As a nurse many years ago the 80s  we were warned that we don’t assume older seniors are free of Aids or STds because they could visit prostitutes or very active women  in bars and such. You accidently hit on a great idea. We could only allow them to relocate to communities built on low lying flood-prone land with many ‘retention’ ponds dug for flood mitigation, breeding multitudes of excess mosquitoes, stocked with alligators! With neighbors constantly complaining. I’m sure they will fit right in with that and have plenty to complain about. Heat, humidity, unpredictable thunderstorms, mosquitoes. Did I mention the HEAT?
Gators are extremely rarely a danger to humans, but they do like the occasional little, yappy dog. No offense to people who like little yappy dogs.

By the way, some of those retirement communities have high incidences of STDs, so some of the residents are having some fun.

Just for the record. I love Florida. But I try to never tell that to anyone not already here. Don’t want to encourage them. Same about the nice litle town where I live. Get this – treefrog also grew up here in the same town. But he moved up north – north Florida. Lol.

I don’t consider it offensive but would have better ideas like no communist, liberals, democrats allowed. Not to.mean to be offensive of Florida but the weather, hurricanes, tornados, constant rain every puddle of water could have a alligator in it. Maybe some places where you are or Treefrog and Buygold  are okay but find it kinda depressing. Stay far away from the growing retirement communities that seem nice as far as not having to worry about grounds but heard the charges will be there anyways they think things up.  Some are over priced money traps hard to sell if you want to get out of the ponzi scheme.  Some where all your going to hear about is death. Death of spouses over and over and over again no matter how long ago they died,  friends, who’s gonna be next, how inflation is affecting their income the hard times they’re having , hide your wallet, illnesses of themselves, spouses or friends, not much on living and doing things now, the young  or the future.

Maybe because they’re planning  a system of robotics that doesn’t support humans. They are going to become  irrelevant.

What you have suggested makes a lot of sense….maybe we will see that outcome forced onto AI, as the sheer costs are already hampering the likes of ChatGTP ….never the less I can see real dangers in the omni AI, especially if the ‘owners’ have mal intent…just look at Faceplant’s or Goggles behavior with their Apps.

I was chatting (real chat!) to some robotics/gaming engineers last night, who use AI (ChatGPT, free version, although if they started charging they’d have to pay ‘cos it is now essential) constantly for coding and debugging. And the other week a friend who works for a big travel firm who also finds AI brilliant for writing business and strategy reports. So why the need for such interactive experiences leading to suicides? It emphasises what I said last week about Small Language Models vs LLMs. No model used for coding needs a model with Shakespeare’s sonnets, theories on the use of Stonehenge, CO2 emissions of undersea volcanoes or the best way to kill yourself, or others. Actually, if you’re into robotics or gaming code, you definitely should NOT be using a Model with access to that sort of data – killing people, that is, code written in the style of a Shakespeare sonnet could be a wonderful thing to behold ….   Anyway, for coding, SLMs, which use a thousandth of the energy, and no water, would be far more appropriate for a productivity enhancing purpose than LLMs, with a much reduced risk.

I’m getting the sensation that AI has some serious problems and is going to cause a lot more……certainly peoples devotion to their phones, is incredibly strong…add in a sympathetic voice and all sorts of naughtiness can be opened up, especially if there is a malicious mind or two…..Neither ChatGTP and certainly not Google have clean hands.
