Yup drb2, the double edge sword. I have maintained that if the US wants to get out of the deflation funk, let the gold price float free.

Posted by macroman3 @ 22:55 on April 1, 2015

And then before Weimar hits Uncle Buck, state the US has the most gold and therefore the reserve currency. Why let China have that mantle so easily? A weak gold price just gives China more power.

So simple, even a Monkey in the Whitehouse could understand. Sorry for insulting Monkees.

drb2 – I do believe confidence in the US Gov’t is failing, not only here but around the world. Jack Lew came out today and said that the Chinese Yuan shouldn’t be allowed into the basket of IMF SDR currencies because it wasn’t “strong enough or well enough supported”. I bet the rest of the world calls bullshit.

IMHO, our gov’t is viewed by the rest of the world and some of our own people as being nothing but a fraudulent, warmongering, lying thieving band of thugs and that’s exactly what we’ve become.

Silverngold – I like Alex Jones but he is a fearmongerer and never touches the real issue about what’s wrong with our country, just like so many others like him.

An epiphany?

Posted by drb2 @ 22:28 on April 1, 2015

I was thinking about what Armstrong, and others, have said – “Gold won’t rise until confidence in US government falls”.

What if the reality is:  “Confidence in the US government won’t fall, as long as the dollar price of gold does not rise”.

it might explain a lot.

I’m sure China doesn’t mind playing along while trading their dollars for metal at a discount.

Heres a Recipe from WW2 to kill Bacteria might also work for MRSA

Posted by Ororeef @ 16:00 on April 1, 2015

we used it as an eye wash to kill eye infections ..”sty ”    one level teaspoon  Boric Acid in a 6 ounce cup of boiled water  ..let it cool …bath eye area or use a steril dropper

I prepared it when I was 6 years old and still use it …back then I dipped a cotton ball in it and swabbed it around the eye making sure some got in the eye.

You will notive Boric Acid is still used in commercial eye washes …it costs about a penny to make or $5.00 to buy ..

A Petition Worth signing!!

Posted by silverngold @ 14:30 on April 1, 2015

Silverngold – Did you know 1 in 3 Canadian children are overweight or obese? That’s why Jamie Oliver is asking you to sign his petition.

JAMIE OLIVER NEEDS YOUR HELP FIGHTING FOR FOOD EDUCATION

Jamie Oliver
United Kingdom

Hi guys, Jamie here.

I urgently need your help to make a real difference. We’re currently facing a global obesity epidemic, with 42 million children under the age of five either overweight or obeseacross the world. The bottom line is the next generation will live shorter lives than their parents if nothing is done to rectify these alarming stats.

So I’m asking that you do two simple things – first, please sign this petition to show your support for compulsory practical food education in schools across the world, then, most importantly, share it via your social networks.

It’s essential that we arm future generations with the life skills they urgently need in order to lead healthier, happier, more productive lives. I passionately believe this is every child’s human right and I hope you agree.

If you can help me get millions of people to sign this petition, we cancreate a movement powerful enough to force all G20 governments to take action. Food education will make a difference to the lives of the next generations, so please help. I can’t do it without you.

Sign it, share it and let’s inspire governments to do the right thing.

Big love

Jamie Oliver x

Why the G20?

The G20 comprises of 19 countries plus the European Union. It is the premier forum for it’s members’ international economic cooperation and decision-making. The G20 is an international forum for global cooperation in today’s world. Its response to the global financial crisis is a testament to the impact G20 members can make when working together. With the world now free from immediate economic crisis, the G20 is increasingly shifting its attention to driving practical actions that will lead to sustained global growth.

Obesity is one of the three biggest social burdens created by human beings alongside smoking, and armed violence, war,  and terrorism. Obesity costs $2trillion dollars globally each year. The G20 has a vested interest in addressing this burden and the tools to realise the solutions, making it the ideal target for this petition.

FYI: 1,000-year-old onion and garlic eye remedy kills MRSA

Posted by silverngold @ 13:20 on April 1, 2015

Bald's LeechbookAn eye salve from Anglo-Saxon manuscript Bald’s Leechbook was found to kill MRSA

A 1,000-year-old treatment for eye infections could hold the key to killing antibiotic-resistant superbugs, experts have said.

Scientists recreated a 9th Century Anglo-Saxon remedy using onion, garlic and part of a cow’s stomach.

They were “astonished” to find it almost completely wiped out methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus, otherwise known as MRSA.

Their findings will be presented at a national microbiology conference.

The remedy was found in Bald’s Leechbook – an old English manuscript containing instructions on various treatments held in the British Library.

Anglo-Saxon expert Dr Christina Lee, from the University of Nottingham, translated the recipe for an “eye salve”, which includes garlic, onion or leeks, wine and cow bile.

Experts from the university’s microbiology team recreated the remedy and then tested it on large cultures of MRSA.

Analysis

Tom Feilden, science editor Today Programme

The leechbook is one of the earliest examples of what might loosely be called a medical textbook

It seems Anglo-Saxon physicians may actually have practised something pretty close to the modern scientific method, with its emphasis on observation and experimentation.

Bald’s Leechbook could hold some important lessons for our modern day battle with anti-microbial resistance.

In each case, they tested the individual ingredients against the bacteria, as well as the remedy and a control solution.

They found the remedy killed up to 90% of MRSA bacteria and believe it is the effect of the recipe rather than one single ingredient.

Dr Freya Harrison said the team thought the eye salve might show a “small amount of antibiotic activity”.

“But we were absolutely blown away by just how effective the combination of ingredients was,” she said.

Dr Lee said there are many similar medieval books with treatments for what appear to be bacterial infections.

She said this could suggest people were carrying out detailed scientific studies centuries before bacteria were discovered.

The team’s findings will be presented at the Annual Conference of the Society for General Microbiology, in Birmingham.

I thought the US was trying to join?

Posted by ipso facto @ 10:07 on April 1, 2015

Taiwan and Norway are to join the new Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).

They become the last countries to apply to the China-led bank before the Tuesday deadline.

They join more than 40 members, including Australia, South Korea, Britain, France, and Germany that have signed up to the development bank.

The US and Japan have refused to join, with both countries worried about standards of governance.

There are also concerns over whether loans will carry adequate environmental, labour and social safeguards.

The AIIB will help finance construction of roads, ports, railways and other infrastructure projects in Asia.

It was launched with 21 members in October, and will have an initial capital of around $50bn, with China expected to be the biggest stakeholder.
