When few or nobody is buying physical (buyers rest) TPTB can offer it very cheap, and won’t lose too much money making gold look bad. When everybody and their uncle is buying physical hand over fist, TPTB can RAISE the price (toward $1900) to curtail buying, encourage selling physical, and punish the late buyers at the same time.
The paper contracts are the tool, or “screw driver”. 🙂

Joe Stalin was right

Posted by Ororeef @ 12:15 on September 19, 2014

It ain’t how voters vote in a democracy …its WHO counts the votes….!

If you live long enough ,you will see that yesterdays enemy is todays friend.

I never thought I would be quoting Joe Stalin on anything.

I never thought I would wish our President would look after our interests as well as Russias President does theirs !

Hey Scruffy, Did You Watch The Rickards Video Yesterday?

Posted by Farmboy @ 12:10 on September 19, 2014

“Embry says, “I think we are very close now in the sense that the physical supplies of both gold and silver are being diminished at a fast clip. ”

Rickards had a good visual of the situation of Supply Vs Paper in that video. An inverted Pyramid resting on a block of gold with all the paper gold filling the upside down pyramid. A dramatic picture of teetering paper hopper just waiting to topple. Kinda stuck in my mind.

Like Ipso, I await the day “all paper burns”. What’s real, things that are real, are going to take their rightful place, and value.  Seen one ‘expert’ calling for $5,000 gold. I think a value of an ounce is much, much, higher than that. His call of $5,000 gold brings back memories of those days when gold was just a little over $300.00/oz and some folks calling for a $1,000 seemed so far out of reach.

Glass of ice tea in hand, we watch and wait to see the end game.

Best to you this fine day, Farmboy

““I think what we missed, and I have been thinking about this a lot, we didn’t fully understand the extent of the new financial innovation.  What you have today between derivatives, high frequency trading, algorithm programs and what have you, you can do amazing damage to markets and put them almost anywhere you want. ”

I think this is what all the greats missed, Embry, Sprott, Sinclair etc.

Just how different the technology and ability to manipulate markets is compared to any other time in history.

Every body may as well just watch the dollar charts. Everything goes inverse until price get so distorted, you get a natural snap back in the right direction in each commodity.

But even that won’t do ay good because you never know when they will raise or lower the dollar, and or for how long higher or lower.

The global bankers that run the global economy, use the dollar’s value, up or down, to help various countries in need. Its looking like Europe and others needs help lately, so they raised the dollar to inverse Euro and others lower.

The Feds stated goal is to maintain employment and price stability globally, not just in the USA just because they call it the “US Fed Res”. Its NOT. Its GLOBAL. The USA they are using like a “money conduit” or “manifold” for money distribution globally.

They almost took it to $100, now it’s back to $93.

Wouldn’t surprise me one bit if this Alibaba IPO marks the top in the SM.

if we ever do get a short squeeze in the silver market it will be an incredible thing to watch

Amazing how oversold pm’s get compared to everything else in the markets, hard to believe anyone would be adding shorts down here. I guess they might not be, it could just be the banksters dumping their fresh longs.

Fierce fighting in Yemeni capital kills 120

Posted by ipso facto @ 10:38 on September 19, 2014

SANAA, Yemen (AP) — Shiite rebels and Sunni militiamen battled in the streets of the Yemeni capital for a second day Friday in fighting that has killed at least 120 people, driven thousands from their homes and virtually shut down the country’s main airport. The battles are raising fears of greater sectarian conflict, unseen for decades in Yemen.

Yemen has been chronically unstable for years. But its main fight has been by the government against al-Qaida militants who operate in the south and the mountainous center of the country.

In the past few months, however, the Shiite rebels known as the Hawthis have become one of the country’s most powerful players. They surged from their stronghold in the north, taking a string of cities and have fought to the capital, Sanaa.

Their main opponent has been Sunni Muslim hardliners — militias and army units allied with the Islah party, which is the Muslim Brotherhood’s branch in Yemen, or tribal fighters sympathetic with the Brotherhood or al-Qaida. The government of President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, an ally of the United States, appears largely caught in the middle between the two forces.

Russia, Egypt seal preliminary arms deal worth $3.5 billion

Posted by ipso facto @ 10:31 on September 19, 2014

Russia and Egypt have reached a preliminary deal for Cairo to buy arms worth $3.5 billion from Moscow, Interfax news agency quoted the head of a Russian state arms agency as saying on Wednesday.

Speaking during an arms trade exhibition in South Africa, the head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, Alexander Fomin, did not give further details.

Russia, the world’s second-largest arms exporter, has sought to boost its military ties with Egypt after relations between Cairo and its long-standing ally Washington soured, causing some defense cooperation between the two countries to be frozen

down another 2%. PM’s aren’t alone in the commodity sector that’s for sure. Wheat, Soybeans, Corn all getting crushed this year.

Western States Cat in our area has put on a hiring freeze. Best guess is that orders for heavy equipment have fallen off a cliff, probably due in large part to farmers getting crushed by the falling prices.

OceanaGold confirms unsuccessful Alacer approaches

ERTH (miningweekly.com) – Dual-listed gold miner OceanaGold on Friday confirmed that it had made several attempts to gain control of fellow gold miner Alacer Gold.

Responding to market speculation, OceanaGold told shareholders that since February this year, the company had made a number of approaches to Turkey-focused Alacer, seeking to explore the merits of a potential business combination.

However, Alacer has to date withstood the approaches, saying it was interested in neither a business combination, nor mutual information exchange with OceanaGold.

Alacer, in turn, told its shareholders that although approached from time to time by third parties, the company had no current intention of pursuing a corporate transaction.

Both companies confirmed that they were not currently in any discussions.

Alacer owns an 80% shareholding in the Çöpler mine, in eastern Turkey, which produced 271 063 oz of gold during 2013. During the next year, the project was forecast to produce between 160 000 oz and 180 000 oz of attributable ounces.

ASX- and TSX-listed OceanaGold owns gold-producing projects in New Zealand and the Philippines, and recorded production of 147 399 oz of gold and 11 185 t of copper in the first half of 2014

I believe in Shanghai they have all the rotten apples from the west playing, Goldman, JPM, HSBC, etc. The hope that Shanghai was going to start dictating price for us is fading pretty fast.

SLV now has an RSI of 19.43, most things would be due for a bounce, but I dunno.

So if the Scots voted no, why is the British pound down?

And if the Chinese bourse is open, why is paper gold still determining price? Enquiring minds would like to know!
