Filled–Buy to Open 150 JNUG Oct 19 2018 8.0 Call Limit .10—-11:05:48 10/10/18
I already have a double…I’m keeping my cajones crossed…(ouch!)
the eye is projected to pass to the east of panama city, at tyndall afb. west of panama city, where the high rise hotels are is technically panama city beach, a separate municipality. i don’t have any info about foundations and the geology there. in many florida locations it’s sand, underlain by clay. here, it’s 8-10 feet of sand, then 80 feet of florida ball kaolin (high grade potter’s clay) then limestone – the floridan aquifer.
…and you’re right, they are broad, shallow buildings – intended to maximize beach exposure. when it’s sunny, that’s just what you want to harvest max tourist dollars. when it’s stormy, then you harvest max foot-pounds of wind force. ooops!!!
treefrog manor 15:00 getting breezy, power flickering…
I was looking at some of them this morning on TWC coverage and wondering ” These are designed to maximize ocean view – they are wide ( parallel to the shore ) and tall , but not very deep ( away from the shore ) … are they going to be toppled by Cat. 4 winds ?” As a teenager I was a Sea Scout and did some sailing , so I know how quickly a gust can capsize a sailboat .
In the case of those buildings the gusts are small relative to the average gale force , but the loading on those buildings is going to be immense if the eye passes to the West and Panama City is near the eyewall of the storm .
Are they anchored to bedrock , or just to coquina , I wonder ?
here’s a close-in graphic of what’s about to happen. michael is expected to make landfall on tyndall airforce base, just east of panama city fl early this afternoon. fortunately, the airbase is not shoulder to shoulder with high rise hotels as is the case to the west of panama city. the fury of the storm’s core will fall on less built-up, thinly populated areas. as distance from the core increases, storm force and resultant property damage falls off rapidly, particularly distance to the west. extensive rainfall is expected throughout the area, with resultant flooding of low-lying areas.
in this image, treefrog manor is located just below the first “s” in the caption for tallahassee. well away from the storm core, but still on the leading (right hand) quadrant. peak wind forecasts for here are 45-70 mph depending on who you listen to.
Re Bonds….It’s early days but they are very over bought rates/oversold futures, so much so that u would not want to be buying rates here….as the odds are you’ll be sweating big losses v quickly, that may well turn out all right…… but.
So with the SM falling apart…it is very, very ominous that they are basically unch on the day, rates should be tanking here, with the SM and the overbought situation.
Storm surges could be as high as 14 feet.

My “work” is indicating that if stocks continue to crash, gold has an 86.394830293848940% of having a $100 to $150 up day within the next 4 trading days…suddenly coming alive to the surprise of all…
gold is not crashing like 2008…at least, so far…but no upsaide mo-mo in gold either…so far…

it is ones patriotic duty to buy the oct 19th JNUG $8 call “just in case” the unlikely event that gold suddenly comes alive and has a $100-$150 up day…or pigs can fly…[or if jnug continues to fall, then the 7.50]
michael’s up to 145 mph and headed for the panama city area 100-150 miles west of here.
at treefrog manor, we’re already beginning to get the fringes of the spiral bands. ten minutes of breezy rain, fifteen minutes of slacking off.
145 mph is going to chew up anything it hits. i expect we will get half that or less. god bless each and every one of those 100-150 miles! branches and trees down on power lines can be expected. power outages? likely. just when, where, and how long we wait and see. that’s why i have a generator.
part: Not only is the U.S. budget deficit primed to swell to roughly $1 trillion by fiscal 2019 and past that in subsequent years, but the interest owed by the government is also forecast to triple in the coming decade.
Comment: “Coming decade?” Ten more years? That would be nice. At this point, TPTB have nothing to lose . The “point of no return”, going down the runway. Too lake to abort the plan, so throttle up and hope they clear the trees at the end of the runway.

Democrats and Republicans have plenty at stake in the upcoming midterm elections. But it’s already looking like a no-win situation for the U.S. bond market.
If Democrats take the House, it raises the odds that congressional leaders will propose an infrastructure-spending bill similar in scope to President Donald Trump’s original trillion-dollar proposal. And if the GOP defies expectations and holds on in Congress, tax cut 2.0 becomes more likely. In either case, the result will be debt, debt and more debt.
That’d be on top of what is already a grim fiscal situation. A deluge of debt supply is set to inundate the $15.3 trillion Treasury market, just as borrowing costs rise. Not only is the U.S. budget deficit primed to swell to roughly $1 trillion by fiscal 2019 and past that in subsequent years, but the interest owed by the government is also forecast to triple in the coming decade to nearly a trillion dollars a year, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

You have a point there. If Brown could that’s exactly what he would do.
We still have some good people here and need to keep them.
