Loading ...There is a young man that manages his family’s gas station/convenience store just down the road from me. He grew up in Florida and graduated from that Gator school in the swamp. He wears the same old and ragged Gator baseball cap nearly every day. Come to think of it, I don’t remember him not wearing it, ever. Over the past year we have mixed it up as he defends the Gator honor and I my beloved Dawgs.
Yesterday I had a good ten minute conversation with him. Well, that’s not exactly true. Yesterday I mostly listened as he rattled off a bushel basket of stats, players, and even strategic plays the Gators will use to defeat Alabama. He never paused, I don’t think he even took a breath. He is 100% sure fired of a Gator win. I did leave him speechless though as I walked out the door and said, “I’ll be pulling for your Gators” and let out a loud shout, ‘Go Gators’!” He said, “Wait, I have an extra ticket for the game, would you like to go?” For about half a second I considered it, but told him “Thanks, but I better stick around the house this weekend.” The thought of spending a whole day with him telling me how great the Gators are was a little much.
You can probably inform the rest of the Gator fans they can just stay home and watch the game on TV. I think this one man will be enough to inspire his Gators to victory.
