Loading ...too right. a hurricane is first and foremost a rain machine. they come in three types:
wet
wetter
and wettest.
Upper level wind shear took the top off Lane and it collapsed… not a moment too soon. Islands downgraded to tropical storm warnings, and Honolulu is still going to have a bad hair day, but the storm is downgraded to ‘tropical storm’ status below hurricane, and expected to drift westward away from the islands.
But when you take the top off a hurricane, it still drops all the water. It is STILL raining in East Hawaii.

Our lava flows stopped several weeks ago, so all is quiet on the volcano. Then the weather comes along. Did you know that Hilo is the most ‘disaster prone’ city in the country? Earthquakes, volcano lava flows, Tsunami, Hurricanes… and today flooding.
National insurance companies will not write homeowners insurance in my zip code right now.
Does all that water put a stop to the lava flow?
So intense the way God handles nature. Hang in there, it will still be a beautiful paradise when all this is done.
Hilo side of the Big Island normally gets a lot of rain, but this went way beyond runoff capacity. Hilo town flooded. Highway north is closed with landslides where cuts made next to soft ground. Some reports upslope of 30 inches of rain so far. The hurricane has slowed to almost nothing and is sitting there like a buzz saw on our underbelly, slinging rain and wind now. Honolulu is essentially shut down, bracing for impact of wind and water. That island cannot handle as much water as we got on the volcano here.

It sounds like TPTB mistakenly think a shortage of labor will raise wages. Huh? Private sector Employers will always pay as little as possible on labor and taxes. Public sector employers are very generous with wages and benefits.

Well, gold just busted through $1200 at least in the futures market. Let’s see if it holds.
What I’d like to see is the shares get all their losses back from yesterday. That would be a change of pace.

While I know politics and ethnicity etc. are inevitable on a gold site where gold is such a piss poor performer, I think we all would rather not have folks raging at each other.

I’m away from home in a waiting room with an i-pad.
I have close friends here who are such a couple . He a Navy officer , and she a girl who still keeps her newfie heritage close . America IS more beautiful because of them . They brought sunshine to blighted lives . He died last year , of pervasive cancer , but in his last few days of life insisted on getting out of sickbed to go grocery shopping so that homeless folks could eat . As weak as he was , he made a difference in the lives of others , right up to the end . She carries on , to see that the homeless are fed . I wash the pots and pans .
But then again I don’t just go punching people in the eyes either. It’s not that hard to get along. Trust your gut
