The Dept of Emergency Management employee that sent out the bogus ‘Missile Alert’ a few years back is still there… working. We are in good hands… NOT! What can you expect from a state department called… DEM.
Some heads should roll with their emergency department.
They never heard the sirens because someone didn’t bother to use them. Instead someone used Mobil alerts like everyone is going to be by their phone or TV and not even knowing if communication was still working.
Was there a warning system in place?
Hawaii has what officials have previously touted as the world’s largest all-hazard public warning system, which includes a network of over 400 sirens across the state’s many islands that can help alert residents and visitors to various kinds of threats.
The head of the state’s emergency management agency, Adam Weintraub, told the Associated Press this week that records do not suggest that those sirens were triggered on Maui on Tuesday.
Instead, Mr Weintraub said, officials used emergency alerts sent to mobile phones as well as TVs and radio stations.
In the wake of the fire, many residents have reported not seeing these, prompting speculation that they came only after widespread power and communications outages occurred on Maui.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday night, fire chief Bradford Ventura said that the flames – propelled by strong winds – had moved so fast that notifying residents became “nearly impossible”.
He added that the first neighbourhoods of Lahaina struck by the blaze “were basically self-evacuating with fairly little notice”.
On NBC’s Today programme, Mayor Bissen said that the fast-moving flames created an “impossible situation” because “everything happened so quickly”.
While he declined to comment on whether warning systems functioned or not, Mr Bissen said that 2,100 people were in shelters by Tuesday night.
At a news conference on Wednesday, Hawaii governor Josh Green said that destruction in Lahaina was “very difficult to anticipate, especially because it came in the night with high winds”.

“Firestorm” is the proper term
…for what happened to Lahaina. Fire moves fast in a 50mph windstorm. Many people refused or just plain didn’t have time to evacuate. One lady interviewed said they left the house in two cars, with the two sons in the following car. They lost track of the lagging car while driving thru the firestorm, and now cannot locate the two sons that were driving in that car. Officially reported at missing. Another lady reported her father refused to evacuate the house, and now his fate is unknown also. It was fast, and it was apocalyptic. At least with a volcanic lava eruption one has time to get out of the way. In Lahaina, some people did not get thru the flames while attempting to evacuate. The stories are heart-wrenching.

you’d be surprise how much cosmetic surgery both Sexes could have. One I know at 40 already had dental implants, face lifts and grey hair since 35 dyed.
They’re might be a lot of single women over there but maybe not all looking. My grandsons other grandma moved there and isn’t but getting away from one years after losing her husband of cancer.
With the increasing amount of seniors both male and female they have visiting nurses now that can go out to seniors homes and I know one but I don’t think they have to be nurses. They just go and visit for awhile so they have someone to talk to and a liaison for anything they need help with and tell their family if they have one.,
My friend a nurse l has lively ones not depressed and one told her that Covid was nothing lol My friend is retired but just wants something to do but still happily married. But one couldn’t stand to cook and loved to cook so I suggest a electric wok or frier she can put at a table. She told her family and it was a big hit. She’s back to cooking. A distant friend in Texas her husband survived something that after took some of his memory but slowly recovering, When she goes out for a while at her business he’d call her but forget to hang up the phone then get mad at her because she didn’t call him back. I guess westerners are different. They’re characters.

SM doesn’t like it much, pm’s flat, which is a little surprising. The shares don’t look super weak – also surprising – although we’ve seen that before and then they drop like a rock when the SM opens.
We got nuttin’ folks, no BRICS gold backed currency announcement. Nothing to challenge the dollar and rates are going to continue higher even though the economy is dying. Couldn’t get a contractor here a year ago, now I’m flooded with offers for everything in the mail. Building has slowed to a crawl in a state that has seen a huge influx of people the last several years.
None of this may matter a year from now, as I’m not sure what this country and the world will look like. I can’t imagine it will look better. The swamp is digging in and seem desperate to me. I have no doubt they will seek to break us. I’m not scared, at least the pain of watching pm’s will be over.
I am glad to see some of this bloated tech finally taking it on the chin, still so ridiculously overvalued.

I’ve seen a brush fire first hand and how fast they can move down a mountain that killed 10 young men and burnt others. I was suspicious in that case because I heard popping sounds at the top of the mountain like charges going off and a ball of fire come down like a jet then fire went up and with it a mushroom cloud. It wasn’t till recently that I learned a tiny bit of something electrical happened that started that fire that really got my imagination going when you don’t know enough. There was a Nike base farther up the mountain. Then I thought do they have that mountain wired for any threat including fires that could come their way to push them back with with possibly nukes up there?
When I saw Maui knowing how fast they travel I knew it was gonna be bad. I also knew they needed a emergency plan and and move fast including searching survivors first.
I just hope if they’re’s a next time they make a large clearing from the brush to the homes and have a emergency plan in place for at least priorities. First fast evacuation, then medical units for injured and shelter. I heard a person was rescued hours later from the water escaping the fire. Good thing that waters warm.
I hope they can set up longer term shelter with electric water and such for the locals. If these losers can do that for illegals they better we’ll do it for Hawaii and better,
It’s terrible, one survivor said it was like blow torch went through.
Im sure now any help is appreciated including cloths shoes tents food water, power sources to charge their phones anything and get a more permanent plan going SAP.
