Yes, a truly Globalist operating system. In 2025, over 1,000 institutions used Blackrock’s algorithm called Aladdin, and its revenue and use is growing exponentially…..

This arrangement illustrates a pattern that has taken shape over three decades yet rarely enters public debate. BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager with around $14 trillion under management, has spent three decades building a technology platform whose reach extends far beyond its own business. BlackRock’s technology-services division generated roughly $2 billion in revenue in 2025 – an increase of 24 percent in a single year. More than 1,000 external organizations – pension funds, insurers, central banks, and competing asset managers – run their investment processes on Aladdin. The name stands for Asset, Liability, Debt and Derivative Investment Network. The platform integrates portfolio management, trading, compliance, risk calculation, accounting, and reporting into a single operational loop. It is not an analytical tool. It is the operating foundation on which a substantial part of the global financial industry makes its daily decisions – from risk simulations and automated compliance checks to order routing.

1983 was our wettest year for a long time; water was so high that they built a temporary wooden structure four feet tall at the top of Glen Canyon Dam to keep it from overflowing. As the water neared the top of the reservoir, engineers had to open the dam’s massive spillway tunnels. However, the rushing water caused a phenomenon known as cavitation—where micro-bubbles imploded with enough force to punch massive, house-sized holes into the concrete and surrounding sandstone. This is how we know we’re in trouble when we reach a Deadpool: we can’t even open these pipes at the bottom of the dam because I think there’s too much silt in front of the dam and that’s why it’s cavitating the pipes (along with air bubbles).

It’s going to cost billions to drill a bypass on both dams just to keep the Colorado River flowing. I like eating fresh food and we need to make sure California gets this water. It’s a holy **** moment. I read that they miscalculated the flow of the Colorado River in 1910 and 1920 and they apportioned something like 16 billion acre-feet when really the river only flows 12 billion acre-feet in a good year. Everyone keeps saying, “Well, Vegas is toast”, but I read they added the straw deep enough to pull water when both dams are no longer functioning and we just have a river flowing through instead. Vegas also blows away every other city as far as how little water they really use in comparison to other similar-sized cities in the West.

I know it sounds like pure insanity, but I am in favor of using a straw to suck water from the Mississippi River and pump it over the Continental Divide. If China can do such massive-scale projects, so can we. I’m sure it has huge consequences but I don’t understand what to do with the West right now.

Then slammed negative when London opened. Now back up to where they were. Dollar was uber strong this morning last I looked with rates rising again and no end in sight. Oil also reversed higher.

How long before we hear how high diesel prices are impacting miner earnings?

As a Colorado resident I’m concerned about how dry it is here

Posted by eeos @ 8:00 on October 1, 2026

We have more dry lakes and rivers than I’ve ever seen in 26 years of being here. Lake Powell is about 30 feet away from its minimum power pool, while Lake Mead is just 5 feet away from a critical threshold that forces most of its turbines offline and about 90 feet away from stopping all electricity generation completely. I believe that the Hoover Dam is probably equivalent to about two large nuclear power plants. The ground is so dry here that any rain that we get is just going to get absorbed it, won’t even go to the rivers. The heat island effect is burning all the moisture right out of the clouds, it seems. We just lost St. Mary’s Glacier, which was around since I was a little kid. Some expert told me that we need something like 20 or 25 feet of rain for things to be okay.

Interesting to see when diesel gets expensive, they break out the batteries. Electric mining trucks on open pit mines might be popular too:

Glencore sank a shaft 8,530 feet under Ontario from the bottom of a mine it closed in 2009, and put five lithium-ion locomotives and 23 battery machines down there so it would not have to pump cooled air a mile and a half to keep the crews working

This is a helpful channel too

Treefrog – exactly

Good news, bad news. They really need the rain, I’ve never seen Powell like that and read that Mead has never been lower. A lot of people depend on Mead and the Colorado.

Flipside is it will be a mess this winter.

I relatively agree with you ferrett

There’s no free lunch. It needs to be curbed and guided, which most people don’t have the knowledge or patience to deal with. Like you said, it’s good at looking at alot of data and compiling notes. That’s where I see doctors using it. I think it’s exceptional at looking at massive aggregates of data and sorting through them and it’s also really good at pattern recognition, both important for trading, research and work that’s relatively boring otherwise
