THE MORNING LINE Booming U.S. Consumption ‘a Mystery’

Booming U.S. Consumption ‘a Mystery’

What’s powering the U.S. economy? ‘It’s a mystery,’ concludes a think-piece by Noah Smith posted Wednesday at Bloomberg.com. He ultimately settles on a boring economic environment as the main reason why U.S. consumers continue to spend. While we may be living in all-too-interesting times from a geopolitical standpoint, the U.S. economy is arguably on a modest glide path, with no misguided Fed policies, oil price spikes or wild speculation to trigger a recession.  Of course, the eternal optimists who nurture and sponsor bull markets have voiced similar thoughts just ahead of every recession that has ever occurred, so we should probably take what they are saying now with a grain of salt. Stocks are priced, if not for perfection, then for expectations that nothing will go seriously wrong. Paradoxically, the worst thing that could actually could go wrong, and eventually will, is the onset of a bear market. It is predictable that it will begin for reasons that will not be apparent until we are all waist-deep in it.

We came from a generation where we were encouraged to be exposed to a certain amount of germs at least for that reason and viruses. The big fear was polio but as for the others many kids were purposely exposed as to “ get it over with while young. Mumps in adult males can be a problem as well as measles and German measles in pregnant women.
They did however learn to boil water for babies or if unsure for all and sterilize bottles.
As far as the germs prior to waste management, clean water, “ if not filled with fluoride and run off chemicals” sewer systems then antibiotics child death rates were very high.
A lot of weird stuff from back then that was man thought up that killed kids like formulas that weren’t formulas that killed them as nature knows best and wet nurse who wealthy men would dump their baby’s to free up their wife where they were lucky if they got their own baby back instead of another because theirs starved or died of neglect so they just handed them another one.

Comment. On the positive side it must have been survival of the fittest immune systems in people, and we are the descendants of those people, so maybe we don’t have to worry so much, and let survival of the fittest prevail? 🙂

Below George Carlin re GERMS. Note bad language or profanity for 6 minutes, but funny.

Yeah, pretty good day today. Have to get through the jobs report tomorrow which is usually tough, but considering the USD strength, we had a good day.

We don’t seem to want to blast higher, but we don’t seem to want to get crushed either.

Vaccines could do good if they “were safe” and didn’t have a trade off of death and adverse effects.
A lot of diseases have been eradicated by knowledge of where it comes from. Like sewer systems instead of dumping things in the streets and water ways like dead butchered animals that probably attracted rats too. I can imagine the smell of old European towns back when. Clean water, hand washing, regulation in food industry.
Others still around.

Suns good except in winter probably wouldn’t hurt to take supplements maybe not as high as 50K units but best to do your yearly tests in winter to see if you need them. As people get older too absorption by the sun might be inhibited too so good, so good to check. The doctor said mines good so far without supplements although I took a little bit not much being surrounded by the flu. It’s going from one person exposed to the next. At this point it will be a miracle if I don’t get it too.

@Goldilocks, Agreed I Don’t Like Vaccines Either

I was only implying the Mexican “bad” news may have been exaggerated , like the gov’t media “good” news. They fight each other.

I feel all us humans only need to ingest flood and water. Like all the other creatures roaming the planet. I don’t believe in vitamins supplements or any medical care until there is a problem and its needed. Like an aspirin after getting a head ache. Or a vitamin D pill if the Dr. says you’re too low.

In fact I went for check up after about 20 years, even more may have been 30 years. 30 years ago Dr. said my cholesterol was 240, and found trace of blood in urine. Wants me to go on cholesterol drugs and take a test with radiation, and go on a diet.

So I call Marie a nurse. She askes me do you drink a lot of water? No. So forget about the blood, you are “concentrated”.  And don’t worry about the 240, that used to be normal. Why didn’t the Dr. say that?

So here I am 30 years later, and new Dr. great guy, tells people not to worry things and spends an hour with you. He said my cholesterol was 219,”But LOOK, your good cholesterol is off the chart” so it kind of makes up for the “borderline” number. “Just eat less fatty foods.” No drugs.

He made me take a prescription one per week vitamin pill, 50,000 I think it was.  After three weeks I had to stop, it was giving me pimples. So I spent more time in the sun, of which a little goes a long way. Anything in moderation is good or not so bad.

Ever since I saw a forensic files episode one night, where a woman was putting small amounts of arsenic in his soup, to make him die, it took a long time. At that point, I realized, we don’t really NEED to eat Organic all the time. We can handle small amounts of bad things.

It was all over the news but found it was few years back.
This one claiming contamination from bacteria.

H1N1 vaccine in there was another reference that was all over the news.
The different was they aren’t protected by the government like they are here.
They threatened they won’t give vaccines here if held accountable or could be sued so tax payers have to pay for the law suits and stays out of the news. Where there GSK had to pay.
Remember can’t remember the exact spelling Byrrmeister who posted here.
She warned to me on the tent about it not to take it which I didn’t plan as we were following the hoax they were starting up before it hit anyways.
She said in part code can be pretty safe to say now years later and a proven law suit on GSK who had a bunch of expired vaccines they wanted to dump on the public.

The 2009 H1N1 influenza pandemic left a troubling legacy in Europe: More than 1300 people who received a vaccine to prevent the flu developed narcolepsy, an incurable, debilitating condition that causes overpowering daytime sleepiness, sometimes accompanied by a sudden muscle weakness in response to strong emotions such as laughter or anger. The manufacturer, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), has acknowledged the link, and some patients and their families have already been awarded cpmpensation. But how the vaccine might have triggered the condition has been unclear.

Swine flu vaccine also caused problems in the 1970s

Didn’t see this yesterday. Nice intersection

Posted by Mr.Copper @ 13:30 on February 6, 2020

Years ago at a junk yard, I needed a used auto part, I had to argue with a father and two of his sons that INSISTED, 9/11/01 was carried out by the US government. Huh??? 🙂

I’ve had people tell me the moon landing didn’t happen and was a hoax. I worked on and made parts for the LEM on that project at Grumman.

I also heard or read that Arab Martys after they get killed will have 14 virgins waiting for them.

Decades ago most people went to church for a few different religions. As the number of church goers dwindled, it seems to me hundreds of other religions started. Ones like

The Global Warming religion,

the animal rights religion,

the tree hugger religion,

the anti gun hating religion,

the vegetarian religion, and on and on must be a hundred of them. I can’t think of them all right now, may you posters can add to the list.

Nice to not have our stocks being beaten silly. This is a tough road we’re on!

I find the story hard to believe. Mike Adams owner of Natural News, sounds like just another one of those Alex Jones type authors that want us to read their stuff and get attention or get ratings for paid advertisers? by writing “exciting” stuff?

I could not find anything on FoxNewsLatino, other than a the daily beast 4/13/17 story saying its shutting down. And who is the daily beast?? 🙂

Then I looked up Mike Adams and found…

“Michael Allen “Mike” Adams a.k.a. The Health Ranger (born 1969 or 1967 in Lawrence, KS) is publisher of Natural News (formerly News Target) which promotes alternative health and natural lifestyle products online. Adams also owns and operates dozens of other sites, including WakingScience and TruthWiki, and ‘shadow’ sites that he creates to target enemies. It’s estimated that the various sites get 6.5 million hits per month, with 31% coming through organic search.

Adams is an ardent anti-technology, conspiracy theory promoting pro-organic advocate who claims biotechnology scientists “are the most despicable humanoids to walk the face of this planet” and that they promote corporate “junk science” and are anti-human.[1] He has promoted such causes as AIDS denialism, 9/11 truther conspiracies, Barack Obama citizenship ‘birther’ claims and believes that chemtrails and vaccines are serious health threats. He aligns himself with President Trump, portraying the ‘mainstream press” as purveyors of fake news in an attempt to suppress truth tellers, like himself, and has emerged as a rising star in the alt-right movement.

If you ever get cancer, you should trust the establishment because their methods do work. The alternative methods will only work if you have so much belief that it has a placebo effect. You get what you pay for. Chemo and Surgery is very very expensive. Cheap is cheap.

VXX–This is high risk actionable advice–the SPX just triggered a buy sigal to about 120 pts higher..

Posted by Richard640 @ 12:32 on February 6, 2020

12:18 pm—A coupla things—they’re buying treasuries for the first time in 3 days-why?….what with a blockbuster jobs report tomorrow?=ADP says 291K v.s. 160k expected…the trannies down 50 pts all morning and not bouncing…the Russell down a few all morning too…could be just working off a bit the o.b. situation…TSLA has bounced on high volume…all perfectly normal….but if the jobs # is on the low side…and if the virus story comes back from the dead…with a weekend ahead…

I may be obligated to buy some VXX calls before todays close…t’would be more prudent to buy the them on the jobs report-if it’s strong– but from 8:30 to 9:30 that pop could  disappear and even reverse and there is no option trading… gotta see how the last hour shapes up…if the mkt closes fairly strongly my options may be on the bargain counter…
this is top picking…t’is always better to let the mkt show its hand…but in this supercharged environment 50% of a move could be over by that time…

This is some good sh*t

The United States Moving To and Through Pivotal Elections:

The US continues to be a nation divided at levels of polarization not seen since 1860. This is likely to worsen until (and beyond) the November 3, 2020, Presidential and Congressional elections.
The internal US schism profoundly hampers both the attention which the US President can devote to strategic issues, and the prestige which gives the office influence. Thus, most of the strategic actions by the incumbent President fail to get attention in the US polity, such as initiatives to cement a new economic and power framework in Central Asia, extending through a resolution of the Afghanistan conflict, and linking to the Indian Ocean via Pakistan. And attempts since 2017 to break up PRC strategies (BRI) to control Eurasia and Africa.
Of primary importance, then, is whether the US misses great opportunities in 2020 and possibly fails to start to regain unity in 2021, and whether the US can itself regain cohesion at all. It is not inconceivable that the US could see greater moves toward secession by some states, or toward violence between urban-controlled state structures against nationalist elements.
In the US, it is the society-level schism which could work profoundly against the success of the state, as opposed to the PRC where it is the state which is now moving (again) against society.

A Turning Point for Africa:

The collapse of the PRC’s suzerainty over much of Africa has meant a collapse of security there, and a return to corruption at a leadership level in those particular states.
he absence of accountability or major-power pressure means that rapid decline should be expected in 2020 in South Africa, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, and elsewhere on the Continent. Problems persist in the Horn of Africa and North Africa. This instability is being exploited substantially by Turkey, working alone and through Muslim Brotherhood (Ikhwan) conduits, and by Iran.
The fundamental decline in PRC investment and loans (and the pressure by Beijing for African states to deliver resources and other outcomes), as well as a tapering off of PRC purchases of resources from African states, will mean growing economic malaise in Africa. This will lead to an impetus toward mass migration to Europe (in particular) at a time when the EU states are increasingly less able to cope economically with this.
A similar scenario could apply to much of Latin America and for similar reasons.

Even with this incredible Wile E. Coyote stock market rally (virus, what virus?), the long bond has smoked the S&P 500 total return YTD… 6% for the former and 3% for the latter! Bonds have more fun!!
The BoC’s Carolyn Wilkins said in a speech today that Canada isn’t at risk of turning into Japan. Too bad because in Japan, real per capita GDP is expanding whereas in Canada, it’s contracting!
So long as you ignore the declines in order backlogs, employment, prices, vendor performance, inventories and net exports, it was just a dandy ISM non-manufacturing report today!

If you believe the ADP number that just came out then you de facto believe that productivity is declining at a 1% annual rate. Great for margins, but since when have fundamentals mattered to equities?

What Were We Thinking?”

When we look back on this moment from the vantage of history, what will we think? Will we think how obvious it was that the coronavirus deaths in China were in the tens of thousands rather than the hundreds claimed by authorities?

Will we look back at the claim that only twelve people in the entire U.S. had the virus, despite all the direct flights from Wuhan and the tens of thousands of people who’d traveled from China to the U.S. in January, and marvel at our credulity?

They should check before providing more lip service to the people even if they mean well. To think about it I don’t think Trump would leave her in charge of filing ANY original records.

Under House rules, members of Congress are encouraged to preserve records or donate them to a research institution for historical study, Cox said. Unlike congressional committees, members are not legally required to hold onto their office’s files.
“They can keep them private, they can destroy them, or they can rip them up,” he said.
This is in contrast to presidential records, which have been considered government property since the Presidential Records Act of 1978 and are supposed to be stored with the National Archives for safekeeping.
“The State of the Union is a presidential record, which must go to the National Archives under the Presidential Records Act,” Nourse said “(Pelosi) did not mutilate the record that is filed with the Archives.”
The purpose of the records law “is to prevent someone from depriving the government from the use of its documents,” so Pelosi’s move “doesn’t fit within the statute,” added Kathleen Clark, professor of law at Washington University in St. Louis.
There are probably countless copies of Trump’s address, such as the version the White House posted online. Pelosi’s action doesn’t preclude future generations from accessing one.
“If the statute were not read this way, then any copy of the State of the Union held by anyone could never be destroyed,” Nourse said.

n Mexican Town Now Dead Or Hospitalized

Despite the insidious attempts of the corporate-controlled U.S. media to censor the stories about the deadly side effects of vaccines, the truth keeps surfacing.
by Mike Adams
The latest vaccine tragedy to strike has killed two babies in La Pimienta, Mexico and sent 37 more to the hospital with serious reactions to toxic vaccine additives. (Tweet this story)
“…14 children are in serious condition, 22 are stable and one is in critical condition,” the Chiapas Health Secretariat said in a statement via Latino.FoxNews.com.
hat only 52 children were vaccinated in all, meaning that 75% of those receiving the vaccines are now either dead or hospitalized.
The vaccines were administered by the Mexican Social Security Institute, known as IMSS.
The IMSS confirmed the deadly reactions occurred after children received injections of vaccines for tuberculosis, rotavirus and hepatitis B — the same viral strains targeted by vaccines routinely administered to children in the United States.
IMSS suspends vaccination pending further investigation
According to Fox News Latino, the IMSS has suspended the vaccines pending the outcome of an investigation into why so many children have been killed and hospitalized.
According to the entire mainstream media in the United States — which is 100% controlled by corporate interests — vaccines never harm anyone and are perfectly safe to inject into children in unlimited quantities.
This dangerous, inhumane “Vaccine Injury Denialism” is rampant across the corporate-controlled media, which contributes to the deaths of innocent babies and children by refusing to acknowledge the truth that vaccines kill and injure children on a regular basis.
Just recently, in fact, the UK government agreed to pay $90 million to victims of the swine flu vaccine.
That vaccine caused permanent brain damage to over 800 children across Europe. The truth is that vaccines regularly harm and even kill innocent children, most likely because of the toxic chemical adjuvants and preservatives they still contain.
As the CDC openly admits, vaccines are still intentionally formulated with mercury, aluminum, MSG and formaldehyde.
Some vaccines even use ingredients derived from aborted human fetal tissue. Last year, a CDC scientist blew the whistle on the CDC committing scientific fraud to cover up links between vaccines and autism in young African-American males.

It goes on.

Something like:

Who is your Daddy,

And what does he do?

I know media is eating this up but they shouldn’t fall for the diversion she creates and focus on his accomplishments instead.
