Battle for control of Libyan airport reignites as cease-fire efforts fail

Rival Libyan militias battled for control of the capital’s international airport on Sunday, with a least three people killed in the fighting, a security official said.

The weeklong fight over the airport is being waged by a powerful militia from the western city of Zintan, which controls the facility, and rival militias, including fighters from Misrata, east of Tripoli. The clashes resumed early Sunday after cease-fire efforts failed.

A security official said the fighting killed two militiamen from Misrata and a civilian who died when a stray rocket hit his house.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to journalists.

A mortar shell struck a Libyan Arab Airlines plane and a column of black smoke could be seen billowing from inside the airport, which has been closed since Monday.

Tripoli is witnessing one of its worst spasms of violence since the ouster of longtime dictator Moammar Gadhafi in 2011. The rival militias, made up largely of former rebels, have forced a week-long closure of gas stations and government offices.

In recent days, armed men have attacked vehicles carrying money from the Central Bank to local banks, forcing their closure. The Central Bank had said banks would reopen Sunday, but they remained closed as the fighting resumed.

Renegade Gen. Khalifa Hifter, who is waging his own offensive in the eastern city of Benghazi against hard-line militias that want to see Libya become an Islamic state, denounced what he called an attempt by “remnants and agents of terrorism” to destroy Tripoli’s airport and terrorize the people.

Hifter, who appeared Saturday on Libyan television, said “our troops in Tripoli have bravely confronted the aggressive militia attacks” and vowed that the “coming few days will be decisive with the escalation of our military operations.”

In Benghazi, Libya’s second-largest city, gunmen killed an army officer late Saturday while he was driving home in his car, and early Sunday a former special forces officer was shot dead in the downtown Salmani district, a local security official said. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to brief reporters.

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya said last week it was temporarily withdrawing its staff because of the deteriorating security situation.

Christian families streamed out of the northern Iraqi city of Mosul on Saturday after Islamist fighters said they would be killed if they did not pay a protection tax or convert to Islam.

“For the first time in the history of Iraq, Mosul is now empty of Christians,” Patriarch Louis Sako lamented as hundreds of families fled ahead of a noon deadline set by Islamic State for them to submit or leave.

The warning was read out in Mosul’s mosques on Friday afternoon, and broadcast throughout the city on loudspeakers.

“We offer [Christians] three choices: Islam; the dhimma contract – involving payment… if they refuse this they will have nothing but the sword,” the announcement read.

It said Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who the group has now named Caliph Ibrahim, had ordered Christians who did not want to stay and live under those terms to “leave the borders of the Islamic Caliphate”.

As I just emailed you

1…The Rambus Site was added to the Goldtent server when it initially started up

2…the amount of usage was miniscule compared to Goldtent

3…we never expected the site to be so successful but when it did we realized that we were using more server space and

decided to  pay our fair share

When I sent Todd that email I was definitely mindful that we had never discussed this with the tent

That was an oversite…again we never expected our website to grow exponentially…but when it did

we immediately realized there must be a split in fees

The Final bottom line here is

When the new server was purchased in December 2012 there was as you say $840 left from the Tentathon in 2012

The January tentathon of 2013 paid for the balance for the new server

Nobody has paid anything since then  except me.

The Rambus Site has paid all server fees since that date

$3600 !

Nobody was cheated..except perhaps me

Someone asked why there was no tentathon this year

The reason why is because while the Rambus Site was thriving (ergo 80% of the server)

Goldtent was NOT (20%)

So I decided to quietly pay the whole fee ( and am reimbursed by Rambus Chartology)

Nothing nefarious about any of this at all

NOBODY is out of pocket because of the Rambus Site…Period !

Now for something that really bothers me

You say you have records of what Lunarpages has charged us

How did you get those records…I am the sole proprieter of the Goldtent – Rambus Dedicated Server

hosted by Lunar pages…If you called them and asked for a fee breakdown and they gave it to you

they would have to believeve YOU were Gary Magder

This seems fraudulent on your part and neglectful on their part

The Total Server fee IS $3,600  give or take

there is one large fee bur several small monthly fees and tri monthly fees !

HOW did you get that personal and private information is my question

If your actions were ethical then why did you think it necessary to keep them secret from the rest of the admins and posters at GT?

This “server controversy” aside I suggest you go to goldtent.com and click on “forum.” It will take you to a page that says: “This page can’t be displayed” error message. Do you think that this happened by mistake? It’s been this way for several months and AuDept has chosen not to fix it. AFAIC this shows that the writing is on the wall for the old goldtent. We had no choice but to move.

To you personally, I think that you were only peripherally involved in these distasteful shenanigans and I wish you the best of luck.

You know Moggy I’m not sure of that answer. Would it be when the first post was made here, or would it be when it was opened to the public? It seems like at the time we opened to the public that the PMs were moving in our direction and that’s what I was referring to.

For sure the birthplace is Key West. That’s where Wanka and Weston collaborated on the Oasis’s creation.

as far as i am concerned:  this is an alternative investment site  ( as in alternative medicine)  where posters share their insight  into their personal life style.

there are too many other sites that tell you how and why to buy this or that.  we all know that bullion is an insurance policy rather than a way to get rich quick.

i like the positive and negative of this site and will stay here !

This prepaid usage of 840 was for the year end July 2013

so the $240 you say was stolen by Rambus Chartology was in fact more than compensated by the fact that NOBODY

paid a red cent for any server usage for the period from the last tentathon until NOW

I have great hope that there will be a general revival of interest in the PM markets and this site will thrive

Presently I am OUT  OF POCKET $3600 (YES $3600)

the $3000 server fee was a one time fee which I just paid last month

there are other monthly and trimonthly fees which amount to $600

According to Vickers insider selling;  Hoch’s GORO share count went from just over 11 million last July down to the present 6 million.  Given that Hoch raised substantial money earlier for their other projects it looks like they don’t believe in any 200k ounces of gold production anytime soon coming from the GORO mine.

After upgrading the mill for increased tonnage it sure looks like the feed just isn’t there…….

I just randomly dropped in to the Tent to see what was happening

I haven’t been around much as you all know

many here think I am a judas or cretin or something

I see some posts eluding to the Rambus Site as not paying its way

for the server and being dismayed that YOU paid for the Rambus Site to become a pay site

Here is some clarification on that front

On the sidebar at Goldtent you will see there have been tentathons to pay for the server fees

The last tentathon was over 1 year ago

Someone had to give their credit card to the Host (Lunarpages) to pay for the server

That someone has always been me

The tentathon was successful every year

we raised enough money to reimburse me (minus my $100) donation as well

The Rambus site was set up 2 years ago

we used the same server as goldtent for expedience

The first year the hits were rather small and negligable

But the server costs increased as we migrated to a larger server

the tentathon was still great and covered 2 thirds of the server fee

I covered the rest personally and was reimbursed by Rambus Chartology

The Server now costs $3600 a year

As you will notice there has been NO tentathon this year BUT

I have paid Lunarpages $3600

This has kept the tent and Rambus Chartology humming along for the last 12 months

NOBODY has paid anything for the last 12 plus months

Except for me…Fullgoldtraitor

When the topic of the tentathon came up recently I spoke with wanka

we agreed that Rambus Chartology should pay a portion of the Server fees

and Goldtentathon a portion

we agreed that Rambus used 2 thirds and goldtent used 1 third

so Rambus would pay $2400 and Goldtent $1200

I realized that after 3 years of a devastating bear market the Goldtenters were

hurting and probably not in the best of moods to pay via a tentathon

so I decided to just pay the whole $3600 out of pocket and that is what I did

The payments are monthly for some of the services and yearly for others

the big hit was last month

Rambus and Audept are reimbursing me for their portion

So all in all Rambus Chartology has paid in full for the last year of service to keep

the 2 sites working

NOBODY knows how hard Audept has worked over the many years Goldtent has been in existence

to keep it running smoothly

If we had to pay him for his services even at $10 an hour we would own him a ton

BUT alas..He did this work as a labour of love and has never asked for a red cent

Unfortunately …and I am being as frank and candid as possible here

Audept and wanka had a falling out…which I tried to mediate but failed

I have no clue what precipitated this falling out

but the result was that Audept can no longer dedicate his time to the maintenance of goldtent

I suppose that is what has precipitated this migration to a new site

This is the first I have heard of this

THESE are the cold hard facts

Sorry I haven’t been around to monitor the situation

NOBODY contacted me personally to warn me of this situation

Since I am being candid here

I will say..my absence has been because we have a forum at Rambus Chartology

which I am moderating and it has consumed all of my computer time

Also This site has for long periods of time degenerated into such negativity

that I couldn’t bear to participate anymore

YES…Ramus Chartology is a pay site…BUT NOBODY here was tricked into supporting it

ALL the $100 donations over the years went into supporting Goldtent …period

By being involved with Rambus Chartology I have learned that the PM Markets are NOT NOT NOT

all about Manipulation all day every day

I bought that theory hook line and sinker for years

I was a big cheerleader fort that cause here…even shouted down the few who dared to question it

But my eyes have been opened to so much more and I and my portfolio have benifited greatly from this

new perspective .

I Love you guys..and am devastated that the tent is in disarray and facing the end

I used to love to update the Locator every time we had a new member show up

I painstakingly added thousands of links to the sidebar during those great boom years

We lost so many good posters..I believe because of the negativity and doom which has prevailed here

during this devastating period..and there were so few new ones that I suppose you could say

we have been dying a slow death anyway

Anyhow I would like to hear from Floridagold Ipso facto and Wanka as to what is going on

Bottom line..whoever spread the rumor that Fully and Audept were shysters who stole your money

should be ashamed

There is no one singular event that will ultimately loosen the manipulative shackles that the elite’s central bankers have maintained on the PMs [Precious Metals], as evidence continues to mount that Western countries, and the US, especially, are going under economically and financially. All central banks are insolvent, kept afloat by lies. The accounting rules have been changed to allow banks to price their assets however the banks choose. Most, if not all central banks assets, [just about all banks, as well] are worthless, or near worthless.

The sanctions charade that Obama keeps imposing on Russia is having some degree of affect, but overall, the US moves do nothing more than isolate itself from the rest of the Western world unwilling to risk offending their energy supplier and business partner, Russia. By extension, there are strong ties between Russia and China, and one of the pivotal business partnerships with both is Germany. As goes Germany, so goes Europe.

Austria has already picked sides, with Russia, for the economic writing is on the wall, but this country does not have the same influence/impact as Germany, but the path of least resistance keeps becoming clearer.

Germany is not about to jeopardize its long-established business ties with Russia. At least 3,000 businesses are linked to Russia, and they are not being quiet in their displeasure about any sanctions against Russia by the US. Further, Deutschland is increasing its economic ties to and with China. Between these three powerhouse nations, it is all about business and economic growth. With the US, it is all about fiat debt and war with little to no concern about which country[s] the US alienates in order to support its flailing and failing debt addiction.

Throw in the NSA spying scandal the US has and continues to wage against Germany, add the you-will-get-your-[non-existent]- gold when we say you can have it, and the clock it ticking as to when Germany says, “Genug ist genug!” Many measures have been taken that demonstrate a growing rift between these once-solid allies, and the only thing standing in the way of a complete breakaway is Chancellor Merkel, whose days have to be numbered.

Great to see so many old friends finding their way ‘Home’ over the weekend.  Looking forward to hearing from everyone, (well almost everyone cept The Great Tormentor, AuGal) and catching up on all the news. Sure does the heart good ( except for ole Kryptonite heart ) to see a lot of you folks again.
