I got in early in PMs before it opened this morning at 4 am since were 3 hrs behind here. I had to watch some stocks to topping and saw some PMs hopefully braking out so got in early before open after I sold. By open,  buying was busy and already up. Hopefully it will continue till around when the Fed speaks. Hopefully a 25 won’t upset the market too much but Dow seems to want to turn for now.
Nevertheless I grabbed a little in of Botz for down the road so I don’t forget about it with some of what I sold.

You’re right, there’s not a real good correlation. This the 4th straight up day for the shares, but the metals didn’t do much but churn for the first 3 days. The shares usually lead if the metals are going to turn higher.

If you look at a chart of the HUI, the pattern is identical to the bottom around March 6th. If it plays out, that is great news, and we should rally all the way to 320 or so.

We stopped right at the 50 dma, maybe we have a pause here, maybe not. The big difference is the downward momentum of the USD, it looks to me to be in some serious trouble.

Course all this could change tomorrow and they can take us back down hard. Doesn’t feel like it though. All hard assets rallied, and the big copper shares RIO and BHP rallied hard.

Good calls …tks

U have that wonderful gift of ‘smell’…..a priceless gift.

some days Gold is up 1.3% and my stock goes up 1 %

Posted by Ororeef @ 12:56 on July 12, 2023

other days like today Gold is up 1.3% and my stock is up 4.4 %  ..Its like theirs no connection ? The same stock comparison… So who makes the stock move ?    the question is WHO not what ?

@Buygold re what happens if the Fed raises rates to defend the dollar?

Posted by Mr.Copper @ 12:36 on July 12, 2023

Back in the 1970s higher rates were affordable for Americans. Living standards were high and low end pay were a lot higher, more buying power. So now 53 years later, the whole country is broke with a high national debt.

Defending the US Dollar against other countries would just make things worse for the US economy, so they have to make the USA more profitable, (with a lower Dollar) at foreign countries expense. Its really pretty simple.

They have to build us back up. We can’t go any lower. The past ways are all in reverse.  Who really cares about if the general Stock Market declines? Its already been too high for too long. But the PMs are historically cheap.

By the way, property taxes in my area double every ten years. Thats 7% per year the true inflation rate, pretty much for decades, 7%/yr.

Sounds good to me Mr. Copper

So far you’ve called this one too.

We have a long way to go and the HUI needs to get back above 280 and keep going, biut this is a good start.

The big boys know this, but what happens to the SM when it realizes the Fed is raising rates to defend the dollar?

@Buygold,Have No Fear, Gold Is On Its Way To New Highs Above $2200

Posted by Mr.Copper @ 11:19 on July 12, 2023

I called that freak $1060 bottom in late 2015 early 2016. And that recent $1600 low in Sept I called that one too. And that recent dip that went slightly below $1900 during the day, in late June, I called that one too. I’m pretty confident tptb are in loser mode for a long time. They can’t win. They may disrupt us occasionally, but they simply can’t win anymore.

Let’s hope this sticks. We’re finally getting a day like we should have. Silver busting a nut so far. Would love to see gold finish up $40, but that’s a heavy lift.

Here’s one

Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel-cell car goes 845 miles between fills—driven very slowly.

Ororeef

Posted by goldielocks @ 10:11 on July 12, 2023

Did I say I was going to buy it? I don’t know what the mileage does that would make it worth if and never asked a person who had one but she died suddenly. Also not many fueling stations.
I still remember that guy who figured who to convert H20 from water “ as fuel” in his car. They killed him over it. Can’t have something as free as water.
If they succeeded in making everything all electric which I hope they don’t imagine what the cost would be. See what happened in Europe?

Then dont buy it !….It will come down as usage grows,it has to be competitive or it wont grow !

Maybe trucks will find it works for them, maybe post office trucks will find it works for them .Maybe its not ready for cars….American business will find its best usage .

They already have hydrogen cars.

Posted by goldielocks @ 9:29 on July 12, 2023

The fuel is much more expensive.

Whats the RUSH !

Posted by Ororeef @ 9:17 on July 12, 2023

stop the hype from Gasoline to duel power,to electric,to Hydrogen…..The tech is not developed enough and besides each will have its advantages in different circumstances even wind , SOLAR,Nuclear ….let the best usage determine which is better for each circumstance, besides diversity is a real benefit. Not to be dependent on a single source of energy ,just look at Germany where energy is a political issue dependent on Russia .Do we want to be dependant on Canada for Nitrogen energy that needs fresh water and salt dome storage ? There dosent have to be a single type of energy ..one size dosent fit all. each will have a optimum size of scale .Stop the Political interference bullshit.WE need all types of energy and then we wont have to deal with the DarthVaders of the world (Bill Gates )that need to reduce world population(kill people)  to have enough energy.A slower Rising temperatures will benefit from Diversity .Diversity will make wars less likely.Nothing has to be all or none, there dosent have to be one winner ! Scare tactics dont help !Diversity will make WAR less likely ,trade wars less likely,Political interference less likely …small is better, less dangerous, less political .!

Nice early move, but I have my doubts it will last. SLV has a big level at 21.50 if we hold that I’ll be surprised. Shares look good but we know how that goes. Don’t mean to sound negative but you know the scum.

I think there might be a seller at $ 1950……….

Posted by Maddog @ 8:40 on July 12, 2023

but the dollar is suddenly not helping the scum.

The turbine hall floor was steel plate almost two inches thick , but the fire was so intense that the steel floor buckled like boiled lasagne .

Gulp !!!!

There is far too much complacency around Hydrogen….especially the Green nutters, they all seem to think all gas is just smelly air……

Holy cow…2 mins in and no sell off. ???????

Posted by Maddog @ 8:32 on July 12, 2023

Maddog – yes , hard to seal the tiny molecules and burns with an ‘invisible’ flame

Posted by Alex Valdor @ 7:46 on July 12, 2023

I was in a nuclear plant in Asia in the aftermath of a steam turbine failure . The attached generator was cooled with hydrogen – which is okay if there is no air (oxygen) inleakage . That was not the case after the turbine came apart and the huge shaft connecting the turbine to the generator failed . The turbine hall floor was steel plate almost two inches thick , but the fire was so intense that the steel floor buckled like boiled lasagne .

Re Hydrogen

It is a nightmare to move around….and just loves to explode.

A lot will depend on whether the Net Zero scam can survive….I think it won’t……..to convert our house to comply with Net Zero thinking, will cost over £ 100,000, probably £ 150,000 and it is just an average sized very old house…..

No way can I spend that money, to maybe stop 1.5 degrees of warming….slowly over here the realisation is dawning, of the insane cost involved in Net Zero.

Didn’t notice that oil is now above $75, did notice gas in our area is up $.15 and rising

Posted by Buygold @ 4:58 on July 12, 2023

It appears oil knows what’s coming.

Imagine this, the BRICS move to a gold standard, the US goes to buy oil from the Saudi’s and the Saudi’s say “sure but you must convert your dollars and pay us in Rubles or Yuan.”

Talk about a sea change.

The one saving grace we have here is the ability to be energy independent and quickly. Europe on the other hand, is totally screwed.

Ororeef – I agree completely

…and I think the batteries will be an environmental disaster at end of life .
I was present at the university’s Mech. Eng. lab garage door about a half century ago when an undergrad first got his antique Model A Ford coupe to run on compressed hydrogen . GLEE ! He got a patent and a couple of years later was a multi-millionaire . His family name was Billings , as was the company he formed . The Japanese were buying in , as was Joy Manufacturing (to produce vehicles for use in underground mines – the engine exhaust is water). Unfortunately the Billings company later was bankrupted .
I also recall just a few years ago , an elderly lady who used to sit behind me in church , who had a US hybrid . She evidently did not get the vehicle out on the open road enough to keep the battery fully charged by the gas engine and high speed braking , so the battery failed . (Low voltage = high current draw , hastening battery failure ). The dealer wanted close to $6000 to replace it – a total financial for her . Very sad situation .
