GDX making a 2nd attempt to bust the 50 day. Gold is going to need to help at some point.

I think we have a real battle today……the buyers are not letting up…nor are the sellers.

I see the 9 am EST seller has come in to do his thing. They don’t want anyone coming into the pm sector, period.

Hopefully though, with the buying going on in the other metals, they’ll overwhelm the shorts. I don’t know, hard to bank on that happening.

Oil now has a $77 handle.

maddog,

looks like similar pattern in silver.  somebody/something is trying to stop it shy of $ixty.

Looks like someone is desperate to keep gold down…..meanwhile everything else is running

Re Swiss…there really is no currency to rival Gold anymore, the Deutsche Mark was there once, but the Euro is a sick joke and even the Swissy can’t manage it now…..no wonder CB’s are buying…..

It looks to me there is monster buying sub 4 K and a load of shorts, who are finding it v hard to get it any lower, despite selling every rally and now I see someone has lit a fire under Plat and to lesser extent Palladium…..plus shares are now catching bids, as people wake up to what a bargain they are.

Platinum up $73 or 4.4%, oil now down, dollar too, rates back to flat

Posted by Buygold @ 7:36 on August 4, 2026

Palladium up $38 – 4%

SM futures powering up.

Gold up 0.2%

Impressive.

Morning maddog – thanks for a recap on the Swiss

Posted by Buygold @ 6:29 on August 4, 2026

sounds like it is no longer significant at least as gold is concerned. All these currencies seem close to a reckoning; I just wonder who will push the world, if anyone, toward a system backed by commodities.

The usual next day action for pm’s, going nowhere fast. Silver looked like it had some potential overnight, but has done the usual fade after the London open.

Dollar flat, rates up 2 bips, oil up a buck and change. Pick anyone and the pm correlation is down.

Course, the SM futures are on their way up again, because, why not?

I can sure tell you Mr.Copper

That the central banks control the world. The Fed and all the others … and it’s not healthy for you if you’re a country that doesn’t want to belong to the club!

@ipso facto The Answer To The Question

Posted by Mr.Copper @ 21:58 on August 3, 2026

Because of Federal Reserve Act of 1913, the USA lost its 1776 independence, back to Great Britain. The London Bankers were discussing it from 1907 to 1913 before they got Congress to approve it. It was done so the USA could fight foreign wars and the bankers would collect interest on the loans. Note soon after WW I.

That would be a dangerous endeavor!

Re Swiss

Once Switzerland was a paragon of financial rectitude, it was also unconquerable, it’s banks super secure, impregnable and offered total secrecy , they were also rumoured to be full of Gold, much of it from Jewish clients who had died in WW II, so they were super capitalised.

So it was the place to put yr money, as things turned bad……then the secrecy laws were broken, by a tax hungry US and EU…the EU threatened to never let them join the EU, which the idiot elites were desperate to do, so they ordered the Banks to comply and it has been down hill ever since ….but at a much slower pace than the rest….and all for nothing as the people have always rejected the EU ,so it retains some haven status ….hence it is still favoured in bad times.

This came from Space via my new Starlink kit.

Yep

I’m surprised

Posted by goldielocks @ 16:27 on August 3, 2026

GGN went up today since they hold oil too. Only one that survived the sell off pretty well and continued to pay dividends every month. You can’t get suddenly rich on it, it stays in a range  but I get about 150 a month in dividends while the others will get you nothing but a loss if you don’t take profits out plus for taxes and park it somewhere like GGN better yearly interest than treasuries or CDs.

At least they threw us a bone into the close

Posted by Buygold @ 16:02 on August 3, 2026

Impossible to buy here though. The metals should have done much better today IMHO.

The Yen for a few years back seemed to mirror gold then stopped. The Swiss franc was moving up so they pegged it to the Euro. They didn’t want it up, it was affectimg exports whatever that was besides some really good chocolate.

I don’t really don’t know about the Swiss frank other than around 1980 when gold was $800, the price in Swiss franks was not up.

I think you are spot on. Do you have any idea about the Swiss currency? I remember Sinclair used to talk about it being a safe haven of sorts, but I haven’t paid attention in a long time.
