Years ago at times I had to work with a crew of 8 people discussing the job and all the problems. The crew chief said, “look we can’t worry about everything” and he was right. A lot of what you said down there I remember reading and hearing long ago at the start of globalization, and outsourcing.

The media started an education campaign about factory pollutants so we don’t mind so much shutting factories down. “We don’t want those dirty factory jobs” “We don’t want the rust belt” they called us. Huh? I thought this is a load of impropaganda.

And at the same time, to help replace lost wealth creating production factory jobs they created tax absorbing jobs fighting pollution via cleaning and enforcement. A auto body shop guy I knew moved his shop.

One day two pollution cops came, a male and female with guns, free car and gas joyriding, nice day, inspected him, and got him on a paper work loophole re the spray booth, $1500 long ago when it was a lot of money. Any way I consider everything we were taught exaggerated.

Even the mercury in the fish. In fact I have a little jar of mercury. We used to stick our fingers in it. Put some specks on a copper penny, smear it in and it looked a dime.  If there was mercury in fish, they would harvest fish to glean the valuable mercury.

Besides everything comes naturally from the ground anyway. So a stream or river can flow thru a mercury or copper deposit etc. Even the asbestos scare is b/s. I don’t have time to explain that one. I worked with all the metals dust, paint fumes, clean my hands with lacquer thinner etc. People say I look 60 and im 78. I want to see a you tube video removing a sample of mercury, from a fish and I’ll eat the mercury.

Another thing to remember. Sometimes a spouse puts rat poison or arsenic or anti-freeze in the husbands soup, and it takes a long to gradually kill them. For the insurance and or new mate. And I’m going to worry about 2 parts per billion of some pollutant?

We arent so fragile and don’t die easy. You must have witnessed that in hospitals. It takes a lot for someone to die. Supposedly we have needed metals in our bodies. Try to ignore the media. Everything they say is somebody’s ax to grind advertisement.

The biggest health problems are stress, anxiety, eating drinking and smoking too much. getting fat, drunk driving, no exercise etc far far worse than any alleged parts per billion pollutants. We used to ride our bicycles behind the DDT truck. It was fun and smelled good. And no mosquitoes.

I remember we were kids and had dogs and a lot of flees in the house. One day my father waved over the DDT truck guy, gave him $5 and asked him to shoot the cloud into the basement. It filled the whole house, no more flees. 🙂 Good thing there was no spark to blow up the house.
