Time to take a look at who’s behind the UN and take names. Another swamp that needs to be drained. This is criminal.  Austrialia could better do this if we didn’t have a criminal enabler here and in Germany  but hopefully that will soon change. In the meantime hope they do it on their own.

That sounds like a great day for you and a memorable one for your students as well. One of those days which are diamonds in our memory.

I think some of the mining areas in Canada and probably the US as well have gone through multiple boom and bust cycles. Very interesting to see someplace like Marysville come alive again. Perhaps Zortman will as well …

Cheers

Think the nervous Nellies on Fall St are getting worried about Hillary’s chances?  Wondering what WikiLeaks will release next?  How much longer can they prop up the ‘Election Market’?

ipso_facto @ 17:53. Thank you for the Marysville, Montana, posting.

Posted by Equisetum @ 19:17 on October 27, 2016

Although I was never at the site of the former mining near Marysville, your posting brought back pleasant memories because in the mid-1960s when I was teaching soil/vegetation relations and plant ecology at the Univ. of Regina one field trip that I arranged for the students was to Zortman, Montana.  A couple of the students that kept in contact with me in the following years reminded me that the field trip to  Zortman was the highlight of their learning experience, and the same was true for me as well. The opportunity to observe undisturbed landscape, areas disturbed by mining activities, and natural ecosystem recovery after disturbance provided the perfect outdoor classroom in an area of the continent loaded with colorful history.  I was pleased to read in your posting that the Marysville area has hopes for a renewal of mining in its future.  Cheers.  Equiz

As a Near Ghost Town in Montana Watches, a Gold Mine Is Reborn

Posted by ipso facto @ 17:53 on October 27, 2016

MARYSVILLE, Mont. — “They say that history repeats itself,” said Shauna Simpson, standing outside this town’s only retail business, the Marysville House, a bar and restaurant. “I say, ‘Let it.’ ”

Here, it just might.

Marysville, a dot of a town in the mountains near Helena, was covered in gold dust in its heyday in the late 1800s. It was home to one of the great mother-lode gold and silver fortunes of the West, the Drumlummon Mine. Then it petered out — familiar story — to near ghost-town status through the long decades after the mine closed around 1904. Streets never paved in the first place became rougher; abandoned Victorian-era clapboard faded to gray in the Montana snows. About 70 people still call it home.

Now the curtain is going up on the town’s second act: the Drumlummon’s current owners announced last month that they had discovered a new vein that could be as rich, or richer, than the first. If the vein goes deep into the mountain, following the pattern of the veins the old-timers chased with pick and shovel, the new strike could be worth hundreds of millions of dollars, at least.

I hope you’re right, that it’s just a little profit taking. I wouldn’t want the reason to be that those in the know see more POG weakness coming.

I don’t think the PM shares will be moving opposite gold for very long. It just ain’t natural!

Gold and Silver in the Green, most of my miner stocks in the red, some like Mux 3-4%. Go Figure.

Just wondering if some of those stock holders, banks in particular, are booking in profits for the year. Especially if they think the paper markets are headed for a major downside after the election.

Been one heck of a ride for the mining stocks this year. Most up by hundreds of percents. Might just be some of the big players are taking some profits for year end? About the only reason I can see for the selling.

It sure gripes my as# when POG is up but the PM shares are down!

Gold_Titan1 @ 11:18 -Cobalt 60 bombs

Posted by Maya @ 14:37 on October 27, 2016

…are a particularly nasty ‘dirty bomb’ that will contaminate an area for a lifetime and kill all living things.  Theoretically, a number of these could kill all life on Earth as the fallout spreads around.   It’s a real ‘scorched earth’ doomsday weapon.  Why anyone would use it is insane.  It’s never been tested, but is easily accomplished by adding a cobalt jacket to a fission bomb.
