Imo nothing is as dangerous as the activists say it is. I used to play with mercury when I was a kid. I used to wipe paint off my hands with lacquer thinner on rags, Even asbestoses is not dangerous. Unless you work in an asbestos mine with no mask. Or arsenic.
I’ve heard of people putting arsenic in their spouses food and it takes a long time to kill them. The modern machinery they have these days could detect 1 part per billion of anything anywhere. Our own bodies have copper magnesium selenium etc if they look for it.
TPTB simply built up the danger info decades ago to create new types of jobs, to over ride loss effects of globalization, and make people more sympathetic to shutting down factories, and moving them to China et al.
I believe, since 2008, TPTB are moving away from that old agenda. Laying off Environment employees etc. Not entirely of course, but I see hints. They have to stop curtailing production wealth creating business activity to rebuild the economy.
