Momentum

Momentum for CDE is strongly bullish. The 14-period Slow Stochastic oscillator is above 80, the level which many analysts call overbought. This means that investors have been actively purchasing shares and driving the price higher.

Volume

Today’s volume is on track to be heavier than usual, with 3,962,308 shares having traded so far. The On Balance Volume indicator (OBV) shows that longer term selling pressure has given way to near term accumulation by traders.

Volatility

Bollinger Bands^® use standard deviation of closing prices around a moving average to measure volatility. Presently, the Bollinger Bands^® for CDE are of a normal width, and signal that volatility has been in-line with the norm for this stock.

GLD is up on heavy volume. I think that’s a plus as long as we don’t reverse these gains.

Tons of resistance in the HUI between here and 265. I expect a battle.

The nice thing is that gold and silver are still holing a pretty good bid.

I see the USD is trying to mount a rally, but not really surging at this point.

No idea why the SM is rallying so hard. Maybe some Fed Speak?

We’ll probably never see the late June $1,900 low again, like we will never see $1,825 Feb and March low again or Sept Oct $1600 low either. This leg up started at $1625.

Should be dollar negative I think, but the USD is flat. Gold and silver were hit immediately but now firming a little. Still nowhere close to a serious breakout as of yet,

Aurum – I do think the dollar matters to gold, but only if the dollar goes up.

Anyhoo, the shares are still fairly solid in the premarket and didn’t react much to the news of the day.

Gold pops a few bucks and silver drops a few cents.

What do you want? To have your cake and eat it too.

GLD just above the 50 dma in the premarket, hanging by a few cents. As always, any and all resistance levels above will be fought tooth and nail. Any support levels below, won’t hold.

HUI same thing, stumbling right here at the 50 dma as well.

We’ll see how the day goes, but we can’t wait for more than a day or two more before we get a big pop or they’ll take us right back down in the crapper.
