Sears has “substantial doubt” about its future

NEW YORK (AP) — Sears, once the monolith of American retail, says that there is “substantial doubt” that it will be able to keep its doors open.

Company shares, which hit an all-time low last month, tumbled more than 5 percent before the opening bell Wednesday.

Millions of dollars have been funneled through the hedge fund of Chairman and CEO Edward Lampert to keep Sears afloat but with sales fading, it is burning through cash. Lampert combined Sears and Kmart in 2005, about two years after he helped bring Kmart out of bankruptcy

According to a regulatory filing late Tuesday, Sears Holdings Corp. lost more than $2 billion last year. Adjusted for one-time charges, its loss was $887 million.

If memory serves regarding coffee beans, what you need to do is grind them up (but save two or three), sprinkle the grinds on soil you have prepared in a large tub/pot, and water sparingly. That way instead of having only one plant per bean, you will have the makings of a coffee farm.  Meanwhile, put the saved beans in a small sack, go outside at the Full Moon, and swing the sack counter-clockwise over your head while chanting:  “Beans, beans, do your stuff, make my coffee so I’ll have enough, that will last me forever and a day, I now kneel down and pray.”

At least pm’s went up on a down SM, down USD day. That’s about as good as it gets.

Only question is whether or not the HUI rise above 200 is a head fake or the beginning of a move to 220 again.

I don’t expect the USD or SM to snap right back this week. We’ll see.
