here’s a close-in graphic of what’s about to happen. michael is expected to make landfall on tyndall airforce base, just east of panama city fl early this afternoon. fortunately, the airbase is not shoulder to shoulder with high rise hotels as is the case to the west of panama city. the fury of the storm’s core will fall on less built-up, thinly populated areas. as distance from the core increases, storm force and resultant property damage falls off rapidly, particularly distance to the west. extensive rainfall is expected throughout the area, with resultant flooding of low-lying areas.
in this image, treefrog manor is located just below the first “s” in the caption for tallahassee. well away from the storm core, but still on the leading (right hand) quadrant. peak wind forecasts for here are 45-70 mph depending on who you listen to.
