Loading ...aufever, I’ve long had a distaste for bits of paper that confer authority. They can almost always be twisted out of their original context to suit people’s wants, or used to obtain power. The Australian constitution is worthless, trampled on by the courts and govt as it suits them. Britain doesn’t have a constitution. You can love your piece of paper all you like, but it really isn’t helping the country to be in a happy place, is it? Everyone ignores it when they like, hiding behind their party’s power. Want to declare war on Iran? Can’t do it without the constitutional authority of Congress, so let’s just not call it a war and bomb the hell out of them anyway. And so on.
