I remember the Filipinos well ..They deserve our SUPPORT without any reservations ! If you were born before WW2 you would understand ! I am 100 % supportive of THEM..

The Philippines was a part of the United States as a territory until
1946 when by a majority vote the Filipino people decided to become
a nation among nations. Up until 1946 Filipinos were United States
citizens. The United States considered Filipinos character as of
unquestionable integrity after they achieved nationhood and afforded
the Filipinos the right to enter the American military directly from the
Philippines although they were no longer American citizens.

This American thought process of our Filipino brothers goes back
to World War 2 where their courage was show during and after the
Bataan Death March where Filipino men, women, and children who
were subject to death, threw both food and medical supplies over
the Japanese POW fences for the American and Filipino prisoners.
They fought side by side with Americans until General Douglas
MacArthur returned. The United States minted Filipino money
up until this date.

Because the United States of America was the “Mother Country”
from which they were afforded independence, the Filipino Constitution
is literally the United States Constitution with the “Philippines” replacing
the United States of America. In effect, every American who comes to
the Philippines already knows their Constitutional rights because the
Constitutions are the same. Many forget that although the majority of
Filipinos voted for nationhood, not all of the Filipino wanted to break
from being an American territory.

In today’s world, with China making claims on Filipino territory such
as Scarborough Shoals, which was the former United States Naval
target range, we as Americans must recognize that the Philippines
inherited their nation from the United States of America, who in turn
won the Philippines in the Spanish-American war. So when we transferred
our territory to the new nation – and gave them title to their lands, it may
come into question, just what right China has in making a claim based
on their territory claimed over 2,000 years ago?

The United States and the Philippines have a Mutual Defense Treaty
where this nation called the Philippines is the only secular Christian
value nation in all of Asia. This means as an American, we already
know how they think, their values of right and wrong, and their concepts
of freedoms, as we gave them their Constitution. And in doing this, we
added a very small footnote in their right to become an independent
nation – “so long as they can defend themselves”.

There is no other nation on Earth that is as close to the United States
as the Philippines. And, no other nation on Earth – not even Britain was
afforded the right for their people to volunteer directly from their nation
and be accepted without question into the United States Armed Forces.
The Philippines is our ONLY NATURAL ALLY in all of Asia. Many think
that Japan is, but they are wrong. Japan is our ally because we went to
war and to prevail we used atomic weapons. That is not a natural ally.
And if ever we are to help any nation in any part of the world to succeed,
should it not be a nation that We, the United States of America gave
birth to? I think the Philippines should be our top priority in all aspects
of allowing a nation to grow, succeed, and without a doubt they are our only
Natural ally on this beautiful planet named Earth

Philippines were allies of the US in WW2 ..They were very brave fighters sacrificed a lot to keep their country out of Japanese hands and with the Americans ..We should help them if necessary in any way needed.!Many moved to the US and were very welcome ! Duterte deserves our support …I remember during WW2 how they helped us and thier country ..They fought for freedom! Duterte is having the same problem we have ..DRUGS ,ISIS WE need him to HOLD the LINE on ISIS ..He deserves our help if needed..!

Mindanao is home to a sizable Muslim population, in contrast to the overwhelmingly Catholic remainder of the country.
The militants had reportedly taken over a medical center and replaced the Philippines flag with a black, ISIS-style banner.
Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) spokesman Lt. Col. Jo-Ar Herrera said that Isnilon Hapilon, the leader of the Abu Sayyaf Group, which has pledged allegiance to ISIS, was among the armed men.

  • President Rodrigo Duterte cuts short Russia visit to address the crisis

(CNN)Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte has cut short an official visit to Moscow after deadly clashes erupted between Filipino government troops and Islamist militants Tuesday in the southern city of Marawi.

ISIS’ media wing, Amaq Agency, put out a statement announcing that “fighters of the Islamic State launch a wide-scale offensive on positions of Philippine troops in the city of Marawi.”
Speaking from Moscow, Philippines Foreign Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano said that the violence in Mindanao, one of the Philippines’ southernmost islands, was Duterte’s priority, despite the high-profile visit to Moscow and St. Petersburg.
“(The Russians) understand that the security of the Filipino people, especially in Marawi and in Mindanao, is a priority,” Cayetano said.
“They understand that the presence of the president, President Duterte, is essential in the Philippines. But I will be staying behind. The agreements will be signed.”
Philippines President Duterte meets his Russian counterpart in Moscow, May 23.

The outbreak of violence has prompted Duterte to declare martial law throughout both the city of Marawi and the wider island of Mindanao, of which Marawi is a part.
Clashes between government forces and the Maute group, an Islamist militant organization based in Mindanao, began in Marawi, a city of about 200,000 people about 2 p.m. local time Tuesda

I buy stuff there. Don’t take away your wife’s fun.  Think of it this way, if they break it it only cost a dollar.  I bought some kites there. Heres a example. The four year old who just got himself off training wheels on his bike ties the 20 dollar kite I got on sale to his bike to make it go. As boys are everything must have action, The dollar one thrashed wasn’t as painful.

Good to hear from you! Grandkids are some fun stuff. You and I are very fortunate – as is Alex Valdor – and I’m sure others here to have the extended family experience. I had to tell my wife that she can no longer buy kites from the “Dollar Store”. Complete crap. 🙁

My wife always tells me when she goes shopping for the grandchildren that she gets stuff at the dollar store. I’m thinking (but afraid to say) that if you go to the “Dollar Store” and spend $500, it”s still $500!!!! Too funny. 🙂

Good to hear some personal experiences here from all.

Yep and Im enjoying it. Nope never crossed my mind to get a electronic one. Besides its a kids antique one.  Found him a real metal dump truck too. They’re all plastic now. All the grandkids have some antique toys including GI Joes” from 60s and their gear. One son in law  freaked when he saw it with the GI suitcase tried to put them up. Told him let him play with it. I got the ones still in the box for that for them. Buygold youd probaby like the one in the box with the scuba gear, This ones a plus Cuz it’s noisy.

Lol lol on the free upgrade. That can’t be as fun as the old fashioned ones though. I thought that was part of playing them? But quieter. Hope he keeps the volume low on the headphones so he doesn’t wind up with hearing damage later.

Goldie – LOL ! Just yesterday , one of my daughters emailed me …

Posted by Alex Valdor @ 17:00 on May 24, 2017

that my fifteen year old grandson ( One of my nine grandchildren in three stable families ) has taken a portion of his part time earnings and good grade incentive rewards to buy a used drum set . As a youngster , almost 60 years ago , I was a professional drummer and practiced at home – much to the annoyance of neighbors .

Fortunately , today there are digital drum sets , so one can practice using headphones as Farmboy suggested .

I got the impression that my grandson’s drums are the old fashioned kind … for a month or two until the family decides to give his a free upgrade to digital .

well I’m glad today

This whole US economy is one big charade. Even the so called “global economy” that feeds off US taxpayers and US consumers is an even bigger charade. Too much instabilities with currency values etc. TPTB are doing a RAIN DANCE. 🙂

Maya … Re: Gardening – brush, weed removal

Posted by ipso facto @ 16:24 on May 24, 2017

It may sound a bit odd but my hand gardening tools have a hierarchy. Basically tools which can damage me I take better care of and have more respect for.

In order of respect.

Axe – sharp, no rust
Machete – sharp, clean
Mattock – always clean of dirt
Shovel – clean of dirt
Hoe – clean
Rake – Ha I spit on you rake! 🙂

ipso facto @ 15:58 What Boat?

Posted by Farmboy @ 16:21 on May 24, 2017

I assumed it was tied to the missing dock?

Don’t worry Macroman, if I see a boat come floating by I will latch onto it. What kind of ‘finder’s fee’ could I expect?

🙂

We have had about 6″ of rain the past couple days, and more to come. Wouldn’t surprise me to see a boat drifting down the street.

According to CNBS, the stock market loved that fact that the FED is going to ‘gradually’ dump a couple trillion. (HUH???!)

Don’t think the Dollar reacted with the same insane vigor.

Gold should have jumped a hundred bucks. It is the only currency with NO DEBT. Oh well, we take our breaks when we get them. Nice to see some green at the end of the day.

Congrats on the six grand kids. I bethca they will cut you a deal on 6 sets of drums ! LoL
