Even Americans were doing it. As the dollar exchange got wider Mexico increase the amount of money you had to make to become a permanent resident.
Also Americans didn’t know you could haggle and negotiate prices even for rentals. That caused prices to go go up which the Locals didn’t like understandably. Not just Mexico but other country’s people retire for a fraction on what it cost here and live well.
Now if the dollar starts to drop depending on how much that is going to be a hardship to a nightmare for a lot of expats. Coming back to inflation here isn’t going to help them either.
