Loading ...every so often i take a month off in the summer and go on a rambling camping trip – road trip in the fly-over areas of the west. there are quite a few left-over little jewels from the wpa, the ccc, and other depression era programs:
granite creek hot spring, a concrete pool fed by a natural hot spring. high in the mountains about an hour out of jackson wyoming.

lolo trail/lolo motorway, the old ridgetop indian trail across the bitterroots in idaho, just west of missoula, montana. lewis and clark came this way. the ccc made a section of it into a one lane dirt road. below is a link to a helmet-cam motorcycle trip on a small part of it. the views from the ridges are a lot better than those from the roads the white-eyes build along the rivers down in the bottoms.
lots of wildlife. with luck, you can sight a jackalope, and now, kangas!
