ACKERMAN on Buffett-Gold and Goldman

Buffett Takes a Small Step
Away from the Dark Side

Bullion fans got revved up after Friday’s close when they learned that Warren Buffett had taken a plunge in bullion, acquiring shares of Barrick Gold worth about $563 million. This is welcome news, but it is also small potatoes for Berkshire Hathaway. Recall that when the investment firm bought $9.7 billion worth of Dominion Energy’s gas transmission lines six weeks ago, it was seen as just a token bet on the energy patch. Still, if anyone is going to be early in jumping on a long-term trend, it is Buffett. He may be a johnnie-come-lately compared to gold bugs who have been sitting on physical and accumulating mining shares for years, but it seems unlikely that Buffett would even bother with bullion if he did not see a favorable trend developing for the very long term.

Kissing Off Goldman Sachs

To be sure, the Sage of Omaha’s defensive instincts are probably ratcheted to-the-max these days, in no small part because of the large position he has amassed in Apple. No one, least of all a legendary bargain-hunter like Buffett, could believe the consumer electronics firm’s shares offer good value for a current $2 trillion. It should therefore come as no surprise that Buffett is edging toward hard-money assets to preserve is capital in these far-too-interesting times. Perhaps even more significant than his gold bet is a corresponding decision to exit the remainder of his position in Goldman Sachs and to greatly reduce positions in JP Morgan Chase and Wells Fargo. We can reasonably infer that he sees lower profits ahead for paper-shufflers and deal-makers, and perhaps even for their trade desks. It does not require a big leap in logic to suggest as well that Buffett sees an end to financialization itself.  Although Berkshire has gone along with the global shell game for many years, albeit with far less leverage than the big banks, no one could believe he trusts a game that enriches mountebanks and con-artists whose main skill is hyper leveraging money created from thin air.

Gold bugs should take encouragement from Buffett’s baby steps away from the Dark Side, for he could be signaling nothing less than the dawning of a new era for honest money.  The consequences for debtors will not be pretty, but it is the only way back for a financial system that has been fatally corrupted by hubris and greed.

If you find yourself in a hole the first thing to do is stop digging.

We’re in a nervous market. What’s to love about the shut down economies right now. Even those working have little R&R prospects. It’s affecting a lot of the sectors even gas except for those who need it to power their generators for power outs or to charge their electric cars lol Without Trump directly helping the people it could be worse though.
One of the safer sectors healthcare I’m not even sure because of the lay offs of so many when all attention was given to the China virus.

But any 5-10% decline THIS year is sufficient spark to ignite a conflagration

True, in past decades, a “5-10% decline in any given year is not outside of the norm”.  But any 5-10% decline THIS year is sufficient spark to ignite a conflagration that quickly leads to market meltdown.  Big money managers are on hair-trigger standby alert, while wave after wave of short-sellers get massacred by Fed “liquidity” injections.  The situation is fragile, unsustainable, like an old rubber band stretched to imminent breaking point.  Anybody “bullish” in this environment is a fool soon to be parted from his money, relying 100% on “Fed backup”.  That works, until it doesn’t, then game over

It’s worse than that if Biden wins because the green new deal is not just a job killer which is bad enough people lives are at stake and look at California? It can’t even supply enough electricity for the people as is with rolling blackouts but they want everything electric “ cars” in a few years will all gas cars deemed worthless putting even more demand on the grid with no alternative and solar isn’t cutting it.

It’s artificial intelligence that’s going to control our lives even the outcome of jury selection by picking the people most likely to give a guilty verdict. It’s AI they want to inject in or arms also for profit and power over us. It’s AI that wants to defund the police and replace them with robots and drones, it’s AI that want to pick our leaders and how it can affect the election, it’s AI that want to have global dominance over every citizen in the world, and all these branches are going right out of our country, it’s AI that are causing riots and this was a agenda of Obama phones with unlimited data to enable it. We are paying for all these layers and layers of independent contractors to spy on and control us. That includes social media sites as we know.

Might have to hurry up and watch this because they tried to stop this documentary by Millie and arrested her just before it was supposed to be shown.

What happens to GOLD if

Posted by Ororeef @ 11:13 on August 16, 2020

Biden wins…It goes parabolic ,the Dollar becomes worthless ,the economy crashes.

Trunp wins ..it goes up moderately ,the Dollar maintains its world status, the economy gradually recovers.

WE make more money with GOLD if Biden wins, but we pay a terrible Price lose our freedom, constitution rights ,mob rule prevails and a civil war eventually happens ,not right away but when the Guns start to be taken the peaceful people realize if they dont fight back all is lost.

I remember voting for REAGAN,but his Treasury secretary caused a market crash in 1987 …when he threatened  to let the Dollar FLOAT……I paid a very high price  .   I dont know what happens ..its like the old joke of mixed emotions like watching your mother in Law drive off a cliff in your NEW CADILLAC..

Good morning Buygold. It seems as if Buffet thinks the banks are going to fall into the Pits Of Zool. Since he has better information than we do I’d say, don’t bet against him. His other bank positions are probably on the chopping block as well.

I congratulate him on his Barrick purchases. If he needs some guidance in the other miners he can contact us. 🙂

The Demonrats will never go for it because they don’t understand money at all but a little surprising that any of them do

Morning Ipso – this is what surprises me about Buffet. What does he know about the banks?

According to the latest 13F, Howard Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway not only dumped all his airlines – as we learned previously 0 but has also liquidated huge amounts of its exposure to US banks (exiting Goldman Sachs entirely).

  • Berkshire’s JPMorgan Stake Down 62% to 22.2M Shrs
  • Berkshire’s Wells Fargo Stake Down 26% to 238M Shrs
  • Berkshire trimmed its bet on PNC Financial and M&T Bank as well as Bank of New York Mellon Corp., Mastercard, and Visa.
  • Berkshire Exits Goldman stake entirely

My comments:

Besides Barrick, he could start a run on other gold mining shares, probably the larger caps I’d guess and by proxy a selloff on the bank stocks. That money has to go somewhere, just sayin’ 🙂

Dolly has a good heart. She has done a lot of good things for people with her money. BLM on the other hand is a Marxist anti American and racist under the color of anti racist organization. They use the money not for black neighborhoods but to support anarchists groups and getting dumb people like Aoc , Omar, and more like those in Seattle and Portland elected and now police defunded. They also fund ACLU so you can see why they are no longer working for America and in anarchist pocket, They probably take money from Soros and Gates too. It’s a Trojan horse.

Richard or any other that lived in Chicago

Here’s a quiz of Chicago slang. I took it although only went there to visit a cousin once in awhile or to dinner with friends as a teen. Somehow I got 100 % but had to guess on a bunch of them as some were places I wasn’t familiar with or deep back in memory had me guess right but still thought it couldn’t be. I guessed no relish on hot dogs is that right? Apparently it was.

Dolly Parton expressed her support for Black Lives Matter in an interview with Billboard.

Dolly Parton expressed her support for Black Lives Matter in an interview with Billboard, saying that while she hasn’t attended any marches this summer, she supports the protest movement and its push for racial justice.

“I understand people having to make themselves known and felt and seen,” she told the magazine. “And of course Black lives matter. Do we think our little white asses are the only ones that matter? No!”

Two years ago, Parton renamed the Dixie Stampede dinner theater show — one of many business ventures she runs — after criticism in the wake of the 2017 Charlottesville white supremacist rally. Today the Civil War-themed show is known as Dolly Parton’s Stampede. (The renaming of the attraction was the subject of an episode of the podcast Dolly Parton’s America).

In her interview with Billboard, Parton addressed that controversy, saying she was guilty of “innocent ignorance” and “would never dream of hurting anybody on purpose.”

“When they said ‘Dixie’ was an offensive word, I thought, ‘Well, I don’t want to offend anybody. This is a business. We’ll just call it The Stampede,’ ” she said. “As soon as you realize that [something] is a problem, you should fix it. Don’t be a dumbass. That’s where my heart is.

The country music group formerly known as The Dixie Chicks came to the same conclusion earlier this year.

The 74-year-old songwriter, singer, businesswoman and philanthropist also said her entire business empire has been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic, but she’s still hopeful for the future.
