Apple will no longer unlock most iPhones, iPads for police, even with search warrants

Apple said Wednesday night that it is making it impossible for the company to turn over data from most iPhones or iPads to police — even when they have a search warrant — taking a hard new line as tech companies attempt to blunt allegations that they have too readily participated in government efforts to collect user information.

The move, announced with the publication of a new privacy policy tied to the release of Apple’s latest mobile operating system, iOS 8, amounts to an engineering solution to a legal quandary: Rather than comply with binding court orders, Apple has reworked its latest encryption in a way that prevents the company — or anyone but the device’s owner — from gaining access to the vast troves of user data typically stored on smartphones or tablet computers.

Gold Tumbles To 2014 Lows As China Unveils Anti-Rigging Benchmark

With a Fed hinting at exit strategies, gold has tumbled to 2014 lows (and almost in the red year-to-date) as traders apparently forget Japan, China, and European central banks continue to (or are set to) print more money into the global reflation trade. It appears that as the West continues to sell ‘paper’ gold, the East remains enamnored as the PBOC announced this morning:

• *CHINA TO FORM SHANGHAI GOLD BENCHMARK, PBOC GOVERNOR SAYS
• *PBOC CHIEF ZHOU: GOLD MARKET IMPORTANT PART OF FINANCIAL MARKET
• *SHANGHAI GOLD MARKET HAS TO AVOID SYSTEMIC RISK: PBOC’S ZHOU

Furthermore, traders have noted physical buying interest continues in the Asian region as premiums rise in China and India.

As Bloomberg reports, PBOC’s Zhou says Chinese gold market is crucial:

The Indian Chief thought that it was going to be a bad winter so he sent all the braves out to collect wood. As he watched them return laden with timber from the forest he suddenly felt that he ought to check his forecast so he phoned the local met office.

“Tell me, is it going to be a bad winter?”

“Yes” said the forecaster ” it will be a bad one”

So the Chief told the braves that they didn’t have enough wood and sent them back into the forest again. They returned with more wood but once again the Chief had doubts and he called the forecaster to confirm.

“It is going to be a really severe winter” replied the forecaster.

The Chief look at the wood store, decided that more was required and the braves were dispatched back in to forest. The Chief called the forecaster.

“Are you sure it’s going to be a really severe winter”

“Look” said the forecaster “its definitely going to be the worst winter on record – the Indians are gathering wood like crazy!””

When the Chinese start trading gold, the paper game may be up unless the Crimex can convince the Chinese to continue the game. All those trillions of US debt will be exchanged for pm and the great gold migration will continue until the coffers of the West are empty. The great advantage of the US is the vast agriculture production and petroleum reserves. It doesn’t hurt to have the strongest military in the world, at least for now. I think ‘things’, all things, are going to pretty much stay as they are now until after the November Elections. And then all hell is going to break lose. If the Repubs take over the Senate, watch out. I think some are going to demand Holder’s resignation immediately, greater investigation of the IRS and VA. Even serious talk of impeachment of Obama. In short, expect a lot of fireworks. If the Dems hold onto the Senate, watch out. Obama & Czars are going to go wild in a power hungry way. They will basically ignore any Constitutional law, and the order of the day will be rule by writ, Executive Orders galore. In either event, I think Wall St is going to go friggin nutso.  I would be stacking all manner of car parts and any other items you deem necessary to be comfortable with. Imho, ….things are going to ratchet up to new levels of craziness.

Two months….I hope they can keep the game going until then.
