Cant remember what brought the subject up when I was a kid asking him about WW11. It had to do with weapons and was over in the Philippines at that time. He said the locals wanted them to give them weapons so they could fight too. When asked if they did and explained why he didn’t in that situation. He said in so many words you really don’t know who your enemies are. They could use those weapons against you.
