ipso_facto @ 17:53. Thank you for the Marysville, Montana, posting.

Although I was never at the site of the former mining near Marysville, your posting brought back pleasant memories because in the mid-1960s when I was teaching soil/vegetation relations and plant ecology at the Univ. of Regina one field trip that I arranged for the students was to Zortman, Montana.  A couple of the students that kept in contact with me in the following years reminded me that the field trip to  Zortman was the highlight of their learning experience, and the same was true for me as well. The opportunity to observe undisturbed landscape, areas disturbed by mining activities, and natural ecosystem recovery after disturbance provided the perfect outdoor classroom in an area of the continent loaded with colorful history.  I was pleased to read in your posting that the Marysville area has hopes for a renewal of mining in its future.  Cheers.  Equiz
