“I decided it was getting boring so I decided we needed a live target. Not putting anyone at jeporday and knowing I was fast I decided to be the target.”

If you ever get bored, with anything, I want you to call me. Night or day, it don’t matter. Let me help you…we can talk about it before you go running around as a live target. Call me. Serious. anytime.

You are what we call crazy women here in the South, ‘A Real Hoot’. Not sure what that has to do with an Owl, but that’s what we call em. Hooter Goldie is your new nickname. (grin)

And no MM, aint that kind of hooters. Just in case you was thinking something else.

Well, never mind that. I told my daughters never, ever, kiss any boys. Not even once. Told em about all those germs, nasty drooling, that all boys picked their nose and ate what they found. Showed em pictures of germs and all kind of nasty little things living in a boys mouth. How they probably aint brushed their teeth in a week, and that there was no tellen where that boys lips had been.

I told them they were better off kissing toads, lizards, worms, ….anything but a boy.

Course, they didn’t listen to me I don’t reckon since they are all grown up and married. I know they kissed at least one boy, at least once, on their wedding day. I guess it didn’t kill em afterall.

Best to you, Farmboy

Ps) Its allright if you take ‘her’ side. Everyone else does around here. LOL

I agree, lack of common sense will cause laws to protect the children from their parents as well as opportunists.

As you see BB guns can be dangerous too it to a kid anyway they hurt. Got hit in the leg by a prankster using me for target practice.  At the same time can’t remember if it was bird shot or BB guns but we were shooting for target practice bothers and neighbors and I decided it was getting boring so I decided we needed a live target. Not putting anyone at jeporday and knowing I was fast I decided to be the target. I ran back and forth not getting hit until a parent saw us and stopped it. Told us they could kill. I don’t think we even realized death is permanent. After all in cartoons they come back to life. Later on a child was killed by her bother using a bird shot hitting her in the chest his five year old sister. The chest wall thinner and passed through hitting her in the heart. Even BB guns need to be under lock and key and supervised conditions. Also saves money on broken windows and anything else they might hit.

You’re right, agreed on all that. Same as boating. You don’t start with a single screw 38 footer. You start as a kid with a Boston Whaler and an 18 hp outboard.

When I was a kid we got Daisy lever action BB guns to start. I had my gun set up like the Rifleman’s gun. Close the lever and it shoots. The wealthier kids had the Daisy Pump actions.

In fact, I still have a BB imbedded in my left cheek. From when we used to have BB gun fights taking turns, attacking and defending the big ole two story barn.

My friend had one embedded between his eyes, but got it removed. When I got hit in the face, I thought it was a glancing “flesh wound” that left a little blood. After it healed and scab came off, I realized the stupid BB was in there.

That video was made by Aaron Hawkins of Storm Clouds Gathering.  Here is what someone familiar with his modus operandi says:

“Storm Clouds Gathering, otherwise known as Aaron Hawkins, is a left leaning guy who never quite makes clear what it is he’s proposing, but it’s pretty clear he’s sympathetic to the “Venus Project” or Zeitgeist movement. The basic idea behind the channel is to poke holes in libertarian philosophy while maintaining itself as anti-State through a series of increasingly contradictory statements. The anti-propertarian, anti-capitalist arguments he makes are the picture perfect example of the leftist infiltration of the libertarian movement I’ve been talking about, and the large following he has built demonstrates the damage this kind of thing is doing.”

Take it for what it’s worth.

“Yes Dear.”  <<< Did I get that right?

A ceasefire it shall be until its not then.  You go do your shopping, I will stock up for the next round of abuse and torment from you. Giving you a heads up, switching from crayons to chalk. Seems my three year old niece wants to draw in the driveway and challenged me to a game of hop scotch. What it is with women anyways? Always starting trouble, even at 3 ! I don’t even think I remember how many squares are there in hop scotch? Don’t really matter, I’m giving it the Farmboy twist anyways, going to draw circles and triangles. 🙂

You enjoy your day hon, I will go practice my chalk drawings. Course, thinking, maybe I could just take her out fishing and teach her the dynamite sure score method of catching fish?  If she didn’t tell her mother…..?? Oh forget it, that would be so wrong of Uncle Farmboy wouldn’t it? Course,…on the other hand….. I better go find some chalk before I get into real trouble.

Have a nice day, FF

Ps) Say dear, could you loosen that leash just a little, kinda hard to get out a good croak much less a belly bursting burp. Oh ! That’s another little trick I can teach my niece. Ear drum bursting burping, kinda goes along with blowing bubbles.

semi autos

Posted by molyminer @ 11:57 on August 30, 2014

I am no expert but every semi auto that I have fired tends to climb as it is fired. I watched the clip a few times and the gun was never in a horizontal position which would have made it go to the left. Maybe someone with more experience could tell me if  I am wrong.

Posted by silverngold @ 11:57 on August 30, 2014

Thanks for responding. Your question seems reasonable and maybe one of our resident gun recoil experts here can answer it. I agree it does not seem to be what I would expect the weapon to do when fired.

Another thing I noticed on the movie clip was in the last frame they showed, with the weapon pointing directly to the left, the childs left arm was ABOVE the weapon but the instructors left arm was BELOW the weapon. So if a tragedy did take place, and if the instructor was shot in the head as stated, he must have reacted to the moment by bringing his left arm up under the weapon and causing it to point at his head. Somehow all the pieces do not seem to fit what is being reported and what is shown in the video clip.

Portugeezer @ 10:24 Hey Rich !

Posted by Farmboy @ 11:49 on August 30, 2014

In reply to your question, Yes ! Up, Left, Right, or combination of both. Even down with some muzzle breaks.  And I think the reason you don’t see sand kicking up is that the lead was headed skyward quite quickly. Don’t take but an inch or so of muzzle climb to send your ammo way off target. As in, low flying ducks down range would have been yelling ‘Incoming”. (trying to put a little humor to all this. sorry )

Watching the video that little girl had no training, and absolutely no control of the weapon after the first couple rounds. The Uzi was off to the races on its own.

Awww that’s really sweet. Thank you.

Yes FarmFrog , I think it’s a good idea for another ceasefire (smile)
You’ll need time to replenish your crayon set and I got some important shoe shopping to do.  (bigger smile)

I picked up a newspaper at the Silver Dollar Café this morning and read a short article about the shooting. Came off the AP wire.

Sounded to me that this was one of those shooting ranges that are marketing to the folks who want to go out and shoot a ‘machine gun’ for fun and entertainment. I heard about these places opening up a few years back and thought then that this will not turn out well.

According to the article Japanese are big on this type of ‘shooting’ experience. Folks are having their ‘bachelor parties’ shooting full auto weapons. One place even advertises ‘Shot gun’ weddings. Yep, bring your wedding here and the bride and groom along with the guests can spend your wedding day shooting up paper targets.

I think you are also right this was more the idea of the parents than that child. The more I read/hear about this you can bet the anti gun folks are going to latch on to this story and these type of shooting ranges. And I hate to say this, but since common sense is overruled by the chance to make a buck, I think some laws should be put in place to protect the stupid. You have to be 16 to drive, 18 to buy a beer, but its ok to some to let a child ( with parents permission no less) walk in off the street and be handed a fully automatic weapon. Duh???

I understand the wanting to shoot full auto, and run home to tell all your friends what you did over summer. But I wonder, what was their plans for next weekend? Gator wrestling in the swamps ?

Laws will never replace common sense, but this will only lead to more tragedy if something is not done. imho.

I believe they used Isis and are going to use them again to start a war or keep it going.

Mad Mike that was interesting about blanks and now I know to never use blanks and live rounds together who knows what could happen.

Silverngold not that I think it’s a conspiracy or convinced but the could of possibly had a few rounds and then it was empty. Never shot a Uzi so don’t know if it can continue to fire without rounds. If I were to have a auto I would choose that one though for relative ease compared to others. I’m guessing those Tommy’s my Gramp had were a handful to handle. He did not want guns around children at all not even hunting and would of had a fit if he found out.

13 years he says. How many years since Pearl Harbor before then. Now it’s 13 years. We’ll know when they need another war.

This was another child who died at a range same reason

Although tragic at least the child didn’t die. Before her there was another place that did the same thing and gave it to a 8 year old boy with instructor at his side the gun moved up hitting the child in the head killing him. STUIPD STUPID STUPID. Some of these kids I bet had no interest in them in the first place. Did you once hear on that video him explains to her about recoil?!? I’m guessing the same happened to the little boy. In my day we handled guns young starting with bird shot moving up to 22s but for the reason of hunting which is a whole different ball game than warfare. With that comes a mindset and can a child distinguish the difference or be comfortable with it when pushed into it. I call it the alter ego. ” My” kid can do this and that. With so much concern keeping kids safe why would a parent give a child a lethal weapon like that and take that chance. I’m guessing they are going by the rule that children up to seven still have trouble distinguishing reality from unreality but it’s still there to a degree not to mention their strength and nervous system isn’t able to react to something like that going wrong. They might have half a chance with a experienced parent who knows the child and would guests the child with their life. Might.

Thanks for the very intelligent feedback. I was unaware of the “firing blanks issue” so that is now questionable in my mind, but after watching the video dozens or probably more than a hundred times and as close to frame by frame as I could accomplish I was never able to see the uzi elevate enough to miss that sand bank as the weapon swiveled to the left, and I was never able to detect any kickups of sand other than the first one she fired in auto mode. The camera taking the pictures must have been mounted on a tripod since there is no shake to distort the background, so someone with the equipment should be able to determine any differences in the sandbank before and after the incident, but they gotta show me more kickups to ever convince me.

Whatever!! What is seen cannot be unseen!! LOL!!! Does anyone know anything about the instructor, his name, where he lives (lived), funeral, etc?????

to a novice 9 yr old is beyond reasoning in my book ! My heart goes out to that little girl. She will have to live with that memory the rest of her days.  Another useless tragedy that should have never happened.

Moving on with our own lives….Good Morning Gal ! And speaking of moving on, how can I talk you into moving out of Californika ? Breathed a sigh of relief when Buygold got out of there. Now its your turn?

During my short military stint I learned that firing blanks required the use of a blank firing attachment (BFA) attached to the end of the muzzle. This allowed the escaping gas from a fired blank round to build enough pressure in the barrel to force the receiver mechanism back and eject the spent round and chamber the next round. An actual live round builds up enough pressure in the barrel behind the escaping projectile and initiates a blowback action that ejects and chambers. Without the BFA the gas simply escapes from the end of the barrel and creates no pressure to eject the spent round. The receiver must be cocked manually to chamber the next round. We NEVER mixed live rounds with blanks.

Maybe automatic firearms have changed a bit since I served, but I think probably not. Perhaps any current serving member of the Armed Forces could enlighten me.

Best, MadMike

Somehow this post site makes my post disappear if I hit the done sometimes.

If you look close you will see that after the first shot when he put it in auto their is a small trail that starts above the target and goes to the left that wasn’t there before. What happened next I don’t know. She could have tried to pull the gun up away from the instructor or he attempted to grab it. It happened real fast but soon as he saw that it threw her left hand of on recoil he should of grabbed it. These days with so much paranoia and accusations maybe he was hesitant to touch her and why he was standing at her side instead of behind her or kept his hand on the gun just in case.  If it dies anything it will push to restrict children from using automatic machine guns. Bad choice to start a kid out with. There was also a woman’s voice when her hand came loose that could of distracted the instructor I’m guessing the mother who saw trouble.  Personally because they can get away from you I don’t think it’s a good idea. Someone I know who has a auto said that she should of shot her parents in the foot with it while she was at it just letting her shoot one.
