“Don’t Cry For Me, Argentina”    🙂

Peachy

Posted by ipso facto @ 19:57 on May 1, 2020

Argentina’s government floats the nationalization of its mining industry
It was only a matter of time. Argentina’s Environment Minister Juan Cabandié in the house (translated):

“I don’t agree with mega-mining, but at the same time I understand that even the chairs on which we’re sitting today have mineral origins. Therefore, what we have to change is the way in which we do mining. If we had a robust State mining company, we would be able to control the means so that it doesn’t leave environmental health hazards.

“But I have an Australian or Canadian mining company that comes for 10 years, extracts according to its agreement and other things, we get tax revenue from a simple declaration of mine gate output. They leave me environmental hazards and pollute the water. This is where I agree with many people, that water is more important and gold.

“We enter into a contradiction: Many of the things we have are of mineral origin. The discussion we we need to have is that the mega-mines affect us all; some make profits and remit out the country, others generate very low tax revenues in relation to their margins. If we had a State mining company, all this would be different.”

Expect to hear a lot more on this subject as 2020 rolls out in Argentina. A lot of people up North seem to forget the country elected a left wing government last year. They get the rude awakening, IKN readers will be prepared.

Honolulu County: 400
Kaua’i County: 21
Maui County: 116*
Pending: 0
Residents diagnosed outside of Hawai‘i: 9
Required Hospitalization: 72†
Hawaii deaths: 16
Released from Isolation: 532
Cumulative totals as of 12:00pm, May 1, 2020

One new case in Honolulu.  Governor extended ‘Stay at Home’ orders thru May 31, so we got another month of this.

Endured a horrid trip to Walmart yesterday… waiting in lines to get in… typical Walmart shoppers ignoring ‘distance’ guidelines and shoving past everyone in aisles that are marked and supposed to be ‘One Way’ to facilitate distance.  Toilet Paper is limited but available now.  Main thing I scored was antiseptic wipes.  Still no Lysol spray to be found.  No Tylenol or acetaminophen products, and no Vitamin C anywhere.

Happy fishing  Up Nort’ in Minoqua.  It’s still unofficially winter up there yet.  Just two weeks ago they had snow.   You know the four seasons in Wisconsin are:

June, July, August, and… Winter.

Kim Jong-un appears in public, North Korean state media report

KCNA news agency reports that the North Korean leader cut the ribbon at the opening of a fertiliser factory.

It adds that people at the factory “broke into thunderous cheers of hurrah” when he appeared.

The reported appearance – his first since a state media event on 12 April – comes amid global speculation over his health.

Mr Kim was accompanied by several senior North Korean officials, including his sister Kim Yo Jong, KCNA added.

The latest reports from state media could not be independently confirmed and no pictures were provided.

Asked about Mr Kim’s reported reappearance, US President Donald Trump told reporters that he didn’t want to comment yet.

Pretty good day from my perspective

Posted by Buygold @ 15:23 on May 1, 2020

Don’t know why but I’m curious to see the COT Report.

Regardless, the shares continue to act well, as if the metals will follow.

Never know I guess…

You are wise…that’s the best way…I am not a scalper or day trader…my goal is to catch a “run” in a leveraged etf like jnug

Posted by Richard640 @ 12:50 on May 1, 2020

JNUG went from abot $6 to $90 last year and that was with no reverse splits….from $90 it went to $3 then to about 7.50 when it has a 10 for one split…in trying to catch a move with JNUG I am often forced to day trade or hold for 2 or 3 days

I have never personally met anyone who was a successful day trader–I also take longish term trades via options like I did in the spring of 2019….those were position trades with 2 and 3 month options.  I bought a 1000 one buck NGD options for $5000–and netted $55K…short term gsin, yes, but a good return on my investment…

and, yes, I know seasonals are not the end all and be all in decision making when trading gold

Posted by Ororeef @ 12:39 on May 1, 2020

Just because Seasonals are not conducive to buying here dosent mean I want to be out of the Gold Market ..Two weeks up and down dosent mean Im trading ..timing is risky ….Look at this morning and now ..in the same day   ….If your a short term trader Seasonals may not mean much to you ,depends on your time horizon ..

My feeling is ..yes I can beat the market scalping 2 % ,but its all short term trading and  the higher tax rates apply..I can drop 30 % and still be ahead when you factor in short term tax rates…at years end..and so much trading ,paper work ..for what ?  I buy right ,sit tight, and make long term capital gains tax rates or no taxes some years..Im only concerned with ,is this a BULL Market ,or not ? If it is ,I dont need to trade..I own Royalties, Gold Funds (TWO) and a few miners not yet in production …I dont trade except when I get bored and that always cost me money…..I know how to scalp ,I just dont want to do all that work and pay high taxes….in the end !

I got in the market using this method in 1974 ,rode it up until 1987 and made 80 x my money …I dropped half in crash 0f 1987 ,my mistake was using Margin money ,big mistake at the end .Margin leveraged me up until that time  ,then it took all the leverage back in ONE DAY 1987….I still made 15 Times my money but it wasent worth almost going bankrupt.  for a couple of weeks ..Black SWan days are killers..$ 250,000 margin calls ,no thanks .It killed my broker,my dear friend who helped me  and then kept me from going bankrupt with a plan we both devised to by some time ..and it worked ! I recovered ,he diden’t..uncontrolled internal bleeding ..

I was in shock what happened to him,I miss him..

Maddog–now they are selling 10 yr t-notes…not much but enought to show they aren’t too worried about stawks

I can dream, can’t I? The gold bugs perennial wet dream=”the yellow metal would explode:”

Saxo Bank’s head of commodity strategy, Ole Hansen, observed that a lockdown is occurring in two biggest gold hubs in the world, New York and London,  so many traders are working from home. “This has caused a breakdown in the marketplace”, he said.
“There is no price discovery in the market right now,” he said Tuesday morning. “If you need to borrow gold in the OTC [over-the-counter] markets right now, you are going to pay a king’s ransom.”
Then we had the even more stunning negative prices for front-month WTI crude futures as prices converged to negative spot prices at expiration/delivery, thanks to a lack of storage and ETF-driven illiquidity issues. This sparked major losses for some very large market brokerages and clearing houses, among them, Interactive Brokers:

Maddog….It happens in the best of families…chuckle…now if the DOW goes down 800-900 maybe the FED

Posted by Richard640 @ 12:18 on May 1, 2020

desk will launch a sell program and gold will suddenly be down 10 or 20 in a few minutes…I’m already calculating if I want to carry any JNUG over the weekend…gotta see how the day goes….biut to repeat=I am very impressed by the dollar…

also looking at the 10 yr t-note and 30 yr bond…they are barely green which tells me–so fgar–traders aren’t worried by this sell off in stocks and they may buy em back the last 1/2 hour–a lot to watch today…

But I’m not complaining…better than being old and gray and being a short order cook in Mayers restaurant in Spoon River…

They may need it soon …

Sure catching me out as well…spoke to a mate, who is looking to add lower, who knows someone who is short looking for 1600….we had a consensus…it was going lower..to which I said this is too easy..went out and bang it’s all up.

Maybe it is the May position on Crimex…it had 1833 deliveries, but OI dropped 1738, so nearly 100 lots were added and none sold/rolled…so far they are saying gimme.!!!!!!!
