We had an extremely dry winter and summer. Our rain patterns have also changed. In the past it rained every day in the summer around 4pm. That did not happen this year.
we have had drought weather in the past such as 2007 we also had low levels of rain fall.

I keep hearing that on the news, they keep saying communism is getting popular with young people, I remember when the biggest new car buyer group were the under 25 years old.
Me and many friends right out of high school bought new cars with three year loans. So, all the complainers on the news and millions of others, probably all own foreign cars.
They helped other countries prosper, and increased poverty here in the USA. Pluss all the other things that we started importing after 1971 besides cars.
Tools, machinery, clothing, cooking utensils, coffee mugs, you name it and we imported them plus we imported poverty that is now voting on communism and socialism.
I knew the future would be bad by 1973, watching all the imported cars started to come in, even some of my dumb friends cheated and bought imports. I myself will NEVER own a foreign car.

If you own a store, and constantly buy MORE than you sell, you end up with a store full of cheap crap and no more money.

He told me about a Louisiana woman who bought a stately, two-story home on an expanse of property that included a picturesque pond and cypress swamps directly behind the mansion. When she first moved in, she noticed a relatively small baby alligator sunning on the bank of the pond located nearest the house. Initially, it was out of respect that she would take a freshly slaughtered chicken outside with her, tossing it to the alligator before hanging the clothes on the line. As months turned into years, she began to buy fresh turkeys instead of the smaller chickens to feed the growing alligator. First, it was one, then two a day.
One day when she did not keep to her normal routine of hanging clothes outside, she heard a loud banging on her back door. The banging was not the knock of a friendly visitor but of something much more menacing. Peering out of the window in her study located at the rear corner of her home, she was horrified to see a well-nourished, 12-foot-long monster banging its snout against the back of the house. It was no longer the small, lean reptile she once knew. The banging was continuous and becoming more incessant as the alligator demanded his gluttonous due.
Frightened, the woman ran to her refrigerator, where she had one remaining fresh turkey, retreated to her second-floor rear balcony, and tossed the turkey onto the ground away from the porch. She heard the thuds of the alligator as it moved toward the food and watched as it consumed the large turkey in one snap, then retreated to the nearby cypress swamp.
She called animal control who sent a man to survey the situation. Upon seeing the size, girth, and aggressiveness of the alligator, he asked the woman why she had waited so long to call. When she related the history of her relationship with the alligator, the man nearly shouted at the woman, what were you thinking! Can’t you see the monster you created?

He paused, “because sometimes the IRS loses, and that’s not good PR for the government.”
He continued as we walked. “Don’t you get it? It’s feeding the bloated alligator, and the alligator is now pounding on the door of every American, demanding more! Isn’t it time to recognize the bloat of what has been created and stop feeding the beast?”

That seems unusual to me. Of the 4 times I’ve been there it’s always rained a lot. One time beating a hurricane out. The weather man saw a possibility but only a possibility of a hurricane forming off the cost of Africa.
Probably good to have flostions in your car too with a window breaker.
This is just, not just but a river cold and fast. Even if you know what to do and know how to get out you know why in a sudden flood why it’s important to have a life jacket or at least something that floats. Things can get bad to worse real quick. Chance of injury are high along with it .
You can put those long flotation the kids use when they can swim but they can hold in to them to stay in longer. Spaghetti things they can be rolled up and put under the seat of a car.

I think most of us don’t mind the rain less it just sits there and rain till it floods. But flood and surges another story. Near beachfronts has taken a lot of homes. When I saw that about surges I posted it for you.
I used to do a lot of river rafting since a teen, it was almost in my back yard plus the Kern River famous for drowning hundreds. and fast moving water waits for no one and can be cold where hypothermia can set in pretty fast a matter of minutes if cold enough and not sure how to explain it but you lose your muscle strength and nerve connection to it, lose communication. Then there’s things in the water. In rivers it’s usually rocks you have to maneuver around. Some think if your in the water it’s safer to swim on your back and use your feet to push you away from the rocks which depends where, other times there’s so much rocks you have to maneuver fast away more dangerous areas and have to swim and push them away if too close. If you get slammed up to one it could trap you there with the force of the water and drown you. Sometimes moving so fast it’s like getting hit by a bat or something. Those were times I was free swimming of thrown off a rubber raft at the Kern not in a boat. I think it would be more dangerous in a surge with the kinda debris in the water could even get thrown over you or cut you up. Then the bacteria from that water on open wounds. You’ll have no land or high ground to swim to. Maybe get at least a class 3 four person boast easier to maneuver than a larger one. Tie a long rope to it on the inside In case anyone falls out. Wear life jackets due to hypothermia and or a wet suit and potential injuries. Even your dogs. A water proof compartment for a phone if it works you can wear. Bandanas for injuries. If they tell you to get out get out. Those who stay or wait to long and can’t get out by then no one can help them. Hurricanes like to move at the last minute so if near you, you have to stay alert but the other issues is evacuating because they’re sure it’s going to hit or have a big surge and doesn’t then the cry wolf syndrome can make people mad they went through all that trouble for nothing and don’t go next time and that’s usually when they wait too long. Plus surges can come in early sometimes. Ax friend on the Texas Gulf told me about. Where some beach goers thought they had more time.
Maya – Godspeed brother. We had those back-to-back hurricanes here about this time two years ago. No fun. Ours were two weeks apart and there were many people that had already started to get cleaned up and replace things when the second one came and washed it all away again. Glad you didn’t put the generator up.
Goldie – most of Florida has been in drought for the last couple of years, although this year has been a little better. They used to go down to 60 ft. to dig wells in our area, now they have to dig 100+ ft. to get to the water. Not looking forward to flooding of course, which will definitely come in the river areas, but we are overdue for heavy rains. Since I’m close to the beach/bay, I’m more concerned with storm surge than anything when it comes to flooding. My neighbor does have a boat though. 🙂
When the bigger waves 50-70 ft come in North Cal what it sounds like during El Nino any spectators better stay back on higher ground. Some waves ocassionaly will come inland and they’re not shallow waves.
East Coast could see storm surges. Double whammy both east and west with coastal flooding.

Lots of batteries and or rechargable batteries solar powered battery chargers. They have these multi.power sources lanterns now you can charge a phone with but better for light that can charge on a USB cord even in your cars, solar and a wind up for a minute or two to give you nhours of light you can keep by your bed if it comes at night. Case it last longer than your generator. Some of those car chargers with air for the tires have ports that can charge phones and ipads 14 or more times. Could be a busy hurricane season plus more than that.
Having just survived Hurricane LALA and five days without power, we now have tropical storm MOKE approaching this weekend, bringing lots of rain. I have not stored the generator away yet. If I disappear for a few days again, you will know why.
