You’re not alone; my buying of shares dates back to 2003 as well, and I, too, have held many of them and have the scars to prove it.  It’s very disconcerting to look at your portfolio that is a sea of red, and find so many that are down in the nineties % range; more than a few down 99%.  That’s tough to come back from.  I’m lucky enough to have made at least a few good picks; my AG and MAG have been big winners and have helped keep things from being quite as bad as they could be.  I’m in for the long haul though; wouldn’t be worth it to try to salvage much from my mess.  Good luck to us all.

@ipso facto re Grasberg have to be at least 51% owned by Indonesian companies.

That’s more evidence that globalization is failing. Kind of like the end of slavery, and the beginning of woman getting equal voting rights as men. And woman’s liberation movement. Eventually people and or countries smarten up.

I wonder what foreign mining corporations are getting away with something here in the USA? That should be 51% owned by USA. I remember South Africa’s SBGL took over Stillwater Platinum Palladium mine in Montana I think. The ONLY PGM mine here.

Aguila…..long time also

Tottsville seems like a hundred years ago. Guess I am terminally stupid to let all those shares go right back down to less than where we started and still be holding on in a lot of cases. So let’s just assume they will go back in the other direction when “the move” really gets going. 2003 was our learning experience to see what can happen. It is up to us now to watch for a good time to lighten up and book some cash. That can always be turned into phyzz since we don’t trust paper. Hey, stockpiling cardboard is a practical venture too.

Bottom line is that gold is going higher unless the PPT comes in to save the market on Sunday night.

Probably won’t last if the PPT does the usual stick save. PM shares don’t believe the move higher – unfortunately.

I don’t understand your price mechanism, but gold was up today 1+%

Kitco – has pulled back a little from the close, no idea where you get the $.60 from. Still $1589, silver dips back to $18.01

GOLD 01/31/2020 17:01 1588.50 1589.50

1578.00 1591.10
SILVER 01/31/2020 17:01 18.01 18.11

17.68 18.17

Buygold–gold was up 60 cents at the comex close then up 4.20 at 5:15 pm–up $16??

another one of “those articles”…gold was a great hedge today…Ha Ha!

If this doesn’t get your attention, then you’re just not paying attention!

Long before the move into gold becomes a full-fledged “rush,” smart money with deep pockets will have been activating their own accumulation plan.

The chart below from Goldman Sachs research indicates what’s been going on under the radar. Gold ETF (visible) accumulation – which by the way has now officially reached record levels – is being substantially eclipsed by the build in non-transparent gold investment, as it is ensconced around the world in private vaults, kept “in hand” near one’s residence, or simply buried in the back yard.

Indonesia is a dicey place to invest. You can bet Newcrest won’t be putting a penny more there.

Newcrest divests Gosowong for $60 million

Newcrest (ASX: NCM) announced Friday it has signed an agreement to sell 100% of Newcrest Singapore Holdings Pte Ltd (NSH) which owns a 75% interest in PT Nusa Halmahera Minerals (PTNHM), which operates the Gosowong mine in Indonesia, and 100% of PT Puncakbaru Jayatama (PTPJ), which employs exploration personnel in Indonesia to PT Indotan Halmahera Bangkit (Indotan).

The move comes after the Joko Widodo government issued a mandate in 2018 stating that major mines such as Gosowong or Freeport-McMoRan’s (NYSE:FCX) Grasberg have to be at least 51% owned by Indonesian companies.

Super Bowl will be a very tight game.

I know this because the genius’s at the Forum are split exactly.

You heard it here.

Gold @ $1589 up $16, Silver @ $18.03, HUI closes below 235. Ridiculous yet again. PPT better spring to action Sunday night in the SM or Monday will be hideous.

Oh that’s right, the pm share sellers must need the extra liquidity.

Here’s your COT’s – Banksters look to be confused while the funds are hanging tough…

desperate to stop 30 yr closeing sub 2.00 % and of course tapping PM’s back all the time.

Barely 2 hrs till we escape the EU……BBC treating it like end of the world….huge party in Parliament sq.

Maddog–Yeah, I “seen” the Naz divergence..I think that has to be seen as a “hook” for the bulls now…in

Posted by Richard640 @ 15:12 on January 31, 2020

…in the same way, TSLAS, AMAZON M-soft and others that zoomed after earnings could be hooks too for the bulls…I’m not 100% sure but I think “things have changed” and there’s gonna be a big, scary correction with no V bottom…I also think gold could come alive…maybe before or after the close today and continue sunday nite–I don’t see a 2008 scenario that featured the preposterous “shortage of dollars” malarkey along with crashing gold…

Yes it killed savers. It also promoted the push in the stock market because even though the economy was suffering before 2016 Divi stocks paid more than what you’d get from a savings account or CD. So Obama wasn’t creating any move in the market on economic reasons it was because for most people they had no where else to go.

There’s still no real fear out there, the Dog is down 0.60 LESS than the Down or S&P

Posted by Maddog @ 14:11 on January 31, 2020

shud be down double or more.

Re General Market, Dow Down 471 today, 1.64% SnP Down 55 1.67% etc etc

Posted by Mr.Copper @ 13:53 on January 31, 2020

I think its about time the general market and its gov’t supported spoiled players gets their asses kicked. Their playground was finally seriously rolling over in 2015 after climbing from March 2009.

Because of Trump getting elected in 2016, combined with Federal Reserve help, and killing savers with low rates, they or Dow, got FOUR MORE years and 12,276 more points or 76% higher. Re Dow 2016 at 16,000 versus 28,286 today, 76%.

Bottom of summer 2008 blip crash, March 2009, Dow was 8,166, today 28,300 is  253%. That’s a lot of percent in 12 years.

GOLD??? WAS $272 in year 2000, $1,580 today 2020 is net 480% in 20 years. No property taxes, no maintenance, and no interest payments if you paid cash. Ok you math pros. What would the Annual Percentage yield be on that?

I won’t be surprised if it comes out 17% APY, you guys remember those posts of mine from years ago before we got thrown off stride? Whipsawed? Way up and way down?

This would tend to support the idea that the virus didn’t originate in a weapons lab.

“Research suggests fewer than 60% of the early virus-carriers had been directly linked to the seafood market. The rest were associates, friends and relatives of the people who had. That, right there, is evidence of human-to-human transmission – and this was known as early as mid-December.”

Well look at the GOOD news,at least they cant blame Trump

Posted by Ororeef @ 13:18 on January 31, 2020

for the stock market going down ….they get a “correction” and the Chinese get blamed….Trump wins even when the Market goes Down….

They got gold under wraps so far but if this continues I think there’s a chance it’ll break free as investors panic-

Posted by Richard640 @ 13:08 on January 31, 2020
The $ index down .404-that has caught my attention-gold hit but I gotta think that if this continues today and monday that gold and silver break free as investors start to really panic—now they still think it’s just the virus and a “healthy” correction—I am picking up some gold coverage cause I think if sunday night is hairy, then gold could be up strong Sunday nite and up an ole 30 to 50 by the close on Monday—maybe gold won’t perform to my expectation but I see little downside risk under current conditions…. like in 2008…
I wanted to fade a strong open today but had to pay up for my VXX…

Maddog – they sure are

Posted by Buygold @ 12:36 on January 31, 2020

if they can’t turn the SM around, they might as well hammer the pm shares and hit gold a bit. Silver still trying to hold on but HUI back below 235. Un-effing-believable.
