“There is no hurry to sell something you own, if prices keep rising.”

Very true and I think we are on the right side of the trade. Commodities have a long way to run …

Posted by Mr.Copper @ 12:00 on April 7, 2022

There is no hurry to sell something you own, if prices keep rising. I once heard T Boone Pickins I think it was, say, “If I have a million barrels of oil and its going up, why sell it now, if a month later its worth more”? Price Manipulation of commodities prices since 1971, has been turning into price discovery (correct prices) catching up to them from after 9/11.

I saw Copper charts showing $1/lb from 1972 to 2003 and flew to $5 I think.  Copper today $4.71. It still WAY WAY too cheap for what it is and how important it is. $5/lb in today’s is .25 cents/lb in 1972 money. So Copper is net cheaper today than 50 years ago.

Gasoline at $5/gallon is the same as .25 cents a gallon in 1970. Average pay today I heard in $35/hr. Same as $1.75/hr, the minimum wage around 1970? or late ’60s.

This reminds me of tales I’ve heard about Weimar Germany where people would get paid and then immediately go line up at a store where they’d purchase something, anything before the purchasing power of their marks went down even further.

I guess it’s better to do that “ with the carts” than some places that will no longer let you take them out the door because of it. There thinking too sma though. If I was homeless and owned nothing I’d get one of those electric scooters and keep going. Remember this song. Who knew it would be our generation they were singing about.

She drives real fast and she drives real hard
She’s the terror of Colorado boulevard

I learned about those locking carts the hard way. I went shopping one place and for groceries decided to go to another store next to it to look at something near the holidays and the whole thing just locked up. I couldn’t get it unlocked either so I had two choices. Drag it to my car which I should of did first but didn’t want someone trying break in or hurry back and get another cart and stop before it locked. I chose to get another cart.

You don’t understand sir. You are going to have to just stay inside your blue tarp tent. If you don’t have one, one will be provided for you.

Speaking of grocery carts, my honey has informed me that many of the grocery stores she goes to have installed electrical locking devices on the carts and that a certain distance from the store the lock kicks in and the wheels won’t turn …

Ipso….WOWOWOW…thank you Sir. I musta won the lottery or something ’cause I didn’t think I had any credits left….

YUP, I think I’m gonna like this “you’ll own nothing and you’ll be happy” Sir. Thankyou Thankyou!

Who wants to buy an older lower rate bond when the new bonds have higher rates?

The Diff is in what u pay for the Bond…..that makes up for the difference in rates…..Say u have a $ 1 million bond paying 5 %, but rates are now 10 % and 5 yrs left to run …..the annual 5% Loss would be made up in how much u pay in cash….u would pay less $ 750,000 tks to compounding on the capital amount …. ((1 million* 5 %) * 5 ) = $250,000. So u get back the $ 1 million plus 5 yrs at 5 % = $ 250,000 = $ 1,250,000….but u only paid out $ 750,000 which = $ 500,000, which is 10 % on $ 1 million over 5 yrs.

It should not be a problem…..the problem comes when rates rise, then if u sell early before the maturity date, u get a capital loss…see above and therefore buyers run away from bear mkts….worse than in any other kind of mkt, because of that risk…if u run to maturity u get no capital hit….but u get an opportunity hit…u lost interest .

Reducing The Feds $9 Trillion Balance Sheet Is Taking Profits??

Posted by Mr.Copper @ 12:22 on April 6, 2022

I’m no Bond pro, but they say the Bond purchasing prices or values of the Bonds go up if the later issued bonds have a lower interest rate. Opposite if rates go up. Your older bond with a lower rate, has to be sold at a loss. Who wants to buy a lower interest Bond? Unless you get a discount on that Bond.

So if the Fed bought bonds at higher rates, the Bonds gained value as rates dropped. So when they bought the Bonds, and drove rates lower, they drove their profits or Bond values higher on the previously bought higher interest Bonds. So to me it looks like a no brainer fraudulent short play (inside information) as they bought bonds that gained value as rates dropped.

So they are cashing out profits?? And Bond guys out there? What do you think? I’ve never seen any news on this. Re Fed profits and losses on bonds. When they raised rates to 21% in the ’70s they must have been SELLING new Bonds that paid higher rates. And those Bonds LOST value as they raised the rates. Literally losing money every time they sold bonds. Who wants to buy an older lower rate bond when the new bonds have higher rates?

Maybe inflation hits the juniors harder?

I think their weakness is more a sign that the general public are no where near these shares, what we have seen is some institutional buying of the majors, as the institutions take some protection and that has barely started.

“Maybe inflation hits the juniors harder?”

Yeah or maybe the lack of financial resources in general. If money does really get tight then that’ll hurt em.

HighGold’s been a disappointment that’s for sure. I’m holding on to it for now. Hopefully they come out with some new monster holes.

I’m out for a bit.
