The tipping point was nine eleven 2001. The “confirmation” or reversal period of de-globalization started after the global crash in 2008.

Re: Chemical weapons

AFAIC none of the intelligence agencies have much credibility left. Automatic disbelief is probably the most accurate view.

I just wonder if the attack wasn’t just an attempt to evoke retaliation of some sort or to get the Russians to warn Israel.

I haven’t heard the reason for the attack. In the past Israel has bombed weapons shipments which were destined for it’s enemies.
