Gold price seen near tipping point for mine cuts, closures

Posted by ipso facto @ 10:51 on September 26, 2014

VANCOUVER –The price of gold, down more than a third in three years, is approaching the tipping point where the mining industry would see a spike in the number of producers reducing output or even shutting down operations.

Several mines globally have already suspended output in the past 18 months, but not as many as industry watchers expected as producers focused on slashing costs and reworking mine plans to extract more profitable, higher-grade ounces.

But with bullion’s slide this week to a nine-month low of $1 208.36 an ounce, those defenses may not be enough.

“$1 200 is a critical level. The industry has geared itself around $1 200,” said Joseph Foster, portfolio manager at institutional investor Van Eck Global. “If it falls below that level, then there are a lot of mines around the world that are really going to struggle.”

well it seems to me that gold is tied to the hip of the buck.

no an exact correlation but nevertheless a function of the buck;

when the buck goes up in price via the index gold seems to ramp down.. not because of gold selling but because of the natural value of what a dollar can buy at any time in gold and visa versa dollar down gold up more dollars to buy same gold

so if the dollar has a real run up it will directly value the price of gold down because less dollars are needed to buy the same oz.

but why is the dollar going .up. the perceived safety as opposed to the flight away from other currencies into the dollar.

Ask them their thoughts,Pierre Lassonnde says China will determine Gold prices. He’s the best in my opinion.

Rob McEwen not talking too much I would love to here more from him.

Frank Giustra is a financing Genius for Gold companys ,but he’s friends with Bill Clinton and that makes me nervous ,I suppose knowing what liberals are thinking and who they know has its advantages. He certainly knows how to use that to make money .

There are plenty of Rich Liberals,so maybe Franks on to something…

I sometimes joke to my friend ..when I become a millionaire I’ll become a Socialist,When Im a Billionaire I’ll be a communist…That way I can say to the Poor “don’t Tax me I’m a Socialist just like you”

More good stuff about turmeric

Posted by ipso facto @ 10:26 on September 26, 2014

A spice commonly found in curries may boost the brain’s ability to heal itself, according to a report in the journal Stem Cell Research and Therapy.

The German study suggests a compound found in turmeric could encourage the growth of nerve cells thought to be part of the brain’s repair kit.

Scientists say this work, based in rats, may pave the way for future drugs for strokes and Alzheimer’s disease.

But they say more trials are needed to see whether this applies to humans.

Too much political and technological manipulation (HFT). Plus BG still has some sanity.

I keep hanging on because the time for financial upheaval gets closer each day, thought 2008 was it. No rescue when that happens next time. I think deflation, especially in debt (maybe a jubilee) and then hyper Zimbabwe style.

winedoc, thanks for BB, neat encounter you had. Riding with the King of gold.

The growing push by Canada’s First Nations for sovereignty

Posted by ipso facto @ 10:08 on September 26, 2014

LA TUQUE, Canada — For years, members of the Atikamekw First Nation have watched trucks rumble through their traditional territory, carrying out load after load of timber, only to see the profits slipped into others’ pockets. Recently, exploration companies have begun searching for rare metal and gold deposits on the land, a vast stretch of Canadian wilderness nearly the size of Maine. And like many First Nation tribes, the Atikamekw have had enough.

Atikamekw leaders declared sovereignty over the 31,000 square miles of boreal forest in north-central Quebec earlier this month in a bid to control the extraction of resources on their land. This week they issued another statement saying they won’t allow forestry work to continue on their ancestral land without their approval. The moves came after a game-changing Supreme Court decision this summer that recognized the rights of a First Nation in British Columbia to its ancestral territory. Now many tribes are examining if and how they can exert more control over the land they claim as theirs.

Most of the Atikamekw-claimed territory is interrupted only by a scattering of small towns and gravel logging roads. The First Nation group, consisting of about 7,000 people living on three small isolated reserves, has been fighting for greater control over its traditional land for years.

The declaration of sovereignty came after years of watching with frustration as the Quebec provincial government made deals with forestry companies without Atikamekw consent, said Constant Awashish, its newly elected grand chief.

A bull mkt [in stocks] climbs a wall of worry.”

But this has not been a bull market of old, this is a totally manipulated ‘Artificially Propped’ up market. Imho.

Evidenced perhaps best by the lack of ‘normal’ corrections a run up of this magnitude should have experienced if I grasp normal market fundamentals.

Crackdown on freedoms? Australian Senate passes draconian anti-terror laws

Posted by ipso facto @ 9:58 on September 26, 2014

Australia’s senate has endorsed new anti-terror laws that will grant its intelligence agency the right to spy on any citizen with just a warrant, while journalists and whistleblowers “recklessly” exposing special ops can face up to 10 years in jail.

The anti-terror laws, which cleared the Australian Senate on Thursday – and will almost certainly pass the House of Representatives on Tuesday – grants extraordinary powers to the nation’s spying agency, ASIO, to effectively monitor the entire Australian internet.

The National Security Legislation Amendment Bill allows one warrant to give the ASIO access to a limitless number of computers on a computer network when attempting to monitor a target. It also allows for the content of communications to be stored – while ASIO agents will be allowed to copy, delete, or modify the data on any of the computers it has a warrant to spy on.

There is so much going on in this world that is standing at the precipice who can say which domino triggers the Great Fall.

My thoughts were a couple weeks ago was ‘they’ would keep the markets hitting new highs until after the Elections in November. Now I am second guessing that idea……. ? I DO NOT see how any rational person, could possibly be in these markets at this time. Gives the term ‘Sheeple’ a whole new meaning does it not?

Well, lets steal some of Floridagold’s popcorn and watch the Three Ring Circus today. Say, you be interested in an American Flag. Slightly used, but still n good condition. Well, mostly. As in its mostly all there except for a small sample to make a pair of shoes.

Good Morning Fellow Goldbugs

Posted by Farmboy @ 8:46 on September 26, 2014

Mad Mike, Thanks for the brew this morning. Making that apology tangible I see. lol  Not only are you Da Man, your a Good Man to boot ! 🙂

My attitude is lets just get this week over and in the books. Cant remember a crazier week in the PM’s. Something must be seriously WRONG in the financial markets for the way they just keep pounding on Gold ( should have been up 100 bucks this week ) and Silver. Guess we will find out soon enough, but I think “something wicked this way comes”. Wondering if we will see a ‘stick save’ by the PPT today or do they allow the Market to continue yesterdays downward slide?

Guessing that back when gold was over $1,800 and Silver near $50.00, we would probably have sold our mothers to be able to buy at these prices today. Good time to be stacking at prices I doubt we will see again in our lifetime.

Keep the Faith, Farmboy
