SM futures up. PM futures down.

Nothing dramatic, but certainly doesn’t appear there will be any follow thru tomorrow to Friday’s nice rally in pm’s.

“We were always told Japan started it with Pearl Harbor, now I’m thinking “we” or the global minded people that influence us started the war.”

Mr. Copper, I think you’re right. It’s always been that way. Believe it or not, it’s not easy to get the general populace of nations to want to go to war with one another.

On This Date In 1941 Japan’s Emperor Hirohito rejected U.S. demands contained in the Hull Note.

I saw the above in the local paper, and asked myself what the hell is a Hull Note??? Basically the Hull Note was like a declaration of war. It sounded like “You do as you are told or we are at war with you.” We were always told Japan started it with Pearl Harbor, now I’m thinking “we” or the global minded people that influence us started the war.

Parts from research:

“In 1948, historian argued that the note was an ultimatum which meant unnecessary war. He suggested that at the time the note was delivered, Roosevelt and his advisors were actively planning for war and seeking to provoke the Japanese to attack first. Some modern Japanese commentators say that the note was designed to  draw Japan into war in such a way as to allow Japan to be presented as the aggressor nation. the Japanese government made the decision to move forward with the Pearl Harbor strike after receiving the ultimatum.
