We aren’t going anywhere until silver turns. SLV is near the bottom of a band of support at $21.50.

HUI does have more support at 260, different from what I said yesterday at 265.

Regardless, we are in trouble now. Let’s hope this is just the short, sharp correction.

At least at the moment we’re still holding $2K.

Rates are up 2 bips to 3.41%. USD flat to up slightly.

Will be watching the shares closely for any sign of a turn. They’re not too bad yet.

Re what it is

Gold was threatening to take out the weekly Hi close at 2028 from Aug 2020….which will send all TA watchers ape ..plus silver was looking to break up from a bull flag….

That said Gold has a monthly bull break out already….so this sell off may not be too long….However I do see weekly sell signals around from last week….so this move is a C wave down.

Ipso – agree with that. They can’t sustain interest rates at 5-6%. The Gov’t is more addicted to 0% rates than we the people.

deer79 – yes, and this is an oversized move to the downside – especially in silver – that came out of nowhere, like it always does. No real reason for the big of a hit, nothing to do with the PPI this am. Silver is trading like an industrial metal today, getting trashed with copper and the other metals. The PPI did one thing, it pointed out that demand is falling off a cliff. I’d think pm’s would like that news as the Fed will need to print their way out of it eventually. Pick your reason.

I thought days like this might be over for a little longer. This is not a technical move IMHO.

I’m watching HUI 265. That should be some serious support. If it goes, I will definitely be rearranging the portfolio. Sad to think it could even come to that. Gotta deal with what is for now.

the Asian markets overnight, and then
the bombings start with the UK, and carry over to our markets ( if that’s the right term to use).

This is unexpected. SLV has completely broken down. Shares and gold are in trouble.

I’d like to think it’s dollar strength, but I’m not sure that’s what this is. Very, very ugly.

I just saw your post after I posted mine lol I’ve been watching the border and Biden and Mayorkas now trying to blame Congress and wanting more money. For what, more free cell phones? Congress has been getting on Mayorkas while he just smirked at them saying the borders closed. Now all of a sudden it’s Congress fault yet refused to finish the wall or keep Trumps policy’s including staying in Mexico in place. Congress has been demanding Mayorkas resigns for awhile.
Border patrol had to stop a bunch of illegal migrants from sneaking across the border last night and cutting the razor wire.
Texas had to put cots in a park and hasn’t even started in earnest.

That might be good for gold but not liquify if people aren’t buying as far as silver. It will depend on stackers of silver and what disinflation will do. I was looking at the retracement of gold from the 80s and to see if it was gonna retrace down but it moved above it so far so that’s good.

2.3% YOY vs. estimates of 2.4%, 0.2% MOM vs estimates of 0.3%

Did the PPI numbers come in yet, Things are on sale as people are tightening their wallets and cost of living too high. Prudent wives can usually already know although depends on what your watching or shopping for.
Silver is also a industrial metal so if the industrial demand is down or dropping they won’t be buying so it could fall behind gold.

$2050 needs to disappear. Silver needs to right itself.

edit: 10 yr down almost 7 bips to 3.36% & the USD is coming back in.

Shares not down much, pretty flat.

So far, we’re getting hosed. Long day ahead though.

So gold has comeback and is now up $6. Silver, OTOH is still down $.30.

The 10 yr is moving lower in earnest, down 4.05 bips to 3.39%. The USD, OTOH is up almost .5%

Gold without silver, rates without the dollar. Strange crosscurrents that I’m assuming will get corrected as the day wears on – in either direction.

I can’t help thinking that the boys in London are trying to provide cover for the criminals at Crimex.

Although I thought it was all about CPI yesterday, when we got pm positive numbers.

Anyhoo, for some reason the USD is spiking and causing some discomfort in the metals across the board. All of the industrial metals are down, so silver decided to join and then lead the way.

GLD is only down $.20, but SLV is down $.40 to $22.90. I use SLV because I think silver’s line in the sand – which must hold – is $22.50. It was worse earlier with SLV down $.50

Shares are down, nothing too crazy. Rates up 1.5 bips. Oil up $.40

Nothing else of significance to report. We wait for PPI in a couple of hours.

I think we all been though it and probably more than once. At least she spoke the language where the call was coming from.
Other wise after telling her all you wrote you’ would of got something like,” so you want to cancel your card? Or “so you answered it online.” Or worse try to get you to hang up and put you on hold and don’t pick up because they can’t understand enough English to understand what you said if it wasn’t in their play book in front of them.

I have a local bank MC credit card with Hawaiian Air miles that is administered by Barclays. I rarely use it… mainly for online purchases. Always pay it off. Keep it mainly to keep my local airline miles account active.

Today I received a letter in the mail from Barclays saying my account had been blocked because they ‘tried to reach out to me’ and had no contact, and the Patriot Act requires them to verify identity… blah blah blah… Just sign in to your account online and…. (I had received NO prior notice of them wanting this information.)

DAMMIT! I do not do my credit cards ‘online’. I dunno what my account name and PW are. Tried following instructions to set up online account access… bounced. “Already Existing Account; Half an hour of frustration before the denial page FINALLY gave me a phone number.

Upon finally working thru the phone tree and getting a real, live, customer service agent, she said she could help me. The ONLY ‘patriot act’ question they wanted from me was…

“Has anything changed about your name, address, or income status in the past year?”

AYFKM? NO!

For this they blocked my account and hassled me. I was a millisecond away from cancelling the account and sending the card pieces back to them. Even the customer agent was a little amused when she said “That’s all they wanted!” She was nice about clearing my account and said she understands about not wanting online access… she does not do it either!

*#!% (Grumble)

Freaking unPatriot Act. Identity does not change. I receive my mailed statements, I pay my bills with a check with my account information from the bank. They have all the information they need. It is absolutely WRONG of them to assume everyone has online access and proficiency with their online account… and to not provide easy phone access to ‘customer services’.
