WELCOME TO AMERICA

Posted by Ororeef @ 22:04 on November 13, 2018

Two Irish nuns have just arrived in USA by boat in the early 1900’s, and one says to the other,
“I hear that the people in this country actually eat dogs.”
“Odd,” her companion replies, “but if we shall live in America, we might as
well do as the Americans do.”

As they sit, they hear a push cart vendor yelling, “Hot Dogs, get your
dogs here,” and they both walk towards the hot dog cart.

“Two dogs, please!,” says one.

The vendor is very pleased to oblige, wraps both hot dogs in foil and hands
them over.

Excited, the nuns hurry to a bench and begin to unwrap their ‘dogs.’

The mother superior is first to open hers. She begins to blush, and then,
after staring at it for a moment, leans to the other nun and in a soft
brogue whispers:

“What part did you get?”

Ray Dalio’s Faith in Gold Is Unshaken

Posted by Mr.Copper @ 21:15 on November 13, 2018

Not even gold’s second quarterly straight decline was enough to shake billionaire hedge-fund manager Ray Dalio’s confidence in gold.

Dalio’s Bridgewater Associates maintained its holdings in SPDR Gold Shares, the largest bullion-backed ETF, at 3.9 million shares, and its stake in iShares Gold Trust, the second-largest, at 11.3 million shares in the third quarter, according to a regulatory filing Tuesday.

Bridgewater stayed loyal to bullion even amid an investor sell-off that sent assets in bullion-backed ETFs tracked by Bloomberg tumbling by 2.79 million ounces in the third quarter, the first such decline since the end of 2016. The precious metal’s haven appeal has waned as the dollar rallied and borrowing costs rose in the U.S., making non-interest bearing assets less competitive.

The hedge fund also added to its holdings in Barrick Gold Corp., Franco-Nevada Corp., Newmont Mining Corp. and Kinross Gold Corp. in the third quarter. In the same quarter, Bridgewater pared its stake in bullion producers including Yamana Gold Inc. and Eldorado Gold Corp.
Filings released this month don’t include hedge funds’ current position, which may have changed since the end of the quarter. Money managers who oversee more than $100 million in the U.S. must file a Form 13F within 45 days of each quarter’s end to list those stocks as well as options and convertible bonds. The filings don’t show non-U.S. securities, holdings that aren’t publicly traded, or cash.

redneckokie re Crude oil

Posted by Mr.Copper @ 19:45 on November 13, 2018

I heard there were a lot of oil related Bonds floated that might have problems too. The speed of the drop makes the size of the drop even worse. Imo the alternating adjustable value of the global Unit Of Account is causing all the problems.

The invisible hand of capitalism was chopped off long ago, so we have bone heads manually adjusting things they have no business adjusting. They are just causing themselves more problems.

Even if a massive DEFLATION unfolds it would still be good for GOLD, implying the management of the system is failing.

Crude oil

got flushed the last few weeks. Today was probably the grand finale for those funds long crude/ short natural gas. Maybe we can get crude and the pm going to the upside. I bought some more jnug today and will continue dollar cost averaging along with phiz.

Interesting, thanks for your view from the island. So I guess no deal exit is better than the currently drawn up version. No reason for the Brits to Kowtow to the EU. Sounds like May is done either way.

Re Brexit

Assumeing this is the real deal and I think it is, then now is when the smelly stuff hits the fan, as the MP’s in her own party have been holding fire until they see the full deal…..the deal is so bad that only a lunatic would put it up, or a traitor….so far it looks like May has zero chance of getting the deal thru parliament, unless lots of opposition MP’s support her…so she either loses and has to go, or wins but with opposition support. Which would finish her either way …..though it may get messy as she is very stubborn and very thick.

Hopefully she goes and the tories elect a proper Brexiteer leader, who will tear up the deal and tell the EU to have lots of sex abroad etc.

I just don’t like dilution. I guess if they’re raising capital to pick up something cheap it could work out in the long run, but over the near term unless we see an explosion in the metals it’ll just keep getting sold.

Looks like we’re going to get another kick in the nuts into the close.

buygold, re mux dilution

Posted by treefrog @ 11:27 on November 13, 2018

dilution sucks, but there is a possible upside.

imagine mux is diluting to raise cash to make a strategic purchase (buy out a smaller miner with good in-ground reserves?  other?  whatever.)

in this case, mux stockholders get a smaller proportion of a bigger pie.

maybe.

dilution still sucks.
