry had been in that house before but Tates husband was renting it at the time. Manson knew it and was perhaps sending a message to Terry plus Tates friends didn’t want Manson coming by looking for Terry being protective over Sharon and would you be if someone like that coming around? Also the La Biankas spelling who were also murdered lives next to Where Terry was and according to one of the girls Manson figured I’d they went to his house they’d trace it back to him so he killed the neighbors instead. Manson was a murdering low live who had a long history of being locked up and bad child hood messed up in the head.
