Uncertainty in U.S. Economic Influences Gold

Posted by Mr.Copper @ 11:34 on January 19, 2017

Part:

Uncertainty in the global financial market continues to boost gold price in the first month of 2017 as investors considered the precious metal as safe-haven asset. Societe Generale Head of Metals Research Robin Bhar said in a statement, “Trump’s stance on trade and protectionism has been well aired and it will always be a key factor. But until we get more clarity on what exactly it means, this should help to underpin gold…

This year there are lots of uncertain political events, including elections, so if you looking for a bit of a refuge from stormy seas gold will be one of those safe assets that you would park some money in.”

Only I slightly disagree with Garths conclusions about unanswered prayers. I believe ALL prayers are answered…..Just sometimes they are not the answers we were looking for at the time.  But looking back in hindsight we can see that we did receive answers to ALL our prayer…..just sometimes the answer was, in GODS wisdom, “NO”, and that has kept us on our right path.

Good morning Oasis

That was the best (nay… ‘only’!) documentation I’ve seen of the spiral tunnels.  Clicking on the picture brought me to even more documentation of the tunnels, including terrain maps.  Interesting that the ‘old line’ needed a 4.4% grade which is killer to a heavy train, and sometimes to the crew also.  The redesigned switch-backs with spiral tunnels at each end  took the grade down to a manageable 2.2%.   As an aside… US railroads have abandoned routes of 3% grades such as Tennessee Pass in Colorado and Raton Pass in New Mexico.  Raton is now only used once a day by the Amtrak Southwest Chief.  It’s just not economical to send freight over those steep hills.

The CPR did an amazing job of engineering the terrain back in 1909 for Kicking Horse Pass.

Have to disagree.   The less they “get done”  the better.  I say pay’em and send the whole bunch home and prohibit them from passing any legislation.  We’d be better off.  No one is safe when the legislative body is in session.

I didn’t think this was really that bad of a day considering the strength of the bounce in the USD. Could have been a lot worse. At least they appear to be working in tandem?

Wouldn’t surprise me if we get smashed again in the morning, but if we recover throughout the day I would think that would be pretty positive.

eeos mentioned $17.35 silver as a fighting point, I’d guess they’ll also try to get gold below $1200 to instill some fear, hope they don’t but it would be no real surprise if they do.

Might be a Trump slam in the SM following inauguration, who knows? Real question is how gold will react.

All of course, JMHO

In USA , it is ‘America’.

Throughout the old British Empire , it is ‘God Save the King/Queen’ .

And apparently something akin to that for the Kaiser, back in the day, as you posted  .

Remember that the royal ‘Windsor’ family of the UK and elsewhere , were imported from the same region as the Kaiser , and are likely related , as they were to the ill-fated family of the late Czar of Russia , whose pleas for asylum a century ago were ignored or rebuffed by the Windsors .

which it is possible to get a good camera view of the portals for the CPR’s spiral tunnels.  The link below does contain at least one photo image of the upper and lower portals of one of the circle tunnels  (See the largest central photo in the photo collage of the link below).  Relative to the overall elevational gradient of the broad mountain slope, the elevation difference between the lower portal and the upper portal looks minor in this central photo, but the elevation gained on the gradual grade in the two tunnel circles is enough for  the lift needed to get the rail line up to the elevation of Kicking Horse Pass.  Beautiful countryside through that pass.  Cheers.  Equiz

re MoC orders…tks for that.

I wonder who is doing that….I know the institutions, buy @ the open and @ the close…..but not just MoC. They do that so they get close to the average of the days range, obviously it does not always work, but long term it is close.

Haven;t been watching too closely last few days, so not sure if the institutions have been in, but looking at how the PM shares lagged, i doubt it…but maybe tdy they started.

Cheers.
