And even if you could somehow source American only parts…then what? What would you have accomplished? Best price? Not necessarily. Best Quality? Ditto! You can run the flag up every morning and salute till your hand is numb. But, if you end up buying an inferior product then you have endorsed inferior management and rewarded their personal lifestyle so that they can prosper in their ineptitude.

Good news, the Quikee Mart got wifi. DJmm came outta the closet for a tweek from an Oasis legend…

Mr.Copper @ 21:07 Made in America??? Pretty tough to be sure nowadays

Posted by silverngold @ 21:31 on August 29, 2015

These days, automakers manufacture and assemble vehicle…

It used to be pretty obvious which cars were built in the U.S. (Detroit’s Big Three of Ford, GM and Chrysler) and which weren’t (everything else). Then in the 1980’s the Japanese started building cars here, which made for some interesting arguments about what constituted an “American” car. But in today’s global economy, it’s even harder to answer the question: Is your car made in America?

Many consumers looking to buy an American-built vehicle are having a hard time finding one that’s assembled here with 100-percent American-built components. That’s because it’s actually impossible, at least if you’re talking about buying a car from the major carmakers.

Made In U.S.A. (Partly)

For example, while Jeep’s Patriot may be built in Belvedere, Ill., its transmissions originate in Mexico, Japan and Germany. Similarly Ford’s Michigan-assembled Mustang may be as American as mom, Marines, and apple pie, but its transmissions come from China, France, the U.K., and Mexico. Chrysler’s PT Cruiser isn’t even built in the U.S. – it’s assembled in Toluca, Mexico, though its transmission is U.S.-sourced. GM, meanwhile, builds its Chevy Camaro in Canada and its GMC Sierra pickup in Mexico.

Confusing? Yes. But that’s not the start of it. BMWs are now built in the U.S. and so are some Mercedes vehicles (in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Vance, Alabama, respectively). With Japanese carmakers having established multiple assembly plants across the U.S. and American car companies operating plants in Canada and Mexico lines are blurred further.

So what makes a car American? It’s a rancorous debate that’s sure to rumble on, but consumers can make up their own minds based on information that’s appeared on the labels of every new car for sale for years. This states where the vehicle was assembled and where the engine and transmission originated.

American cars got bad only AFTER imports were introduced, because domestic makers had to cut corners to compete against artificially cheaper subsidized imports. Just like bad cheaper money drives out the good money. Cheaper imported cars drove out the good domestic ones.

Lately Toyota and others are in trouble all the time. Toyota air bags that emit shrapnel. Remember the Toyotas that accelerate by themselves? People that avoided domestic cars, and started buying imported cars years ago, did EXACTLY what the gov’t wanted them to do.

I refused to do what the gov’t wanted me to do and stayed loyal to domestic.

6db2f71a92last week a broken sewage pipe fouled up the beach at Waikiki. News clips showed tourists swimming in the water  even when told it was not a recommended thing to do.  Sorry about the picture.  It’s the only one I have of people splashing in the water.

I remember that and the scandal it caused when a ford engineer admitted ( after he had retired) that ford decided it was cheaper to just pay out the death insurance rather than recall all the pintos. You wonder why some of us don’t buy ford etc!

Note:
All that crap already happened years ago. Your title or subject is a clear sign of change. Reversal. They know they took us down too far. Its actually China’s turn now for “harvesting”. Clamp down on them and ease up on us is the new stealth plan. Its really time to be optimistic.

Ultimately, all tax absorbing local gov’ts, all foreigners, global businesses, and foreign gov’ts all depend on the wages of the entry level workforce. Believe the unbelievable. This is why all the new higher hamburger wage stories. They are FLAILING, too little too late.

To equate the 40s thru 60s minimum wage should be $22/hr today. Higher skilled would then get $40/hr instead of the $24/hr avg wage of today.

Then in mid to late 1970s they told Americans…

“We don’t like or want the smoke stack industries”
“The rust belt also polluting the environment”
“We don’t want those menial jobs”
“We are going to be a service economy”
“Competition (unfair foreign) is good”
“The consumer will get higher quality cheaper imported cars etc”
Corvair..”Unsafe at any speed”.
Ford Pinto, Chevy GMC Pick Up, will blow up on side impact”

Jap cars all around here end up on their side, or upside down. Often they also go on fire. A husband and two little girls killed here recently after being rear ended by a speeding drunk.

Absolutely no “hoopla” about dangerous light small imported tuna can cars. The communist media is very pro foreign biased. They always said the USA was fat and spoiled.

You must be a very young guy, or never in manufacturing business if you don’t remember all the “VASOLINE” the unwary unpatriotic public got, to hate domestic cars, and the United Auto Worker union. In fact, they killed any unions. Global businesses have been avoiding US taxes and US labor for DECADES.

Before the 1960s “competition” US cars were the best on the entire planet. Many from the 1950s still being used daily in Cuba.

Obama is only one of many before him. Naturally worse than all because the REAL gov’t is in trouble, and pushing their stupid ways harder faster before they lose everything. I hope Trump gets in, reneges all past laws and treaties designed to impoverish the USA, and avoids being assassinated.

That would remind me of the newly elected in south or central America that take away or rescind mining licensees giving to global corporations, and the communist global media promptly calls them communist leftists but are really local rebels or heroes defending their country against global welfare powers and global corporations.

Stories:
According to a now debunked 1993 report which aired on Dateline NBC, this arrangement made the trucks capable of exploding when involved in a side collision.[55] The faked video was staged by an expert witness for hire against GM, Bruce Enz of The Institute for Safety Analysis.

Enz used incendiary devices and a poorly fitted gas cap to create the impression of a dangerous vehicle.[56] It was also revealed that the Dateline report was dishonest about the fuel tanks rupturing and the alleged 30 mph (48 km/h) speed at which the collision was conducted.

The actual speed was found to be higher, around 40 mph (64 km/h), and after x-ray examination of the fuel tanks from the C/K pickups used in the staged collision, it was discovered they had not ruptured and were intact.[57][58]

“They hogtie economies and kill jobs”
“None of these hard realities seems to bother President Obama”

Comment:
Obama has absolutely noting to do with any of the above. The “world” or “shadow” gov’t mandated all of that before 1980, even our beloved Ron Reagan could not stop it. Each and every president was powerless to self protect the USA.

Primary purpose of the above was global welfare. Take from, partially shut down the USA, to move, aspirations and opportunities and USA wealth to poor nations.

In the 1970s, you had be a real self centered, non patriotic, jerk to buy an imported car. Its too late now, so bon apatite. Out of work? Hungry? Eat your import.

Egypt bids for two advanced French helicopter carriers – counterweight to the Iranian navy

Posted by ipso facto @ 9:58 on August 29, 2015

Egypt is in advanced negotiations with France for two highly advanced French Mistral class assault-cum-helicopter carrier ships that were originally destined for the Russian Navy. debkafile’s military and intelligence sources report that this deal, if it goes through, will substantially beef up the regional lineup of the Saudi, Egyptian and Israeli navies. The new vessels would enable it to contest Iranian naval challenges in the Mediterranean, the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf, and alter the balance of strength between the opposing sides.

Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have given presidents Abdel-Fatteh El-Sisi and Francois Hollande pledges to fund the transaction at $800 million per carrier.
The Mistrals will join the missile ships of Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Israel and six Dolphin submarines which, according to foreign sources, are capable of firing nuclear-tipped ballistic missiles. Their delivery comes at a time of strengthening strategic ties among Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Israel.
