That yellow locomotive with the Red/white/blue wings emblem on the front is indeed a Union Pacific locomotive from the USA side. It is not uncommon for railroads now to run foreign road locomotives as needed or convenient. They are accounted for as horsepower-hours paid to the home railroad. Because this locomotive was buried in the middle of the train, it was an unmanned ‘helper’ loco that is remote controlled from the front. Common practice on long, heavy trains going over mountains.
The size of the pileup and number of cars involved indicates there was substantial speed of the train. This will be a real pain for CP to clean up as this is their transcontinental mainline that is now out of service until restored. No VIA passenger service, and no transcontinental freight service.
You gave me a good idea when you mentioned ” See spot run.” ” Jump”.
Remember the Dick and Jane books from first grade on like Spot.
Was testing a six yr old grandson to see if he’s hyper or just getting anxiety from Phonics reading at school. Good in math can add double digits in his head but didn’t care about reading although he could.
I bought him Dick and Jane books on Amazon. Got the first one plus a cat book that came with it , reads the same and uses phonics, cat hat mat. See cat run.
Boy what a difference. You could see him light up and gain confidence, he read two 32 page books in a row and wanted to read them again.
Then again to see how fast he could finish the book. Then wanted to read more books. In a few minutes in one day from not wanting to read to wanting to read more books.
He could use phonics for words he didn’t know but most of the words repeat so he could easily add them to the repeated words. Just phonics is interfering with their comprehension and not remembering what they read or the words themselves. Takes them longer. These books they can remember and talked about them.
They can use phonics for learning sounds and how to sound them out and use these books that are repetitive and add new words gradually building their vocabulary so they don’t have to sound out every word they read giving them a headache and eye strain. They argue they are memorizing the words but eventually that’s what they’re doing anyways. That’s normal site not dyslexia but helps them too.
Or they start acting up call it hyper and give them drugs.
Schools failing them take control, it worked.
Gold investors getting nervous as it moved up toward the heavy barrier of 1350 I’ve already mentioned. It still has upward pressure like over China people forget about with all this ID man made crisis and Venezuela and their yuan. We’ll have to see what happens with trade deals but they don’t seem to be willing to play fair.
It’s better to have some shares from
Profit , in if you took any profits not to miss the move instead of buying the move less from profits if you lost out buyimh the lows if it breaks up over the 1350 wall.
Maybe we should get some advice from Mexico how to get past the wall.
It’s been a while since we posted an update on how “world-renowned commodity guru” Dennis Gartman sees the markets ever since his “watershed” – and correct – so far bullish call that “stocks are headed higher” following Jay Powell’s capitulation, made one month ago. And as one would expect, considering that the Fed has only gotten more dovish since then, there has been no change in Gartman’s stance, and if anything, the authord of the Gartman letter has only gotten more bullish
And not one word of mention or appreciation to the American taxpayer for supplying Israel from 1949 through 2015 with $127.4 BILLION dollars in aid…not adjusted for inflation.
Can you guess which country will never benefit from the cure?
A small team of Israeli scientists think they might have found the first complete cure for cancer.
“We believe we will offer in a year’s time a complete cure for cancer,” said Dan Aridor, of a new treatment being developed by his company, Accelerated Evolution Biotechnologies Ltd. (AEBi), which was founded in 2000 in the ITEK incubator. AEBi developed the SoAP platform, which provides functional leads to very difficult targets.
“Our cancer cure will be effective from day one, will last a duration of a few weeks and will have no or minimal side-effects at a much lower cost than most other treatments on the market,” Aridor said. “Our solution will be both generic and personal.”
The potentially game-changing anti-cancer drug is based on SoAP technology, which belongs to the phage display group of technologies. It involves the introduction of DNA coding for a protein, such as an antibody, into a bacteriophage – a virus that infects bacteria. That protein is then displayed on the surface of the phage. Researchers can use these protein-displaying phages to screen for interactions with other proteins, DNA sequences and small molecules.
That is an unfortunate bit of news. Loco crew of 3 perished, including a training conductor. Grain trains are heavy, and trains are hardest to control on a downslope to prevent runaways. If the train gets moving too fast, the brakes will not slow it and you have an uncontrolled runaway. I have read that the speed limit for trains running out of Field is only 5mph downslope. If the train hits 5mph, either the conductor or engineer is REQUIRED by regulations to pull the emergency brakes and bring the train to a full stop. This is a real pain for the crew as then they must wait for the train to repressurize the brake system for the whole train before they can move again.
I’m guessing that maybe with the distraction of training a new conductor in the cab, they didn’t pay attention to the 5mph speed limit and lost the train. It is real insidious if you suddenly find yourself at 10mph and the full emergency brake blowout will not stop the train and you are gaining speed downhill. Smart crew will jump overboard at that point.

The gap at $11.00 seems to be good support. Grain prices seemed to have bottomed and waiting on the Feb 8 USDA report. Bull spreads in all the grain markets are working well.
