Don’t worry the dollar is never collapsing in anyone’s lifetime in this forum. Nada. Aint happening. Zilch chance. There’s always a way to extent their game, I’m 100% sure

Farmboy, regarding seating in those conversational cast-iron tractor seats,

Posted by Equisetum @ 13:01 on December 24, 2016

have you noticed in the ‘Poster Locator’ off on the upper right side of this website that the locator already has Farmboy sitting right beside Equisetum.  Mind you, I notice that EEOS is edging into line next to me, and on your side Ferret is lined up for his turn.  Once you and I can resolve whether siver will be selling for $22 by the time the southern pines in Georgia are shedding pollen in spring 2017 then we could give up the seats for a bit to let EEOS and Ferret go at it.  Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.  Equiz

ipso facto @ 19:00…..Interesting statistics, and scary if true!!

Posted by silverngold @ 22:13 on December 23, 2016

My wife just told me yesterday that she had heard on the MSM news in Canada that the average credit card debt in Canada is $22,000 per household. I just questioned her again but that is the only statistic she remembered. This is also scary but I have no backup for the info so it’s FWIW!!

Your report of 125% car loans is reminding me of the 125% loans against real estate back about 2006 – 2008 (as I recall). They were advertising refinance your home for 125% of appraised value. Having a real estate background in a past life I was sure questioning that one…..and we all know how that one ended!!

Federal debt has climbed 8% annually since 2000,128 but who cares because we have the reserve currency, can print the garbage at will, and are assured by the highest authorities that inflation is good and high inflation is even better. Meanwhile, friend and market maven Grant Williams has created a masterpiece of analysis of our debt problems.129 In the absence of a deflationary collapse, debt is reconciled to the downside at a geologic pace; it almost never happens. (Supposedly the Brits did it in the mid-nineteenth century.130) The problem is exacerbated by an inherently inflationary banking system that requires monotonically rising debt to survive. Where do you think the interest paid on savings comes from (when there is interest, that is)? Despite the current calm—possibly the eye of the storm—there are newsworthy events in the world of debt.

The consumer is stretched by having no savings and gobs of debt—huge net debt (Figure 13). An estimated 35% of Americans have debt that is more than 180 days past due.131 They are now buying used cars with 125% loans,132 presumably to cover the negative equity from their previous loan and help pay for repairs. The used car market is priced poorly owing to the overdeveloped credit machine created to sell the trade-ins from rentals.

One of the most oppressive of all debts, high-interest credit card debt, now exceeds $16,000 per household.133 The $2500 per annum interest payments are a death spiral for the average consumer earning less than $30,000 per year. The collective tab is nearing $1 trillion.134 Larry Summers blames the high debt-to-income ratio for the stagnant consumer.135 He may be missing the superimposed realization that they have no pension either (vide infra).

After a year and a half of one-way selling, the Treasury holdings in the Fed’s custody account have jumped by $60 billion in the past month, suggesting that central banks are once again back and aggressively buying US Treasuries.

Whining about what others can do and say while collectively they are the biggest and rudest offenders and ” thin skinned” people around. Now we have some gallery who wants Ivanka to take her art down. Anthony Bourdain who refuses to cook for inauguration which I was surprised by that one. Thought he was although open minded about all countries a American first.  Well guess they wouldn’t want to be served sour grapes anyways. And they talk about Thin Skinned.
