Friends who have lived in muslim African countries haven’t had problems even though they were missionaries – but that is changing as the religion is now dominating over the spiritual. A good friend who spent a few years in The Sudan used to have coffee with al Qaeda operatives (they had a training school next to his Bible college) and the discussions usually centred around God, as well as the usual how crap the govt is, the weather etc. It’s the fanatics that cause the problems.
Christianity is tolerated in Iran – more so than Israel now. Muslims can be much more tolerant towards people of the Book (OT and the Gospels) than Jews. An American in China trying to get Bibles printed in secret couldn’t get anyone to do it because the printers were terrified of the CCP. Eventually his Chinese guide said they must try the CCP printer. The American was horrified, but the CEO saw them, examined the proof and said “This is talking about Abraham. Is this the Christian Bible?” “er, yes” replied the missionary. “I am a muslim” says the CEO, “so, if you are a Christian, you are a man of the Book?” TLDR the CCP printed the Bibles. No amount was specified, and therefore so many pallets were produced that they required help from the army to transport them to the airport and get them on the planes …….
To answer your question, a moderate country, or a moderate part of a country, yes, sure.
