about in-line which really means “better than expected” so we have to give a little back after yesterdays’ strength

Nothing too crazy though, a dead cat bounce in the USD and big bear market bounce in oil. We’ll have to see if the big money dumps into the strength.

It would have been a huge surprise if we had follow thru after yesterday. Maybe a chance to reload.

I’m so glad to get Armstrong updates

Yep and those boots will be filled with more insurance. Well those shooting stars was a sign for today when wasn’t evident in the phyzz yet. Armstrong isn’t too good or concerned with short term trading where his down is up and his latest yesterday up is down. Think he’s more concerned with the long term and says both equities and gold will move together at some point. That it’s all about timing. Yeah timing sheesh. Good news is maybe if there is a last low it won’t be a lower low. One good point he makes is while people are speculating recession we’ve been moving in deflation Duh Here any ways not globally and we see by Windocs post gold DOES move in inflation per their dollars just not only from loss of confidence. I can only imagine what it cost in the yuan right now.

Questions grow over banks as profit warnings pile up

Posted by Farmboy @ 6:36 on February 12, 2016

PARIS (AP) — Questions are growing over the financial health of banks, particularly in Europe and the U.S., as they face a toxic mix of low economic growth, bad loans and squeezed earnings.

France’s Societe Generale became Thursday the latest bank to issue a confidence-shattering profit warning, which helped trigger a new sell-off in financial stocks. The bank saw its share price stumble 12 percent and major rivals like Deutsche Bank and UniCredit saw losses of nearly 10 percent.

European banks are not the only ones to suffer. Japanese bank Mitsubishi Financial fell 7 percent on Thursday. In the U.S., Morgan Stanley, Citigroup and Bank of America are down more than 30 percent so far this year.”

Oregon standoff: Last four occupiers surrender at Malheur refuge

Posted by ipso facto @ 23:29 on February 11, 2016

BURNS โ€“ The occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, undertaken 41 days ago with guns and threats, ended Thursday with the peaceful surrender of four holdouts after an hourlong negotiation with the last protester.

Those taken into custody by the FBI were David Fry, 27, of the Cincinnati area, Jeff Banta, 46, of Elko, Nevada, Sean Anderson, 47, and his wife, Sandy, 48, of Riggins, Idaho. They each face a federal conspiracy charge for their role in the occupation, joining at least 12 others already arraigned on that charge

Some of the miners I see the filing SCHEDULE 13G/A (re NSU) type forms, big positions being taken by investment management companies with the final note below…..

“By signing below I certify that, to the best of my knowledge and belief, the securities referred to above were acquired and are held in the ordinary course of business and were not acquired and are not held for the purpose of or with the effect of changing or influencing the control of the issuer of the securities and were not acquired and are not held in connection with or as a participant in any transaction having that purpose or effect.”

CDE form 13G/A Van Eck and Vangard.\
AGI form SC 13G/A by Van Eck
SAND form 13G/A Van Asso and Sentry Investments
Countless others, SBGL, AG, TAHO, GORO on and on. Obviously a lot of new big positions being taken.

Well good friend, if your scenario comes to fruition then I suspect bank shutdowns won’t be far behind and chaos will reign.

Kind of a big story, no? Banks placing large phyzz orders? Why?

Posted by Buygold @ 20:42 on February 11, 2016

But thatโ€™s just part of the story. As reported by the World Gold Council, the buying really started to pick up in the fourth quarter, courtesy of the Chinese and central banks. Reuters notes:

Buying by central banks as well as Chinese investors seeking protection from a weakening currency helped lift demand for gold in the final quarter of last year and the trend looks set to continue, the World Gold Council said on Thursday.

Chinese demand for gold coins surged 25 percent in the fourth quarter from a year earlier as consumers sought to protect their wealth after Beijing devalued the yuan currency. But stock market turmoil and a slowing economy knocked consumer sentiment and Chinese demand for gold for jewelry fell 3 percent from a year earlier, WGC said.

Central banks have been buying gold to diversify their reserves away from the U.S. dollar and their purchases edged up to 588.4 tonnes last year, second only to a record high 625.5 tonnes in 2013, the report showed.

Central bank buying accelerated sharply in the second half of last year and jumped 25 percent in the fourth quarter, from a year earlier, as the need to diversify was reinforced by falling oil prices and reduced confidence in the global economy, WGC said.

Chinese demand for gold totaled 985 tonnes last year, followed by India on 849 tonnes. They accounted for nearly 45 percent of total global demand, with consumer demand up 2 percent and 1 percent respectively in those countries.
