BREAKING: Iran’s Parliament and National Security Commission is reviewing a formal draft bill on management of the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf to severely tighten transit rules, per Fars.
Under this draft:
1. US, Israeli, and all other “hostile” country vessels will be permanently banned from transiting the Strait of Hormuz
2. Israeli cargo (military or civilian) will not be allowed to transit through the region
3. Vessels or cargo that played a role in actions against the “Axis of Resistance” will also be banned
4. Countries and individuals that have caused damage to Iran will not be granted permission to transit through the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf until the damage is compensated
5. The entry of vessels will be managed by Iran, while the exit will be managed jointly by Iran and Oman, with fees charged on every vessel
6. Heavy penalties of up to 20% of cargo value for violators
7. Iran’s government + armed forces will be obligated to assume navigation guidance, monitoring vessel traffic, and protecting the security and environment of the Persian Gulf
