Loading ...I felt the stronger one , west of here , but not the lesser one to the east .
Homes are built here to resist the temblors . Concrete is very strong in compression , but not in tension , so the first floor support columns are compressed by the weight of the poured concrete second floor , etc. so never are in tension even when wobbling due to an earthquake . Simple but effective .
