But they can’t be worse than tobacco and alcohol that kill lots of people. Ice cream too is dangerous. We knew a guy tug boat captain, weight lifter in great shape in his 40s ate a pint of Haagen-Dazs every night, and had a Heart Attack!!
My brother and I used to play with a little bottle of liquid Mercury my father had in the shop. We would rub it with our fingers onto a penny and it looked like a dime. When the DDT truck for mosquitos used to go thru the neighborhood? That big fog behind it? All the kids in the neighborhood would ride our bicycles behind it. It was fun and smelled good!! 🙂
Also my life was spent in factories. I breathed every type of fumes and metal dust imaginable. I’m 77 and people think I’m 55 to 60 tops. In time we might find out pollution extends lives. Leos brake service? I used to go there in the 1960s. Leo got to 93 years old. He was breathing Asbestos dust all his life. Blowing it out all over the place from the brakes with compressed air.
All the fear mongering is the gov’t and special interests. They make a big deal out of, and exaggerate everything. To enable legislation, to create various jobs “to save lives”. They created globalization and cheap air fares to encourage promiscuous vacation and business travel, leading to loss of jobs here and a virus that kills people.
If we can live with Covid we should not worry about little things other people tell us to worry about.
P.S. Leo’s Brake Service? His son took it over. They had a machine there that arked or sanded the asbestos linings to match the drums. The gov’t started outlawing Asbestos (after the gold $ depeg) and he called me in to design fabricate and install an exhaust duct with fan to blow the Asbestos dust thru the wall to the outside.
The gov’t created an expense for him, and money for me and the sheet metal and fan retailers.
